    KYMBER WARD

STAFF EDITORThe Herbal Chef aka Chris Sayegh has been in thecannabis scene for several years. Prior to entering themarijuana industry, the molecular biology student turnedchef worked under some of the best chefs at Michelinstarred restaurants in Los Angeles. After leaving theUniversity of Santa Cruz, Chris went to Melisses headchef and explained his dream, who ultimately gave him achance. He worked for no pay for three months, soakingup all that the chefs had to offer. Every Wednesday, hespent the early hours of the morning wandering farmersmarkets, learning about ingredients, menus, and thereasons behind choosing them.He entered the cannabis world after falling in love with

the plant back in college. When asked why he got involvedwith marijuana he explained, It was a natural synergy. Itfelt so right and it was combini ng two of my favorite things[cannabis and food], so why not!

He began hosting private dining parties in 2013, andas they say, the rest is history. Chris said, The point increating The Herbal Chef was to elevate the perception ofmarijuana and elevate consciousness. I am so tired of beingcalled a stoner or looked at as lazy or unmotivated. I am

just really tired of this herb having such a bad reputation. The Herbal Chef offers a full line of edibles includingeverything from ice cream and sorbet to marinara andpesto sauces, baked goods, and much more. However, perhaps the most innovative idea to hit the edibl es market,

thus far, is his new line of nutritional infused frozen dinners. The Herbal Chefs CBD/THC Frozen Meals are infusedwith Hemp CBD, Whole Plant CBD or THC designed toprovide necessary nutrients while medicating. Why putmedicine into things that may hurt you I want to have a lineof healthy meals that taste delicious, proclaimed the chef.He went on to explain that the inspiration behind this ideawas a family friend who suffers from stage IV cancer andexplained how hard it was to maintain proper nutritionwhile undergoing chemo. After treatment he is lethargic

and cooking is typically out of the question. Not ostrong chemicals from the chemo drain the nutof patients, but also the inability to properly feedmakes it hard for patients to muster up energy t

themselves. Chris thought there must be a better wpatients using two of his favorite things, cannabisThus, the idea of infused frozen meals came to fruitIf patients choose to use THC or CBD to help with ssmoking is not always the preferred method. CBD REVIEW:

    CHARD BELLAFF EDITOR

m a C5/6 quadriplegic, and suffer from different types of neurologicaln, and insomnia. Since ending the use of all pharmaceutical medications,

ave been extremely spastic, and have noticed that CBD works really wellrmy spasticity. So, I was excited to discover that Happy Seed Edibles hashigh CBD version of their Gummy Cup.

appy Seed Edibles boasts a large product line including Dankies, a spin one cult favorite Twinkie. They also offer an assortment of rice crispy treats, nuts, hard candies, a number of baked goods under the Buddha Bakede, and Green Mountain Honey. They have a full spectrum of productsluding several options made with Sativa, Indica, Hybrid and CBD.

ese made-from-scratch gummies are an excellent, professionallyckaged product suited for my specific needs. They even brought meck to my childhood candy binges. The Cherry Bomb has a very pleasant

weet and sour flavor with a mild herbal finish.s edible works perfectly for me because I am a lightweight. The dosageludes 20mg CBD, and 5mg THC. I am also an artist/painter, and needbe clear-headed as I work. I discovered that eating 1/3 of the Gummyp at a time was the best dosage for me. After about 15 minutes, myasticity subsided significantly and eventually stopped entirely. My pain levelo decreased, but I am still alert enough to continue working. Happy Seed

achieves the desired effect by using both hemp and whole plant CBD.

In my test of their products, when it was time to go to sleep, I had to switchto a THC rich medicine. I gave the Gummy Cup another try when I wokeup the next morning to see if it would interfere with my work. I am happy toreport that it was great being able to work all day without being interruptedby spasms and pain spikes.

We all have various physiological differences and tolerance levels that mayaffect efficacy. If you have not already, you should consult with a physicianto determine the best path for you. With that, I highly recommendthis product. It is perfect for those of you who need to work during theday without feeling high or drowsy, but need to be medicated to keepsymptoms at bay.

The folks at Happy Seed explained that they do things a bit differently. Weasked them about their infusion process and were surprised to hearthere was not only one but three infusion processes. They use three

different processes consisting of CannaButter, alcohol tincture reductionand dry ice extraction; Together, we find it makes a perfect blend of activeingredients, explained the owner.

