General Distance Learning

What is the best way to get a hold of my teacher?

Edgenuity email, under the “communication” tab is best

I’m having technical issues with Edgenuity. Who do I contact?

Call Edgenuity for technical support.

Page 3: Edgenuity Student Guide - washoeschools.net

How often do I need to log in?

You are required to log in and make progress on your courses every day we have school (M-F).

This can be at any time and does not need to align with the school’s bell schedule.

If there’s no school, do I have to log in?

Attendance will be taken on days we would normally have school. You are not required to log in

if school is cancelled (holiday, snow day, etc). If schools have a digital/distance learning day, we

will continue working as usual. The WCSD calendar can be found here:

https://www.washoeschools.net/site/handlers/filedownload.ashx?moduleinstanceid=28443&d

ataid=31871&FileName=Balanced%20Calendar%2020-21.pdf

How much work do I need to do?

As a distance learning student, you are scheduled in at least 5 or more Edgenuity courses

depending on your need. Each of these courses will take approximately 50 hours to complete.

To do this, you'll need to plan on completing at least 9-10% of progress in each class per week.

This will require you to work during each school day around the same amount of time as if you

were physically attending school.

When are assignments due?

Edgenuity sets you up with a schedule to help you finish your classes by the end of the

semester, which includes dates for when assignments should be completed. The due dates are

really irrelevant since they don't affect your grade or completed assignments in any way.

I suggest focusing on your Edgenuity coursework since it all needs to be completed, including

the final, by the week of December 14-18. Edgenuity courses must be completed entirely to

earn credit. There is no partial credit. You must earn at least 60% in the course AND on the final

to receive credit.

Can I work ahead of the schedule?

YES! You can even finish courses early. This is recommend!

Is the Edgenuity website not working?

Check the status here: https://status.edgenuity.com/

If the site is running, and you’re having technical issues, contact tech support.

I don’t have any grades on Infinite Campus.

Grades will be on Edgenuity. Only final grades will be posted to Infinite Campus.

My schedule looks wrong.

Check your schedule on Infinite Campus and see if it matches. For schedule-related questions,

contact your counselor.

My class isn’t showing up.

If your course was recently added, it can take several days to load in. If it has been more than a

few days, email your teacher or counselor.

Specific Course Questions

My science lab report doesn’t tell me what to do.

The lab reports can be generic; they often don’t explain the specific experiment, but do explain

the requirements for the report. The lessons/assignments/warm ups in the same unit should

explain your experiment (they’re usually right before the lab).

Page 5: Edgenuity Student Guide - washoeschools.net

Use the format that works best for you (word docs, powerpoints, etc are fine). Make sure you

review the student guide and have all required info, and be careful to upload the correct file.

I don’t have the right materials for my lab/experiment!

Some labs use materials you may not readily have at home (and that’s understandable). Do your

best, but if you need to substitute or make changes to your experiment, that’s okay as long as it

has a similar outcome/main idea. If you’re unsure of a change you need to make, ask your

teacher. Write any changes you’ve made in your lab report.

How do I turn in a model/poster for a project?

Attach a picture of what you make. In some cases, you might be able to create the model

digitally (I recommend Microsoft Paint), or draw it by hand and take a picture.

I am supposed to create a presentation for a course. What do I do?

In most cases, I recommend creating a Powerpoint/Google Slides

My assignment is a group project. What do I do?

Treat the assignment as a solo/individual project and plan on completing it yourself.

What do I do for the fitness log for my PE class?

I recommend filling it out for the prior week, detailing all physical activity. One video mentions

printing it, but use the digital one. The log will be different for every student, as everyone has

different capabilities. Emphasis is on accurately logging/awareness of physical activity.

My Spanish essay or voice recording isn’t staying attached.

Make sure you save the work AND hit done. If you click done, it will submit with no saved work.

Math Tutoring

NVHS math teachers will be hosting virtual math tutoring throughout each week. Students can ask

questions about lessons and math students may drop in and attend. Each teacher will be involved with a

different day, so there’s a chance you will NOT have your math teacher for virtual tutoring; that’s okay

because they’re all friendly and want to help you!

You can either download the Zoom app to your phone or computer (it’s free!), or you can use Zoom

through a web browser if you don’t want to download anything. Students can sign on, and log off, at any

time during tutoring times can attend as often as they like! Teachers will be tracking which students

attend, and when, if you need to verify anything.
