Patrick Fiore Significant SoulsPaintings inspired by

Howard Zinns Peoples History of the United States 1492-presentExhibit: April 8 May 4 Meet The Artist Reception & Talk Monday April 8 4:30 6:30 pm

Utica-native Patrick Fiore returns to share the first in his national exhibit tour with his hometown and regional communitySignificant Souls speaks to the importance of each life that weaves together our nations textural history. Patrick serves aProfessor of Illustration at Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. Workshops and discussions with Patrick

are available during the exhibit month with reservations for courses and students. The gallery and artist will offer discussionsand classroom participation in the gallery through scheduled appointment times.

By Howard Zinn 2009Patrick Fiore is an accomplished artist, who has had many exhibitions in Florida and New York, who has been commissionedto produce paintings in at least a dozen venues, whose work has been published in the Washington Post, the New YorkTimes, and graced many books. He has won numerous awards, has written articles for various newspapers and magazines, and has lectured in different parts of the country. He has been teaching at the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota,Florida for twenty years. Even with all of these accomplishments, it was a bold step for him to take on the daunting challengeof doing a series of paintings based on my book A PEOPLES HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES. What attracts me tohis work is his profound understanding of the connection between art and social struggle. To join my work in history with hispaintings is a striking expression of that connection.
