Junior Section Golf Event Our annual Junior Section Golf tournament was blessed with a gloriously sunny spring afternoon and a good entry of
eighteen boys representing four companies. From beginners through to seasoned golfers there were some great shots
played and of course some that were indicative of novice status. The competition was played on Saturday 30 th April,
2016, over the first six holes of the Hermitage of Braid course which was in great condition for low scoring.
A magnificent level par round of 22 saw Ross Wolfenden, 1st West Linton Company retain the winner’s trophy. Well
done to Ross who also won the nearest the pin competition at the 3rd hole. The longest drive competition on the 5th hole,
was won by Tom Weir, 1st West Linton Company, who also finished runner up in the main event with a very creditable
score of 31 strokes. Third place went to Charlie McPherson, 25th Edinburgh Company, with a score of 33 strokes.

What’s been happening in our Battalion?
Anchors & Juniors Dirleton Castle Visit The Anchor Boy sections and the Junior Sections had a wonderful afternoon out at Dirleton Castle on Sunday 24 April. The
afternoon started with a welcome and short service led by Rev Iain Gilmour. This was a perfect start to the afternoon with
some 140 Boys and 25 leaders gathered together in the Great hall area listening in the glorious sunshine and beautiful
surroundings.
Then it was off to explore the castle, the grounds, and to take part in the archery and shield making. The Boys enjoyed the 2
activities and they loved scrambling around the castle walls and up and down the various steps and rooms.
The sunshine enabled everyone to be relaxed, and to enjoy the gardens and the lawns as we sat and consumed our simple
snack of crisps and juice.
Well done and thank you to leaders and parents for bringing the Boys to Dirleton and for spending a wonderful afternoon
as a Battalion group enjoying the large company.

Well done to all who took part.
Easter Themes – Spy Wednesday (Judas the Spy Camp) The leaders and Boys of the 10th Leith Junior Section led the Wednesday evening service of the Easter Week services in the
Leith churches. As the Wednesday theme was about betrayal and Judas betraying Jesus the JS took up this up as a ‘spy in
the camp’ theme with many boys coming disguised as spies. The leaders and Boys received several ‘well done’ messages
and the Boys really did take the messages of betrayal and faithfulness fully to heart.

Join Christian Aid for “Another Way” in 2016 In 2015 Christian Aid explored the mountains of Scotland through our 70 Munros challenge. On this inspiring and
challenging journey many people found the time and space to reflect on the way we live and how this has an impact on the
10
lives of others.
This year CA would like to invite you to take part in Another Way – a series of events that will encourage us to live and
work another way in a global context. There’s something for everyone and it is hoped to encourage BB companies and
individuals to get involved. To find out more about the events you can take part in visit:
