Whether you are running a whole fleet or driving a company car, you’ll no doubt have a wide range of requirements when it comes to business vehicles.
To help you achieve your results, we’ve
developed our new Business Plus services –
a combination of class-leading benefits and
products that can be personalised to support
you and your company. This brochure
demonstrates how Business Plus ensures you
will receive an exceptional experience with
Toyota & Lexus Fleet.
For example, last year’s revelations about
the real-world levels of pollutants emitted by
certain vehicles highlighted the environmental
importance of model choices. Demand for
cleaner, more efficient fleets continues to rise
and the pioneering hybrids offered by Toyota
and Lexus reflect this.
The Chancellor’s 2015 Autumn Statement
confirmed that the diesel tax supplement will
stay until 2021, meaning drivers choosing
diesels instead of petrol or petrol hybrid
vehicles will keep paying 3% more in company
car tax. It’s never been more important to fully
understand the impact of vehicle choices on
tax and whole-life costs. To find out how we
can help you plan a more cost-effective fleet,
turn to page 16.

The shape of things to come
For decades, ideas have driven Toyota and Lexus to create motoring landmarks. From the revolutionary Prius petrol hybrid to the latest technology behind the clean, hydrogen-powered Mirai, it all starts with a pioneering concept and a passion for engineering and design. The latest motor shows in Tokyo and Geneva offer a tantalising glimpse into the shape of things to come…
6
S-FR: total driver involvementSporty, nimble and lightweight, the new
S-FR exists to let drivers enjoy every
moment of a twisting open road.
With archetypal sports car proportions
of a long bonnet, wide stance and
short overhangs, the S-FR’s compact
and light coupé body houses a front-
mounted engine with rear-wheel drive and
independent suspension.
The result is a smooth, responsive
drive and outstanding handling – total
driver involvement.
FCV Plus: the hydrogen energy carFollowing the revolutionary Mirai launch,
the sleek Toyota FCV Plus concept has
been created to showcase our vision for
hydrogen-based societies.
More than merely a mode of transport, we
see fuel cell vehicles – such as the FCV
Plus – playing a role as power sources in
the community. As well as using its own
hydrogen tank, electricity can be generated
from hydrogen supplied from outside. So
when it’s not being driven, the FCV Plus
becomes a stable source of power that
can be shared with the community. On the
road, four independent in-wheel motors
let drivers enjoy an experience combining
optimal weight distribution and great all-
round visibility.
LF-FC CONCEPT: touch-free technologyHinting at the next-generation LS, the
LF-FC concept showcases an elegant
four-door coupé design with a distinctive,
dominant, spindle-shaped front grille.
All-wheel drive powered by a high-output
hydrogen fuel cell system provides
exceptional dynamic handling and
superior road stability. Advanced cabin
technology includes a holographic display
and non-contact hand gesture control for
adjustment of audio and ventilation.

On October 1, 1965, for the first time, customers could buy a Toyota car in the UK: the imported third-generation Corona. Fifty years on, as the company enters its next half century selling on these shores, Toyota boasts two UK factories, 4,000 local employees and 22 years building 3.35m British vehicles.
Toyota’s rise here has been swift and
decisive. It all started with a few local
dealers importing cars in the mid-sixties
– first the Toyota Corona, and then, in
1966, the legendary Corolla. By 1980,
following sales of some 200,000 cars,
Toyota had already become a major
player in the UK market.
Toyota UK: success… reloaded
The company’s heritage fleet includes the Corona saloon, the famous Corolla AE86 that helped
inspire today’s GT86 coupé, a first-generation RAV4 and one of the earliest British-built models,
a 1992-vintage Carina E.
8
Investing for the long termFast-forward nine years, to 1989, and another
defining moment: Toyota announced its intent
to invest £2bn to establish a major vehicle
manufacturing capability in Britain. By 1992,
true to its word, Toyota Manufacturing UK’s
Burnaston car plant in Derbyshire and engine
factory in Deeside, North Wales, were both in
production – providing jobs and opportunities
for more than 200 UK suppliers.
Local quality in global demandToday, manufacturing more than’ 128,000
new vehicles a year, including the latest
generation of Toyota Avensis and Auris
models, Burnaston is one of the world’s
greenest, most energy-efficient and highest-
quality automotive production facilities. Every
66 seconds, a car rolls off the line destined
for any one of 56 worldwide markets – even
including Japan. Meanwhile in Deeside some
225,000 engines are built annually, destined
for plants around the world.

