2nd 'maha dasaL'The 2nd 'Maha dasaL' was held on

Saturday, 01-10-2016 at 8.00AM at The Sourashtra Association Bangalore, Free School Building, Behind Kasi Vishwanathar Temple, Balepet Circle, Sourashtrapet, Bangalore - 560053, with the participation of large number of devotees and KUSO CommitteeMembers and families. In this function, Sri R.K. Sridharan performed the rituals.

Normally the vaishnava devotees of the community were celebrating the dasaL ceremonies in their own houses during any one Saturday of the month of Purattasi (say., during September / October) in the past. Owing to pre-occupation or employment of both husband and wife or due to some other unavoidable reasons, they were forced to ignore or discontinue the dasaL celebrations in their houses. Instead, those families who do not want to give up celebrating in their own houses, planned to celebrate a combined dasaL in a common place on any one particular Saturday. This combined dasaL was a very good and significant success in Chennai, Erode, Coimbatore, Madurai and some other sourashtra regions for the past many years. KUSO came forward to celebrate a combined dasaL from last year at Bangalore.

Sri M.R. Subbaram, Member of t h e S o u r a s h t r a A s s o c i a t i o n , Sourashtrapet, Bangalore was very much helpful with KUSO office bearers to join them in their door to door campaign to distribute invitations in Sourashtrapet region as well as us in the Nadhaswaram procession

to beg Govinda Rice and donations till end of the procession at Sourashtra Free School Building at Sourashtrapet.

Sri M.C. Muddukrishnaiah, President, The Sourashtra Association, Sourashtrapet, was very much cooperative and KUSO and facilitated in all possible ways and means to conduct maha dasaL and the feast (Samaradhanai) on Saturday, 01.10.2016.

The sourashtra people of Bangalore were collectively responsible for the successful conduct of this maha dasaL and thus paved a way to bring a constructive cooperation among the members of KUSO and the Sourashtra Association Bangalore.

CUTTING EDGE

LONDON, PTI: Almost half of young adults use their smartphones in the middle of the night to keep a tab on social media updates or personal emails, affecting the quality of their sleep, says a new UK study.

According to the UK Mobile Consumer Survey 2016, UK citizens collectively look at their smartphones over a billion times a day.

Nocturnal smartphone usage is concentrated among younger age groups, the survey found. About half of 18-24 year olds check their phone in the middle of the night.

A fifth of the younger adults said that they check instant messages or social media notifications in the middle of the night. About a seventh reply to instant messages, according to the survey.

“Consumers will need to learn how best to run their lives with smartphones, as opposed to having their lives run by their devices,” the researchers said.

HEALTHY LIVING FOR CHILDRENDO NOT WASTE FOOD

Kasi Viswanathan

Objectives

© Clean and healthy food keeps you healthy. Avoid junk food© Do not waste any food© Help your parents in serving food

Apart from learning habits of healthy living one should also pay attention to not wasting food. Many children tend to leave things on their plate and this habit should be curbed at the earliest. Periodicchecking of nails, hair and teeth of the children in the class will ensure that they learn the importance of personal hygiene.

A way to begin

© Talk to the children about the food they eat. What food do they like? Do they eat everything or do they waste food? Tell them that whenever they feel like leaving some food on the plate, they should think of their parents who have spent time and money to get it for them and think of those people who are not getting enough to eat.

© Bring to their notice how a lot of food gets wasted when there are parties. Many people take more than what they can eat and waste this food. In some places the extra food is collected and given to those who do not get enough to eat. Will it not be better to take just enough so that more people can benefit? Let the children resolve never to take more than what they can eat.

© Ask them to think of food as a gift from God. We should think Him for it before we start eating. There are many people responsible for bringing the food to our table but we cannot thank each one of them individually. So we thank God who ultimately is the one who has given us this food.

SUPPORT LEADS TO SUCCESSThe total success of a community oriented event or a function mostly depends upon the

total involvement and commitment of the people for whom such an event or a function is conducted. KUSO has been conducting “Global Jadhaga Parivarthanai Mela” since 2004. We have so far conducted 24 such ‘Melas’ twice in a year.

The response from the parents of “Nowrin / Nowran” is ever increasing and is very encouraging for the organizers of KUSO. We are making elaborate advertisement by various means. Wall posters are also prepared and arranged to be pasted in various big cities and towns for which we get support and cooperation from various people. We take this opportunity to thank the following personalities from different towns in Tamil Nadu, who have come forward for lending assistance for distribution of notices and for pasting wall posters for the 24th Global Jadhaga Parivarthanai Mela.

Members of KUSO and office bearers appreciate with gratitude, the efforts and the contributions of the following Sourashtrans, towards the success of the ‘Mela’ held on 11th September 2016:-Arni : Sri K.K.
