• Strynchuk, Royal and England, 1999 Reported “the majority of organic-basedpollutants, which leach from grass clippings and leaves into water will bereleased within 1 to 22 days…BOD peaked at 9 days…most of the phosphoruswas released in the first day…”
• Marino and Gannon, 1991 Tested storm drain sediments during dry weatherperiods and found “Extended bacterial survival in sediments to survival inwater…FC and FS in sediments remained stable for up to 6 days (the maximuminter-storm dry period).”
• GPI Southeast, in the Final Report – Baffle Box Effectiveness Monitoring Project,2010 reports “net exports of fecal coliforms and anaerobic conditions…” andsuggest “probable causes for FC growth in baffle boxes are the intereventanaerobic conditions…” and point out “…use of any water storing box can leadto increased FC counts to water bodies”.

Chemistry of Vault-OxTM in Water
At natural pH – very slow decomposition generating oxygen and lime
2 CaO2 + 2 H2O 2 Ca(OH)2 + O2
Rate of oxygen generation depends upon
Product characteristics - particle size, formulation, etc.
Environmental conditions - water quality, pH, agitation, concentration, etc.
Vault-OxTM
A source of Alkalinity
Increases the formation of calcite and apatite
This increases the P-binding capacity of calcium
Reduces free H2S concentrations
Formulation buffers and regulates pH
Counters acid rain
Prevents acidification of water when sulfides are oxidized
Maintains heavy metals in an immobilized oxidized state
Chemistry of Vault-Ox™ in Acid
In buffered systems at lower pH, CaO2 dissolves faster and produces progressively increasing amounts of H2O2
CaO2 + 2H+ Ca2+ (aq) + 2H2O2
Ca(OH)2 + 2H+ Ca2+ (aq) + 2H2O