It is clear that Happy Seed teams dedication to using lab-tested, highquality, locally sourced products pays off! This product is extremely freshand does not taste like preservatives as many gummy candies on themarket do, both infused and non-infused. FEATURED ARTICLE:

as CBD from Cannabis? Settling the DebIs CBD from Cannabis the S

    CHARLIE BOUCHER& STUART TOMC

You may go ahead and re-read that titlenow. While it may seem like an obviousresponse or even rhetorical question

to ask, this question has popped up onforums, in dispensaries and independent,

specialty natural products stores, withinthe Cannabis industry, and various mediaplatforms. We felt it was time to dive inand settle any debate to clear the water.

The root of this debate is whether CBD(cannabidiol) sourced from low THC(delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol)/ highCBD strains of Cannabis (typically calledindustrial Hemp at less than 0.3% THCconcentration in aerial parts of theplant) would somehow be considereddifferent or ineffective compared to CBDsourced from higher THC/ low CBDstrains of Cannabis (i.e., Marijuana). If

youre following the Cannabis discussionnationwide and globally, or if youre an avidreader, there is no doubt youve heardof CBDthe other major, fascinatingcannabinoid that has non-euphoric, anti-inflammatory, anxiolytic, antipsychotic, metabolic health and neuroprotectivebenefits, among others. This is incontrast to the physiologic action ofTHC, and other cannabinoids. However,

there are over 90 other cannabinoidcompounds found in Cannabis, themajority of have yet to be studiedmore extensively in biological systems.

For those readers who have shunnedorganic chemistry with extremeaversion First, youre not alone!Next, let us be clear that the laws ofphysics, chemistry, physical chemistryand biochemistry remain the samewhether the molecule is synthesizedwithin and sourced from a Cannabis(Hemp) plant, or a Cannabis (Marijuana)

plant. A molecule of any compound iscomposed of a specific arrangementand configuration of atoms, with aspecific bonding pattern. The strainof Cannabis plant, regardless of itspercentage or ratio of CBD/THC, doesNOT change these fundamental truths. As such, when it is administered the

human body does not recognize thatthe CBD compound was somehowsourced from Marijuana vs. Hemp, and certainly all the biologic activity, interactions with various enzymes andreceptors specific to CBD also remains

the same. The human physiology doesnot make a conscious decision to treatCBD differently because it was sourcedfrom whole-plant hemp material

    vs. whole-plant marijuana material.

CBD-rich strains of Cannabis thatcategorizes the plant as Hemp vs.Marijuana (or simply Cannabis that hasgreater than 0.3% in THC) are driven by

the expression of genotypes that directtheir phenotypic characteristics. Thegenotypes of various Cannabis strainsdictate the biosynthetic pathways thatresult in different phenotypes and

variations in cannabinoid, terpene, stilbene and flavonoid profiles orfingerprints. However, assessing

the different structure/functionrelationships of plants with differentcannabinoid and flavonoid profiles isan entirely different question thanwhether the CBD from these distinctstrains are inherently different.

We can draw an analogy from thedietary supplement /nutraceutical spaceregarding DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid),

the long-chain omega-3 polyunsaturatedfatty acid found in fish oil. Interestingly,

the dietary sources of DHA are broadand varied, from fatty cold-water fish

to purified f ish oil (menhaden, salmon,

mackerel, anchovies, etc.) tkrill, organ meats (e.g., liveregg yolks. The argument beinby some in the establishedindustry would be akin to

that DHA from menhaden isdifferent or superior to thmicroalgae, or vice versa. O

Sensi Products has done it again!Known for their consistency, potencyand professionalism, they have createda new line of chews called the SensiChew Vitamin Family. The Vitamin FamilyChews are fruit and nut chews, eachmeant to target specific health needs. The three new chews are: Immunity,Antioxidant, and Power. Each of thesecome in a single dose, 25mg bar,and carefully formulated with specific

vitamins and minerals to achieve thedesired effect. The Sensi Chew Vitamin Familyaddresses three targeted healthareas; boosting the immune system, protection from free radicals, andathletic endurance and recovery.Though the FDA does not recognizecannabis as a supplement or vitamin, studies have shown it alleviates certainsymptoms, and in congruence with

vitamins like Zinc and Omega 3, thesechews are most definitely something

that will be highly beneficial to your body.

