W.E.B. DuBois
DuBois is famous for being an intellectual during the Harlem Renaissance. He encouraged talented black people to show what they could do. He challenged oppression and segregation in the 1920s.
W.E.B. DuBois
DuBois moved to Harlem in 1910. DuBois became famous for his publishing of The Crisis which discussed the issues that African Americans were facing.
He was born on February 23rd, 1868 and died on August 27th, 1963.
Birth and Life
W. E.B. Dubois was born in Great Barrington, MA which was a very tolerant, integrated area. He moved to Harlem in order to join the NAACP. He received a college education at Humboldt University of Berlin, Harvard University, Harvard College, and Fisk University. He won many awards for his work, including the Lenin Peace Prize, and the Spingarn Medal.
W.E.B. DuBois
His contributions were important because he made people aware of African American struggles and worked towards solving them.
