THIS SUNDAY: Kids Alive -Advent and Christmas Theme (Lower Hall); Youth - Youth
Class with Jean (Youth Room)
BACKPACKS 4 STREET YOUTH – our annual youth ministry outreach will
happen on December 15 at Jean and Wayne’s home. Plan to arrive by 5:00
pm. We will break into teams and shop for items to fill the backpacks and then
return for supper and “acking”. Two drivers are needed. Also, if you can help
by donating a new backpack (3 are needed), bus passes, Horton’s cards, cash,
socks, warm hats, etc., please see Jean.

Our love, thoughts and prayers are with Susan Galpin and family, whose husband, Dennis Galpin, passed away on Sunday November 26, 2017.
Funeral Service for Connie Harris, who passed Nov 23/17, will be held at
Glenburnie United Church on Saturday December 9 at 1pm. “In life, in death, in life beyond death, God is with us. Thanks be to God.”
Christmas Church Family Turkey Dinner TODAY at 5:30p followed by
Annual Kids Alive Christmas Pageant (6:45 pm) in the sanctuary.
The Nativity which again graces our Chancel during this Advent Season was
dedicated in 1995 by Rev. Paul Currie to the Loving Memory of Jeffrey Gerald Rodger, son of Marilyn and the Late Gerry Rodger for all to enjoy.
UNIT 2 STOCKING PROJECT!
PLEASE HELP We have 9 left for Boys 16+ Check inside each for
suggestions. Be sure to include gifts of warmth, snack foods and
personal hygiene products and maybe a gift card for a treat! Sacks are
due back NEXT Sunday, Dec. 10. Please speak to Patti Speck,

filling the sack. We are committed to filling each one handed out within this
Dec 3rd Pageant Rehearsal for Children and Youth who at 10:00 am are to go

TODAY, the Chancel Choir, soloists, the Limestone Ringers and
narrator Mike Bullett will offer morning worship in the form of a new
Advent/Christmas Cantata by Laurence titled
“LOVE'S BRIGHT NEW FACE" . This Cantata service is an act of worship seeking to draw attention to the
Advent season and telling the story of the prophecy and birth time of
Jesus Christ. It is hoped that through music the congregation's
observance and enjoyment of this very special time of year will be
enhanced as we prepare to celebrate the coming of love's bright new
face, Jesus Christ, throughout Advent.

Salvation Army Kettle Campaign
The Neighborhood Needs Team has volunteered to look after the Salvation Army Kettle for Saturday, December 9 at Loblaws at Midland Avenue There is a signup sheet in the
UCW Christmas General Meeting The annual UCW Christmas General meeting is on Tuesday, December 5th at
1:30 in the Lower Hall. All members and friends are encouraged to attend to join in some fun and socializing. We will start with a short business meeting followed
by a time to sing carols and challenge ourselves with some Christmas trivia. Don’t miss our special guest – there will be a team of reporters
on hand to interview her!

The Bay of Quinte Conference is planning a trip to El Salvador to be hosted by Iglesia Bautista
Emmanuel (ERMUC’s partner church) for high school youth and adults. Cost $1,000. They are
seeking expressions of interest now and can only take up to 30 people, including the leadership team
(4-6 people). If you are interested, please pick up the Bay of Quinte Conference letter which explains
what you need to do to express your interest and get on the list! Speak to Jean if you wish more
information about the trip and what to expect.

Colegio Bautista Emmanuel (CBE) scholarship program
The Council of Elders, at its meeting May 23, gave its approval for our church to support this fantastic little school in San Salvador and its scholarship program. These scholarships provide an opportunity for children and young people from the poorest part of the city to attend a very good school and experience the hope of a promising future. The school is one of several programs operated by the Iglesia Bautista Emmanuel (Emmanuel Baptist Church), which is twinned with us here at Edith Rankin. $200 USD ($255 CDN) pays for an elementary school child to attend for one year. $300 USD ($383 CDN) pays for a high school student to attend for one year $500 USD ($640 CDN) pays for a university student to attend for one year The amounts above are the costs per student to attend. Use this as a guide to your giving, but don’t be restricted by it. Any amount donated will be appreciated and will be sent directly to San Salvador in time for their second school term. An opportunity to support this wonderful program will be provided over the next several Sundays. Special grey-coloured offering envelopes will be available for you to use