Sensi Chew Immunity is a medicatedfruit and nut caramel chew infused withorganic Omega-3, Vitamin C and Zinc. This formulation is specifically meant toboost your immune system. Omega-3is essential to your body, but it cannotmake them, they must be consumed

via food. Vitamin C is a necessity incell growth and regeneration and yourimmune system relies heavily on Zinc. When I first opened the package, thebar reminded me of Sensis Mahjoun;I love the Mahjoun! The chew is soft, but has some harder textures from thenuts. The cannabis taste is definitelyprevalent, but is more subdued than

the regular Sensi Chews. The Sensi Chew Antioxidant is infusedwith organic Vitamin A, Vitamin Cand Vitamin E. This formulation helpsprotect the body from formation andelimination of free radicals caused fromstress and toxins. Free radicals areatoms that cause cell damage, whichcan lead to severe illnesses. Theseantioxidant enriched chews will help tokeep free radicals under control. All

three chews are similar intexture, but I actually preferthis one to the rest. hefs corner:

    HE HERBAL CHEFTAFF EDITOR

r glorious Golden State has turned green; its about time! Alongth all of the new dispensaries, extraction methods, strains, andon comes a new set of regulations. Colorado was the first to

t precedent in the cannabis regulatory standard realm, and Iust admit - we [California] can do it better. Colorados board ofgulators, has done a great job regulating the sale and distributionmarijuana, but I believe that we can set a better standard. I wontre you with the details (you can see sources below), but I amecifically talking about the regulation of our beloved edibles.

a Michelin trained Chef, and thoroughly being involved in theinary world as well as manufacturing and production, I do not

e the difference between my medicated cupcake and my non-edicated cupcake. By that, I mean that just because it is cannabisused doesnt mean you can throw it in a plastic baggie and slapticker on it. Edibles are still food. In my humble opinion (which I will

y and push onto everyone I meet), we should be regulating edibleckaging and labeling as the FDA regulates all other food.

e have the right to know what is in our edibles and especially tove them packaged properly. When I go to a dispensary and seems packaged in a plastic condiment container or in cellophaneap, I cringe. Bacteria love to hang out in cool, oxygenated spacesth a bit of moisture. So if it is not a shelf stable product andsteurized before bottling or packaging in a sanitary environment,e bacteria spores will go crazy once it has time to cool. This is theuff to be wary of.

    hat to look out for:

Packaging that is completely sealed off.

You are more than likely safe with chocolates, that doesntean chocolate cake - it means pure chocolate. Chocolate hasry little room for bacteria if any at all. It can also keep at roommperature and will be fine.

Any baked items are a little tricky. Make sure to seee produced on date and check for freshness. If it wasnt in afrigerator, be careful.

Anything bottled, such as my marinara sauces or saladessings, make sure they have a pressurized lid and a shrink wrap

ound the top. Be smart out there folks.

ope that soon we can all demand a certain standard from ourpensaries and the edibles they carry. I like kimchi, and cheese

st as much as the next person, but please, push to regulate to theA standard- otherwise enjoy the lousy packaging just waiting forcteria to grow.

    featured NEWS:

    YMBER WARDAFF EDITOR

an, was it like Christmas Day when I walked into the Edibles List office tod a bag of Remedy Plus edibles sitting on my desk. The folks at Remedyre extremely gracious and gave us close to fifteen different options to

view. However, my only problem which one do I pick?! As much as Iuld have loved to evaluate all fifteen options, I went the adult route andked three; because well, I had to be coherent enough to write this.tead of specifically choosing the products I thought it would be much

ore interesting to pick them blindly out of the bag. I pulled out a packageGummi Buddies, OG Peach Rings and the new Adios Muddasuckas.

a market saturated by gummy vendors, Remedy has managed to setemselves apart from the competition. The gold opaque packaging ise-catching, and for those of us who have shiny ball syndrome it is tooticing to walk away from Well-played Remedy, well-played.

e Gummi Buddies are precisely what you may think they are, gummyars with a kick. They seemed to be rolled in sugar after they are sprayed

h CO2 oil. I dont hate this, I love me some sugar! Remedy only uses2, as providing safe products to consumers is their top priority andey do not believe in using butane in their products. The specific packageas given contained a total of 150mg split between 15 gummies mg per gummy is the perfect starter dose! Please note: Remedyes offer 300mg packages as well and are coming out with a CBD lineortly. Out of all of my choices these covered the taste of the pot thest, I think rolling them around in granulated sugar may have helped.

The second package I opened was the 150mg OG Peach Rings, whichonly contains 7 pieces, approximately 21mg each. I am actually superstoked on this choice of mine as I used to live off of Peach-Os in highschool! Can you say YUM?! These are delicious and absolutely take meright back to my teens. The CO2 taste is not as not noticeable in this edibleas in some of the others. I ate two of these and was feeling really good.

Last but not least, the Adios Muddasuckas. PS Remedy, I starteduncontrollably laughing about the name points for originality! Thesemango chili lollipops are good, but I would like to have seen morespiciness to it. I love Mexican candies and being from SoCal, I knowMexican candies! I think some more chili and a pinch of lime would do the

trick for spicy lovers like me. You can taste the cannabis quite a bit, butflavors of the sucker mix well with it. The mango part is spot on! Thesewere more potent than my other choices; with a total of 100mg in thepackage and only three lollies, these weigh in at about 33mg each. Allaround I like this new edible of yours Remedy, and I look forward to see

what new south of the border candies you come out with! All in all, Remedy Plus provides quality edibles, with great flavors, and a cleanhigh. In total I consumed 60mg between all three of my choices and I didnot feel too high to function. As I previously mentioned I really dig the idea ofa south of the border product line and cant wait to see what comes next!

sappointed with the edibles they saw available in the market, ikom Treats planted their roots at home making their own infusedoducts for personal use. While most edibles were inconsistent andcking in flavor, they wanted to create a higher quality of standard

th medical marijuana edibles. They have a full line of delicious bakedoods, but their newest addition is their cannabis infused coconut oil.

We started this company realizing it was a niche market for peopleat didnt want to smoke. There are pros and cons to both, but the

gesting side is unique as it is a digestion process, and so it resultsmuch more of the body high than head high feeling. So it has a

much longer lasting effect that smoking. Also it is very discreet.

They use a heat-only infusion process because it is a natural, chemical/solvent-free process, and also ensures that the cannabinoids are fullyactivated and ready for the body to absorb when taken. The coconutoil comes in a 4 ounce jar, which is equivalent to half a cup. Youcan use the whole jar for a cake or a dozen cookies or brownies.Alternatively, you can also use the coconut oil as a spread or to cookwith like any other butter.

Coconut oil is a medium chain triglyceride (a healthy saturated fat). When cannabis infused coconut oil is absorbed by the body the onsetoccurs much quicker than an animal fat. Some of the health benefits ofcoconut oil include reduced risk of heart disease, healthy skin and nails,it aids in weight loss by burning more fat, it fights bacteria and infectionsand stimulates brain function preventing Alzheimers disease.

Topically, this infused coconut oil is all purpose great moisturizerand first aid kit addition. The coconut oil stimulates collagen and cellgrowth, which the cannabis will help with any dermatological issuesor physical pain. You can also use it to moisturize hair if you have dry

or brittle hair follicles. For our review, we infused this superfood medicine into Germanchocolate cake. The effects of a 5 dose intake (approximately twosmall pieces of cake), were an extremely pleasant head change thatallowed for pain relief and uninterrupted rest. We highly recommend

trying out Trikom Treats Cannabis Infused Coconut Oil.

There are few things in this life that I enjoy more thancannabis and well, donuts. Donuts are a wonderfully sinful

treat that I just cannot stay away from. Strictly Edibles hasmanaged to combine these two wonderful things to createone magnificent concoction, a cannabis infused donut!

I mean honestly, if you arent as excited as I am you shouldreally re-evaluate your priorities in life. Let me mention, theseare by far some of the best tasting edibles on the market. Youshould not take my word for it, go out and get one seriously.

The amazingness does not stop with just donuts, oh no, braceyourself; their menu boasts an assortment of brownies, cookies, crispy treats, donuts, Lolos, The Beast (aptly namedand will be touched upon later), and many more products

to choose from. Lolos deserve an explanation; a Lolo is amiraculous cake, either chocolate or red velvet, filled with anon-dairy cream, covered in either dark chocolate or whitechocolate; and just so you know, they are simply divine.

The mini-donuts are packaged in an opaque resealablebag with all pertinent information easily found on the frontof the package. The information includes: nutritional facts, ingredients, and a full explanation of the product inside. The resealable bag is great because it really keeps theproducts and fresh for a while. The they do not disappoint.

At first glance, they seem as if they could be noruntil you bite into one. The cake has a bit of a greeas Strictly uses cannabutter as their infusion mdo not taste the cannabis at all in the beginningcreeps up in the aftertaste and to me it actuslightly like green tea. m no stranger to balms and different topical ointments.ter suffering a spinal cord injury in 2002, I havepersensitivity in my upper right arm and neck. Iveed all kinds of topical ointments to help alleviate thescomfort. The first option recommended to me byy physician was lidocaine patches. That worked well

nough, but it was so painful to take the patch off, it justasnt worth it. After that, I went the holistic route andxperimented with different herbal balms. Some worketter than others, but nothing was impressive enoughr me to keep using any particular brand until I triedragon Balm by Love & Light Bakery.

have been using it for just about a week, and it isntastic. It comes in a roll-on type of container. Upon

pening the lid, your nose is flooded with a mixture ofint and eucalyptus, which is delightfully aromatic. Afterading the ingredients, you can see why. Not only is itade using high-quality cannabis infused coconut oil

which Love & Light sells at wholesale), but also is richth eleven kinds of essential oils.

he use of essential oils in the Dragon Balm is verympressive to me as I use many of them for respiratorysues and general health care. Dragon Balm is just as

mpressive in application. I would apply it in the morningnd not have any hypersensitivity issues for the entireay. It also works great for edema. Because Im in aeated position all day, I tend to get swelling in my ankles.nce Ive been using this balm, my swelling has notablyssened. This is a non-narcotic deep pain relief thatuly works!

here are so many salves on the market that Im sureis will not be the last balm that I use, but if it were, Iould certainly be okay with it. If interested in Dragonalm, go to: www.loveandlightbakery.com

    Cover feature:

    DR. ALLEN MILLERSTAFF EDITOR

We have seen a dramatic change in how animalsnegotiate thier environment. In the wild animals eatfrom food sources we both manage and that comefrom the landscape. We are seeing an uptick inCancers, Autoimmune Disorders, Tumors, virusesas well as numerous other diseases that wererare or nonexistent not 10 years earlier. Miceare the most commonly used vertebrate species, popular because of their availability, size, low cost, ease of handling, and fast reproduction rate. (D.Mahdi, personal communication, 2007)] Anotherreason rodents are used as models in medical

testing is that theyre genetic, biological and behaviorcharacteristics closely resemble those of humans, and many symptoms of human conditions canbe replicated in mice and rats. However, we haveanimals such as, dogs, cats, horses and even deer

that are showing effects of disease outside thelab that are acting and reproducing lab results.Recently my cat a Maine Coon started showingsymptomology consistent with Stomatitis Dentalis, which WebMD defines stomatitis, a conditioncaused by canker sores, cold sores and otherirritations in the mouth. In the regards to my cat,

this is a virus that is an autoimmune disorder thatattacks the dentin in the teeth, causing inflammationand pain. The conventional treatment for this

condition is extracting all the teeth or a lifetime of anti-inflammatory drugs like steroids or animal herbs. This was rare to non-existent just a few years ago butis rapidly rising in numbers. Additionally, were seeing

this condition even though non-transmittable inchildren once their teeth come in. Now we are seeingdeer in the Midwest presenting with Tumors causedby a variety of viruses and inflammatory disorders.

