ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE IN THE HEART OF CHICAGOQUALITY EDUCATION Teaching and learning are priorities at DePaul. That might seem obvious, but we’re the largest private university whose faculty members’ priority is teaching. We’re also the nation’s largest Catholic university — and we’re committed to an educational experience that weaves together mind, place, people and heart.

ENVIRONMENTChicago is the vibrant and exciting home to renowned libraries, museums, and excellent theater and music. Chicago is also headquarters for 30 of the Fortune 500 companies.

STUDENT CENTERED APPROACHProfessors Who Focus on You - More than 98% of all classes are taught by faculty members, not teaching assistants, who will know your name, concerns and goals.

The Steans Center for Community-based Service Learning & Community Service Studies develops mutually beneficial relationships with community organizations to engage DePaul students in educational opportunities grounded in Vincentian values of respect for human dignity and the quest for social justice.

WELCOME FROM PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Attending school thousands of miles away from your family and settling in at a university where the language, culture and social norms are completely different can be both exciting

and overwhelming. The Global Gateway Program (GGP) is here to help you with that transition. We are committed to making your experience at DePaul both enriching and successful.

Chicago, the 3rd largest city in the U.S., is home to attractions of every sort: from music to comedy to museums. For those who prefer a less lively scene, Chicago also offers over 25 miles of beautiful lakefront, boat cruises, hiking trails and spacious public gardens.

Chicago has a large, diverse economy that includes opportunities in the key areas of energy, biotech, healthcare and technology among many others. As a member of this community, DePaul’s relationships with top Chicago companies has afforded excellent opportunities to alumni and existing students. Ninety-six percent of Chicago’s largest publicly held companies, and 75% of privately held companies recruit from DePaul’s student population.

Going to school at DePaul means living in Chicago. And Chicago has endless opportunities to play and learn. It's definitely big, but it's also known for Midwestern friendliness, a strong sense of community, and its ethnic diversity, food and culture.

CAMPUS ACTIVITIESDePaul has more than 350 student clubs and organizations dedicated to community service, student government, professional development, recreational sports and more.

Find the student organization that matches your interest at depaul.edu/student-life.

STUDENT INVOLVEMENT FAIRGet involved during this semi-annual fair held at the beginning of the Fall and Winter quarters at both the Loop and Lincoln Park campuses. Get to know the student groups and have all your questions answered by members from each.

STUDENTEXPERIENCE

GETTING AROUNDAs a DePaul student, the cost to get around Chicago is included on your program financial statement. You'll get a U-Pass during your first week of classes, which gives you unlimited rides on CTA buses and trains for terms you're enrolled. So, you won't have to worry about the cost of traveling when you explore the city.

DEPAUL ART MUSEUM (DPAM) Right here on campus you can explore the DePaul Art Museum (DPAM) for FREE. The museum features international and national contemporary and historical works, including those from Salvador Dali, Francisco De Goya and Andy Warhol. There is always something new to see with rotating exhibits, screenings, talks and films throughout the year.

Public Safety provides safety escort service around campus, text messaging to share urgent information, and patrols all campus buildings and grounds.

HEALTH INSURANCEAll F-1 international students enrolled in courses at DePaul will automatically be enrolled in the ISO Student Health Insurance Plan. Direct-entry students will be charged per quarter.
