There is one File menu and two Tabs Home and View. There are various command buttons under each
tab. Using these command buttons, you can work on your typed text.
Formatting is like decorating your typed work. Let’s learn how to format what you type.
Before we start formatting, it is must to select the text. Selecting the text is like choosing the text for applying actions.
To select the text:
WordPad is a word processing program used to type letters, notes, essays etc. Before we start
using it, let us know about its components.

1. Place the cursor from where you want to start selecting.
2. Drag the mouse towards the end point. Release the mouse button.
The text will get selected.
Changing the Font Type
A font is a set of printable or displayable text characters in a specific style and size. Applying different fonts, provides different appearance to the text.
Changing the Font Style
There are Bold, Italics and Underline Font styles available. In the following example, you can see the Font styles.

Changing the Font Size
The size of typed text can be changed by changing the Font size. Bigger the font size, larger the text will be.
Changing the Text Colour
The colour of text you type can be changed as desired.

Saving the document
Once you are finished with your typing and formatting, you can save the document with a name. This way you can open the saved document anytime.

Opening the document
The selected document will open.
Opening a new document After you have finished working with your current document, a new file can be opened for new work.