Coincidently a 2012 study was published, Longterm toxicity of a Roundup herbicide and a Roundup-tolerant genetically modified maize by a group ofFrench scientists led by Gilles-Eric Sralini, claims

that a Monsanto herbicide-tolerant GM corn andRoundup, Monsantos brand name for the herbicide, caused severe diseases and tumor growths in rats.(Seralini, 06/24/2014, p. 2) Roundup is a commonoutdoors herbicide used everywhere to kill weeds,

insects etc. There is no non-GMO corn in the UnitedStates and it is grown and proliferated in the Midwest. As I stated, animals such as deer are suffering fromTumors from unexplained reasons, however, theTumors are similar to the Tumors seen in rats from

the Monsanto study. But taking this premise further, consistent with the article I wrote on Inflammation.;our bodies have an immune system that protectsus from foreign invaders that can cause diseaseand infection; however, if you have an autoimmunedisease, your immune system attacks itself bymistake, causing illness. (VCA Animal Hospital,2014, p. 2) The immune cells fail to distinguish thebodys normal healthy cells from foreign cells and

thus try to destroy the normal tissues. The cause ofthis mistake is not well understood. Autoimmunedisease can affect a single system or multiple bodysystems. Autoimmune diseases can affect the skin, connective tissue, nerves, muscles, the endocrinesystem (the system that controls hormones andother chemicals), and the digestive system.

What we are seeing are multiple factors of ourenvironment, our food, our, water and our air thatcontains particles of substances that are causing

these diseases in our pets, food sources, andourselves. Many industrialized nations such asCanada are outlawing GMO Foods for this veryreason attempting to keep their population andfood sources healthy. What we are seeing is a

is important to note that too much THC is highly toxic to dogs. Consult your veterinarian with using cannabidiol or THC for your pet.st as a dogs hearing is greatlly more sensitive than ours, the same holds true for an animals response to THC. While some specialses may require THC, we highly recommend CBD for animal conditions. Start with just a milligram a day and work up from there.

We do know from use in humans and also anecdotal use in pets that thecannabidiol has anti-anxiety effects, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-pain, saidDr. Jeff Werber, a veterinarian in Los Angeles. weet Mary Jane is a Marijuana Infused Products Bakery or MIP, basedBoulder, Colorado. They opened with a medical infusion license back2010 and began creating high-end, gourmet, baked goods. Shortlyereafter founder Karin Lazarus began looking into cannabidiol, mostmmonly known as CBD and what this compound of cannabis cantually do for her patients. It was then that she decided to create a fulle of tinctures including CBD, THCA and THC.

rrently, the line of CBD tinctures called Re-Leaf offers 1:1, 2:1, 3:1, 6:1,d 18:1 CBD/THC ratios and come in one ounce bottles. Due to theerwhelming need for CBD, the company has created their own growhich is composed of 75% CBD plants. Sweet Mary Jane even offers a

e for your furry companions! Creature Comfort is a THCA (inactivatedHC) tincture that will not get your pet high and all proceeds are donatedthe Wild Animal Sanctuary in Hudson, Colorado.

of their tinctures are solventless and the carrier is organic hempseedWhen we were looking at how to make a medicine for people, not

st baked goods, we didnt want to use any solvents. I never want to takechance with something like a CBD medication, explained Karin. Tano,

who heads the tincture department, explained that their commitment toquality is their number one goal. Not only do they test, but also triple test

their products. They have in-house testing protocols they follow beforethey even send samples out to two separate third-party testing facilities.

Sweet Mary Jane is an honest edible company and takes pride and joyin treating their patients. They strive to accurately portray the ingredientsin their tinctures and in and effort to increase precision, Tano actuallycreated an automated system for the tincture recipes. By doing so, theyare not only maintaining quality control, but are able to increase volumerapidly, In the past 18 months, we have scaled up from producing 500bottles a month to close to 500 per week, explained Tano.

Sweet Mary Jane of Boulder is truly a company working to help patients; itis not all about the greenbacks for them. They work in assisting to create

a better quality of life for their patients. Our mission at Edibles List hasalways been to help get the medicine in the patients hands that need itand Sweet Mary Jane is certainly one of those companies we hope thatmore patients will get their hands on. CANNABIS JIDDEHS SPINACH PIESJiddeh means Grandmother in Arabic. Tostay true to my roots, I wanted to include thisphenomenal baked good that has been a staple atevery dinner my family has ever had.

structions:mbine hot water, sugar, salt and yeast, mix gently with a whisk and then let sit for 10 minutes to let the yeast activate. Combine with themaining water. Put your flour into a large bowl and slowly add the water to i t. For every cup water you add, add in cannabis olive oil. Kneade dough with your hand until it is smooth, it shouldnt stick to your fingers. You may need to add a small amount of flour if the dough feels toocky. Let sit for 2 hours with a damp cloth over it to rise. Freeze or set aside to make fresh.