Toyota’s engine testing site recreates extreme cold and searing heat to ensure vehicles will stand up to any conditions experienced in the UK.
Testing is repeated day and night, with
cars as well as engineers freezing in the
extreme cold and sweating in the extreme
heat to guarantee they will perform
properly in any environment.
Company miles are rarely driven on
beautifully surfaced roads. So Toyota
conducts testing to recreate poor road
conditions including potholed, heavily
inclined, flooded and snow-covered roads.
This includes driving nearly 600 miles in
a single day under the harshest, most
adverse driving conditions.

From 3rd January to 16th January
2016, cars, motorbikes, quads
and trucks battled some of the
world’s toughest motorsport
terrain in the Dakar Rally. After a
gruelling 13 stages and 5,500 miles
through Argentina and Bolivia,
Toyota claimed a third consecutive
win in the Production Division
category. Furthermore, over 40%
of the competitors who crossed
the finishing line in Rosario were in
a Toyota.
Seen as one of the ultimate tests
of reliability and endurance, the
Dakar Rally has been running since
1979. Toyota has been a prominent
and hugely successful competitor
because of the robustness, ease
of maintenance and reliability of its
vehicles. Both the Dakar field camera
crew and medical team put all their
trust in Toyota vehicles too.

Naturally seeding a greener business
It’s not just Toyota’s greener production processes and cleaner cars that are leading the way. In a unique project, Toyota is collaborating with Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, to introduce native British flora and fauna to the company’s UK factory sites and office locations.
12
The major ecological transformation and
restoration project at the Burnaston factory
in Derbyshire and at Burgh Heath, Toyota’s
headquarters near Epsom, Surrey, will create
and augment habitats for more than 400
different plant, insect and animal species –
many of them rare or protected.
The 2.35 million m2 (580-acre) Burnaston
site already contains areas of meadow,
grassland, wetlands, woods and hedgerows.
Working with Kew’s world-class experts in
plant science, the aim is to create a green
grid, showing how an industrial site can
support biodiversity through environmental land management. Toyota plans to create
even more natural habitats, restoring more
than 230,000 m2 by 2020.
At Burgh Heath, extensive new landscaping
and planting includes creation of a new
orchard and meadow.
“Toyota and Kew share the same environmental ambitions – using renewable energy, reducing waste to zero, reducing water use and a desire to bring wildlife back into the urban environment.”
Andrew Jackson Head of Wakehurst Place, home to Kew’s Millennium Seed Bank
SUSTAINABLE OPERATION
Toyota’s wider Sustainable Plant
strategy aims to minimise the
environmental impact of the factories
and HQ. At Burnaston, innovative
production measures minimise
waste, reduce use of natural
resources and harness sustainable
energy sources. They include the
installation of one of British industry’s
largest solar panel arrays.

Intelligent technology promises automated driving
Toyota has started testing a system designed to execute a series of driving manoeuvres safely and automatically.
Called ‘Highway Teammate’, the
system’s first trials have taken place
on Tokyo’s Shuto Expressway. The
test vehicle, a modified Lexus GS,
is capable of entirely automated
motorway driving from the slipway
entrance to the exit.
On-board systems monitor traffic
conditions, make decisions and
take actions such as merging onto
or exiting the road, maintaining or
changing lanes and keeping a set
distance from other traffic.
14
Advanced self-awarenessUsing highly accurate road map data,
Highway Teammate pinpoints the car’s
position, whilst multiple external sensors
recognise nearby vehicles and hazards,
and navigate the route and lane to the
selected destination. The steering wheel,
accelerator and brakes are all controlled
automatically, maintaining an appropriate
speed and safe driving line.
$1 billion investment, 1,400 patents filedTo advance autonomous driving, Toyota
has committed $1 billion over the next
five years to a new Toyota Research
Institute (TRI) focusing on advanced
robotics and sensing. The company
expects systems will be ready to launch
around 2020.
Using cryo-technology, the Lexus
team has created the Lexus
Hoverboard and Hoverpark –
allowing riders to ‘skate’ on a
magnetically levitated board.
The Hoverboard features two
reservoirs containing superconducting
material kept at -197°C in liquid
nitrogen. The board is placed above a
track fitted with permanent magnets
to achieve magnetic levitation. In
addition to offering a frictionless ride,
new tricks include the ability to levitate
across water.

