From the experience of more than 15 years in development and implementation of PDM systems, the measuring stick at that is the simplicity of application in the area of product development. There, where the most complex data structures are created and the foundations for an economical product life cycle are laid, ISAP is at home, with solutions „engineered for engineers“.

Edge PLM COMPACT meets the engineer where he is at home. The CAD system and the creation of designs are in the center of attention during day-to-day work. In the background, EdgePLM COMPACT automatically takes over the annoying routine work. File relevant commands from Solid Edge and AutoCAD are intercepted and immediately redirected into the PDM system. All CAD functions can be used as usual - EdgePLM COMPACT cares for everything else.

New designs or variants don‘t have to start on a „green field“. Use already existing models and drawings as a basis, by means of the „Structure copy“. EdgePLM COMPACT takes care that standard and purchased parts are reused instead of copied, and that existing drawings are filed anew automatically together with the 3D model.

Integration of all employees outsid the design departmentEdgePLM COMPACT Office offers direct access to all admi-nistered documents through the project structure and the extensive search mechanisms. Due to the hierarchical re-presentation the system allows the user to fall back upon his used working method. With the easy to handle search, the detecting and using of documents will be faster, more effective and easier for the user.

Thus, EdgePLM COMPACT Office is the „must-have“ for all users who have to file and administer organized a large number of Office documents like e.g. graphics file, pro-ject plans or spreadsheets. Create bill of materials, plot complete drawings sets and inform yourself of the designs progress on the basis of the integrated viewer for Solid Edge and AutoCAD. Through the EdgePLM COMPACT Of-fice integration, you are able to manage Microsoft Office documents directly out of the author applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Opening and saving of project documents is supported in the same way like for example the defined release process. Email attachments can be transferred to EdgePLM COMPACT together with the original email as a .msg file or as independent docu-ments.

What would it be like if after the release of a drawing CAD neutral copies suitable for archiving were created? Automatic and without any strain of the CAD computers or respectively the users? The EdgePLM Formatsever carries out this and additional tasks reliable and fast. For the generation of CAD neutral drawings, the target formats TIFF and PDF are available as well as particular for Solid Edge drawings the formats DXF and DWG. Solid Edge 3D models can be transferred into the JT format and serve as communication basis with suppliers and customers. The process security will increase to a maximum by carrying out the generation of neutral formats automatically dependent on the document status. Thus, it will be ensured that every user is provided „just-in-time“ with the right information. Nobody has to run after a current drawing - from now on, it is „free delivery“ by the EdgePLM Formatserver! An extensive plotmanagement allows to output single documents or also in the context of whole projects, assemblies or product structures quick and comfortable. In addition, the documents can be marked with any information with a stamp.

An error tolerant text search helps you to find information again even if a gremlin has crept in and spelling mistakes prevent the detection with usual search methods. All these functions are at your disposal within a WebApplication, so they can be employed in the whole company without additional installation.