at pan on medium flame. Add the olive oil first. Then add the diced onions with the sumac and saut for 3-5 mins. Not quite translucent, butough time for the sumac to really open up and infuse its flavor. Add the spinach (if your pan isnt big enough, do this is smaller batches) andok until wilted. Add the sour salt and pepper to taste. Mix in pine nuts (optional). Take the contents out of the pan and put it into a table-cloth toain until dried. Make sure the taste is still sour and if not, add a little more salt. Do not add lemon. Roll the dough into 1 balls and flatten outh a rolling-pin. Add in the spinach filling and fold the tops in and the bottom up to create a triangle (although you can shape it however youd). Brush with egg whites and water. e legalization of recreational marijuana for adults o ver 21ars was approved by Oregon voters old back in Novemberlast year; however, from then to now has been a slow-

oving and confusing process to follow. On July 1, legislationas approved to allow adults 21+ to possess and usecreational cannabis and grow up to 4 plants at home. Theoblems flooded in because it remained illegal to actuallynd recreational pot, as applications for retail licenses willt open until early 2016. Shops are expected to open laterthe year. In light of this predicament, cultivators began

    ving away weed for free.

ss than a month after the free weed rule was implementedov. Kate Brown signed a bill allowing medical marijuanaspensaries to sell a limited amount of recreational weedany person ove r the age of 21. The bill permits 7 gramsdried cannabis may be sold to anyone with a valid ID.e Huffington Post published a statement from Kristenainger, Browns spokeswoman, stating the bill is a smartlution to a short-term logistical problem.

nnabis infused products including topicals, edibles, ncentrates will not be available for sale until the recreationalores open. The Oregon Liquor Control Commission OLCC,still trying to figure out the best way to make sure anynnabis sold in Oregon will be grown in Oregon. Oregon

gislature implemented earlier recreational marijuana salese to being afraid that the number of medicinal patientsselling cannabis on the black market would skyrocket.

me critics fear that mixing recreational with medicinalograms will cause friction and ultimately end the medicalogram much like Washington State. It is important toep the medical programs open for true patients who usennabis not for enjoyment but to help their quality of life. Itmains to be seen if this will help the cannabis market ornder the expansion as some critics fear, but for now it is aaiting game until October 1 to see what ultimately will happen.

    MARTIN A. LEEPROJECT CBD

It doesnt get you high, but its causing a buzzamong medical scientists and patients. Thepast year has seen a surge of interest incannabidiol (CBD), a non-intoxicating cannabiscompound with significant therapeuticproperties. Numerous commercial start-upsand internet retailers have jumped on theCBD bandwagon, touting CBD derived fromindustrial hemp as the next big thing, a miracleoil that can shrink tumors, quell seizures, andease chronic painwithout making people feelstoned. But along with a growing awarenessof cannabidiol as a potential health aid therehas been a proliferation of misconceptionsabout CBD.

    1. CBD is medical. THC is recreational.Project CBD receives many inquiries fromaround the world and oftentimes peoplesay they are seeking CBD, the medicalpart of the plant, not THC, the recreationalpart that gets you high. Actually, THC, TheHigh Causer, has awesome therapeuticproperties. Scientists at the ScrippsResearch Center in San Diego reported thatTHC inhibits an enzyme implicated in theformation of beta-amyloid plaque, the hallmarkof Alzheimers-related dementia. The federalgovernment recognizes single-molecule THCas an anti-nausea compound and appetitebooster, deeming it a Schedule III drug, a classreserved for medicinal substances with littleabuse potential. But whole plant marijuana,

the only natural source of THC,continues tobe classified as a dangerous Schedule I drugwith no medical value.

    2. THC is the bad cannabinoid. CBD is the goodcannabinoid. The drug warriors strategicretreat: Give ground on CBD while continuing

to demonize THC. Diehard marijuanaprohibitionists are exploiting the good newsabout CBD to further stigmatize high-THCcannabis, casting tetrahydrocannabinol as

the bad cannabinoid, whereas CBD is framedas the good cannabinoid. Why? Because CBDdoesnt make you high like THC does. ProjectCBD categoricVally rejects this moralistic, reefer madness dichotomy in favor of wholeplant cannabis therapeutics.

