It is finally springtime and the change in weather offers a great opportunity to

update your home décor. You may not have enough cash on hand to

completely re-do your home or apartment, but a few slight updates or

upgrades can make a big difference in the mood of your space.

First, fill a vase with flowers. This will add color, cheer, and pleasant smells to your home. It also reflects the flowers popping up and growing outside in the ground.

Find a small colorful vase and fill it with a fresh pop of colorful flowers that compliment. You can place it in your bathroom, guest room or entry way to convey

the feel of an open, clean, and crisp home.

Spring is also a great time to change the throw pillows on your couch or bed.

Put away the dark colors of winter and replace them with floral themed pillows

or tones of aqua and orange. It will make your space feel brighter and more

appropriate for the weather outside your window.

While you are working on updating your pillows, acquire new linens and

bedding too. Bright white or pastel sheets are preferable to brighten your

space and for providing a clean, fresh feeling. A high thread count and

Egyptian or Supima cotton is always preferable.

Bringing a new light fixture into your home will certainly brighten it up for the

spring/summer. Try a new floor lamp, or a different fixture for an overhead

lamp. It may also make sense to invest in LED light bulbs, which last longer

and save energy.

Blue is in this spring! Find accessories in blue, indigo, cobalt, or a range of

blue-gray colors to trick your brain into thinking “cool” while things heat up

outside. You can incorporate these blue hues into your dinnerware, napkins,

patio furniture, or door mats.

For a fresh feel this spring try rearranging your furniture. It will transform your

space and keep you from having to redecorate. Change the seating

arrangement and where knickknacks, frames and vases have their home. Try

moving books around and arranging by color or size.

With these tips your home will feel extra fresh and ready for spring.
