The Society's second Public Lecture on "~'lhat is ~1odern

l\ lgebra" delivered by Dr. Peng Tsu· Ann was very well attended.

His talk stimulated considerable interest in algebra and

'chere was a lengthy discussion at the end. A wr:Ct'ten version

of Dr. Peng's lecture is printed in this issue.

In the next issue there \'lill be a students' section

Junior members.

We would like to thank all those who have in. one way

or the other contributed to the success of the Medley

throughout the year. The response has been encouraging and

in 1975 there will be three issues the next issue will