    3. CBD is most effective without THC. THCand CBD are the power couple of cannabiscompoundsthey work best together.Scientific studies have established that CBDand THC interact synergistically to enhanceeach others therapeutic effects. Britishresearchers have shown that CBD potentiatesTHCs anti-inflammatory properties in ananimal model of colitis. Scientists at theCalifornia Pacific Medical Center in SanFrancisco determined that a combination ofCBD and THC has a more potent anti-tumoraleffect than either compound alone when

tested on brain cancer and breast cancercell lines. And extensive clinical research hasdemonstrated that CBD combined with THCis more beneficial for neuropathic pain thaneither compound as a single molecule.

    4. Single-molecule pharmaceuticals aresuperior to crude whole plant medicinals.According to the federal government, specificcomponents of the marijuana plant (THC,CBD) have medical value, but the plant itselfdoes not have medical value. Uncle Samssingle-molecule blinders reflect a culturaland political bias that privileges Big Pharmaproducts. Single-molecule medicine is thepredominant corporate way, the FDA-approved way, but its not the only way, and itsnot necessarily the optimal way to benefit fromcannabis therapeutics. Cannabis containsseveral hundred compounds, including variousflavonoids, aromatic terpenes, and many

minor cannabinoids in addition to THC andCBD. Each of these compounds has specifichealing attributes, but when combined theycreate what scientists refer to as a holisticentourage effect, so that the therapeuticimpact of the whole plant is greater than thesum of its single-molecule parts. The Foodand Drug Administration, however, isnt in thebusiness of approving plants as medicine. (See

    the scientific evidence at ProjectCBD.org)

    5. Psychoactivity is inherently an adverseside effect. According to politically correctdrug war catechism, the marijuana high isan unwanted side effect. Big Pharma is keenon synthesizing medically active marijuana-like molecules that dont make people highalthough its not obvious why mild euphoricfeelings are intrinsically negative for a sickperson or a healthy person, for that matter. In ancient Greece, the word euphoria meanthaving health, a state of well-being. Theeuphoric qualities of cannabis, far from beingan unwholesome side effect, are deeplyimplicated in the therapeutic value of theplant. We should be thinking of cannabisas a medicine first, said Dr. Tod Mikuriya, that happens to have some psychoactiveproperties, as many medicines do, rather

than as an intoxicant that happens to have afew therapeutic properties on the side.

    6. CBD is legal in all 50 states. Purveyors ofimported, CBD-infused hemp oil claim its legal

to market their wares anywhere in the UnitedStates as long as the oil contains less than0.3 percent THC. Actually, its not so simple.Federal law prohibits U.S. farmers fromgrowing hemp as a commercial crop, but thesale of imported, low-THC, industrial hempproducts is permitted in the United States aslong as these products are derived from theseed or stalk of the plant, not from the leavesand flowers. Heres the catch: Cannabidiolcant be pressed or extracted from hempseed. CBD can be extracted from the flower,

leaves, and, only to a very minor the stalk of the hemp plant. Hemplack credibility when they say theirfrom hemp seed and stalk. Cosoon vote to exempt industrial hefrom the definition of marijuanControlled Substances Act. Sucwould not be necessary if Cfrom foreign-grown hemp was

    throughout the United States.

    7. CBD-only laws adequatelypatient population. Seventeenlegislatures have passed CBD oaccurately, low THC) laws, and are poised to follow suit. Some st

into which you load your sauce product. Whenyou release the gate, the condiment slowly (orquickly) travels down the slightly angled troughand the distance that the trough travels in 30seconds is your final reading. The thicker thecondiment, the less distance it will travel.

Brookfield: A Brookfield unit is used tomeasure the viscosity of fluids. It consists ofa metal spindle that pushes its way througha liquid or syrupmeasuring the force orinternal friction of that fluid. It is used toensure that the mouthfeel and texture of foodproducts like yogurt or syrups are the samefrom batch to batch.

Salt Analyzers:A salt analyzer is just thatyou take a drop of your solution mixture, placeit on the readable unit, press a button and inless than a minute you will know the percentsalt of your solution. Typical salt solutions willread between 0 and 5% or 0 and 10%.