Join more than 8 million drivers choosing to save and drive cleaner.
Sewells’ Fleet Operator Survey found
38% of fleets view whole-life cost as the
most important factor when selecting their
principal manufacturer brand; second only
to vehicle reliability.
Our petrol hybrid models address both these
factors. They reduce personal and company
tax bills, whilst having fewer components
keeps maintenance costs low.
Full petrol hybrids are also cleaner, with NOx
emissions at least 75% lower than the Euro 6
diesel limit of 80mg/km.
Ranging from frugal city cars to 7-seat MPVs,
crossover SUVs, sports coupés and spacious
estates, the latest combined range of 7 Toyota
and 8 Lexus petrol hybrid models represents,
quite simply, the world’s widest choice of
petrol hybrid vehicles available here in the UK.

Prius has always offered outstanding
efficiency, but the new model sees another
step-change leap, reducing CO2 emissions
to 70g/km and improving fuel efficiency
to deliver 94.2mpg combined. Powered
by a new generation of Toyota’s full hybrid
powertrain, acceleration is smoother and
more responsive, and is now quieter at
higher speeds.
Thanks to the Toyota New Global Architecture
(TNGA) platform, the new Prius boasts
improved driving dynamics. The car has
a low-slung stance, with a lower centre
of gravity, increased body rigidity and
enhanced suspension. Excellent impact
resistance complements the Toyota Safety
Sense package, now with the addition of
radar-managed Adaptive Cruise Control
and a pedestrian detection function for the
Pre-Crash Safety system.
All four model trim levels also benefit from
LED headlights with Automatic High Beam,
electric driver’s seat adjustment, Smart Entry
with push-button start and the Toyota Touch

control and DAB radio reception. A new
dual-zone air conditioning system, with
intelligent sensing, is also standard.
With on-the-road prices from £23,295, BIK
of just 11% (2016/17) and 100% write-down
allowance, the new Prius is congestion

Combining a 2.5-litre petrol engine, a
powerful electric motor, a generator and a
battery, RAV4 Hybrid’s full hybrid system
provides smooth, seamless acceleration.
Despite developing 195bhp/145kW,
combined cycle fuel consumption is a class-
leading 57.6mpg, whilst CO2 emissions from
115g/km will deliver welcome tax benefits.
On the AWD version a second, rear-mounted
electric motor provides electric all-wheel
drive (E-Four) without the need for a central
prop shaft, improving cabin space. The
E-Four system lets the vehicle switch
smoothly and automatically to all-wheel drive
when travelling on slippery road surfaces
or when pulling away from stationary,
maximising traction, stability and control.
In addition to new styling, RAV4 Hybrid
refinements include improved ride
comfort, dynamic performance and a
quieter cabin. Inside, there’s a new
4.2-inch multi-information screen
between the meters in the instrument
binnacle and a seven-inch, full-colour

CASE STUDY: MIRAI ARRIVES
The UK’s first Mirai vehicles, Toyota’s
hydrogen fuel cell saloons, have been
handed over to business customers
ITM Power and Greentomatocars.
Following fuel cell technology research
spanning two decades, and applying
world-leading experience in hybrid vehicle
power systems, Mirai is the world’s first
mass production hydrogen fuel cell vehicle.
Using hydrogen gas to generate electricity
within a fuel cell stack, Mirai’s only tailpipe
emission is harmless water.
Spacious, refined, comfortable and safe,
Mirai combines advanced technology
with everyday practicality: a full tank has
a driving range of around 300 miles and
refuelling only takes about three minutes
to complete.
ITM Power manufactures integrated
hydrogen energy solutions. Dr Graham
Cooley, Chief Executive Officer, said: “The
Mirai fuel cell vehicle is, quite simply, the
future of transport and we are delighted to
be part of that future.”

LEXUS GS 300H MARKS HYBRID DEBUT FOR LITTLE’S LUXURY FLEET
Little’s luxury chauffeur drive has
introduced its first hybrid vehicles,
adding five Lexus GS 300h to its
limousine fleet in Scotland.
The full hybrid saloons are helping the
business strengthen its environmental
profile by offering customers prestige
transport with greener performance.
Choosing the luxurious SE version of the
GS 300h means that in slow-moving city
traffic chauffeurs will be able to select all-
electric EV mode. The full hybrid powertrain
allows the car to run in near silence, while
reducing tailpipe emissions and fuel
consumption to zero.
Heather Matthews, Managing Director,
said: “The Lexus are the first hybrids we
have used and we are confident they
will add an important and attractive new
dimension to our luxury vehicle fleet. They
provide a very smooth and refined ride
and a luxurious, quiet cabin environment,
maintaining the high standards of quality
and comfort we require of all our vehicles.”
