My Wonder for this week is about being creative with

technology. I would like to know how creative I can be

teaching a class of first graders using technology.

The wow factor that i really enjoyed was seeing thatteachers are now supposed to organize theircurriculum around topics that students will find

meaningful so they are not just memorizing facts andnot really taking anything in. Not only is this materialsupposed to be meaningful and interesting to thestudents but it is also supposed to be important to thesubject being taught. After reading about theteaching for understanding method i am wonderinghow many schools are doing this and how it is helpingthe students.

My "wow" would have to be the friends I've made

because of the group work. I never would have known

about these individuals or that we could be such good

friends. I do wonder what was meant by looking back

at the definitions and pictures, my mind is set in its

ways, so I don't think my opinion of such things willchange.

So my WOW for the day is that I was shocked that

we used Harry Potter for a source of learning. My

wonder would have to be why would you choose the

word "creative" when teaching understanding and

learning? The terms understanding and learning go

hand in hand with each other while being creative sortof stands alone.
