Vietnam is among developing countries worst affected by climate change which

directly results from the globally highest increase in CO2 emission varying from 17-20% every year (World Bank report in 2009).

Peoples health is critically threatened by toxic emissions of burning coal.

CAPTION 2

Most people in Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular are consuming

honeycomb coal. The product is environmentally and thermally of very low qualitybecause producers often use obsolete technology to produce handmade coal by

mixing pure powdered coal with a remarkable amount of clay or mud (which is under

no toxic disposal process to get rid of sulphur (S), nitrogen (N) compounds, etc to

save coal). Therefore, honeycomb emits toxic gases such as CO, NO, SO2 and dirty

smoke in the combustion. These homemade coal is of low quality and discharges a lot

of toxic emissions which is very harmful to the human health and causing severe air

pollution.

People who inhale toxic gases from coal for a long time often contract a number of

dangerous diseases such as asthma, pneumonia, and cancer. Some studies havelinked exposure to indoor coal smoke to asthma; cataracts; tuberculosis; adverse

pregnancy outcomes, in particular low birth weight; heart disease; interstitial lung

disease and cancer. Every year, Bach Mai hospital (the biggest public hospital in

Hanoi) has around 20 serious cases of carbon poisoning in which some died and

many had to live unconsciously for the rest of lives.

Vietnam is a tropical country which produce huge biomass source including rice

straw, husk, coconut fiber, baggase of over 60 million tons per year. Farmers oftenburn rice straw at their paddy fields right after the crops aggravating the pollution

and wastefulness of natural resources.

Applying the cutting-edge technology, we produce high quality EcoCarbon which is

made from coal and available agricultural biomass such as rice straw, husk, and

coconut fiber. Under the circumstance of increasing demand for fossil energy in

Vietnam, our product is an outstanding energy substitute for traditional coal because

of its environmentally friendly life-cycle. With majority of ingredients from natural

plants enhanced by special herbal formula, EcoCarbon reduces more than 90% of

dirty smoke, dust and toxic gases in the process of combustion and finally remained

ash becomes useful fertilizer to the soil.

Biomass materials collected go through 4 main steps to become the final products:

Crusher, Carbonizer, Mixer and Compressor. The quality of our product is recognized

by Vietnam Chamber of Testing and measurement and offered patent by Vietnam

Chamber of Intellectual Properties.

We develop different types of Eco-carbon to meet the diverse demand of the

With Hanoi as the main market ofEcoCarbon on its the occasion of 1000 year-old

anniversary, we organize many environmental campaigns.

The venture helps raise environment awareness among community as people are

persuaded to change their habit of using energy by regularly environmental

education. People are better aware of current environment issues and actively

protect environment beyond the activity of using EcoCarbon. By approaching people

from small residential area with environment lessons run by experts and volunteers,

by cooperating with the local authorities, we aim to change people awareness in not

only coal using aspect but also waste management. Part of our profit (about 10%)

will be reinvested into public infrastructures and facilities which serve the benefit

of people. Our effort is to raise peoples general awareness on environment issues

and create a specially spreading effect among our community.

We target to create a new model of distribution by hiring jobless or low-income

people who are happy to take the job of cycling around residential area to deliver the

products. They are also the effective marketing channels who introduce our products

to their neighbors The project produces jobs for local residents, supporting their

family and in general improves their standard of living.

In the current situation of Vietnam, energy prices are increasing. It is costly for people

with low income to use another sources of energy, knowing that they are friendlier to

their health and environment. By using EcoCarbon, people help save electricity

especially during cooking hours, which help save millions of dollars for the country.

We bring their children better health and brighter future!

If all the present coal amount used for energy are replaced by EcoCarbon, both

natural environment and economic state of Vietnam greatly benefit from our venture,

mitigating the global warming. CO2 and other toxic gases are reduced by around 90%,

bringing much cleaner and healthier environment for the country. Hence, it helps cut

millions of dollars of social costs for medical care and environment cleaning. The

gases emitted from one unit when burning are kept much lower than the standard of

Vietnam, promising a great solution to the in-danger heath of people who interact

with them. As the result, it helps reduce the medical burden of each family as well as

the whole society.
