The Secret to Window Care Ecoline  Windows  12/13/2013    While Ecoline’s windows use Simply-Clean glass, which harnesses the sun’s power to keep windows cleaner for longer, eventually it will be time to do a little upkeep yourself. So how best to go about it? Just follow these basic guidelines to keep your windows looking crystal clear and factory fresh.

• Remove as much dust as you can off the frame and sash with a vacuum. Carefully wipe dust off the glass to avoid scratches.

• Use a cleaning solution (or make your own out of soap and water) to clean the glass and the frames. Avoid rough cleaning utensils and harmful chemicals. At Ecoline, all of our coatings are specially designed to survive the elements and shouldn’t wear off, even during a vigorous cleaning. Once the window is good and washed, rinse it it with water and dry it with a soft fabric cloth.

• Squeegees can be a great way to save time and energy–just make sure there are no metal edges that might leave scratches.

• Our hardware is solid and built to last, but it doesn’t hurt to lubricate the rollers and tracks once a year or so.

• If you have windows installed in a room with high levels of humidity–such as a bathroom, kitchen, or a pool room–make sure to use an exhaust fan to prevent the build up of condensation.

• As far as the screen, ours only need to be maintained with a mild mixture of soap and water, and a soft brush. Make sure to rinse and dry afterwards.

• Always clean windows on a cloudy day. If it’s too sunny, the cleaning solution will dry out before you’re done wiping it and leave streak marks.

• Always wash one side of the glass with vertical strokes and the other with horizontal. That way you always know where the streaks are. And no matter which side you’re working, always wash from the top down so you don’t get any drips.

• Try polishing your window with a crumbled piece of newspaper and you’ll find it leaves a dirt-resistant film!
