Lifelong Learning….What we heard you say about Learning at the Library

• Build strong relationships and partnerships with local schools – 3D printing

• Build strong relationships and partnerships with other learning providers – such as U3A

• Provide support to HSC students

• Improve Internet speeds and Wi-Fi connectivity

• Provide study areas

• Continue delivery of the BaRK program

• Provide Homework Help program

• Improve Reference collection

What we are achieving • Good relationships

with U3A – meeting rooms used at Charlestown, Belmont and Toronto for U3A courses

• HSC Skills Development Program held at Charlestown Library

• Upgrades to network and Wi-Fi access across all branches by March 2016

• BaRK Program delivered across 4 library sites with therapy dogs and volunteers from the Delta Society

Collections….What we heard you say about collections at the library?

• Increase DVD and CD collections

• Improve audio book collection

• Improve browsing of the collection (remove bottom shelves)

• Improve access to series (ensure all books in a series are available)

• Increase car magazines• Provide open

reservation shelves (like at Cardiff)

• Improve access to e-books

• Improve catalogue by introducing a “did you mean” function to searching

What we are achieving

• Over 4000 new DVDs and CDs purchased in 2014-2015, with 30,000 available in our collection

• Processes in place to capture Series and Audio books

• New car magazine – “Octane” added to Zinio e-mag platform

• Improved customer access and experience with the library’s e-products, particularly e-mags via easier login and access to products

 What we are planning in 15/16• Continued provision of new

DVDs and CDs• Open reservation shelf

project across library branches

• Improved browsing opportunities across library branches – with changes to shelving and displays

• Continue to improve access to e-resources making it easier to find items and resources

• Planning for a new Catalogue and Library Management System is underway, which will include search improvements to make it easier for our customers
