DAY 1 CUSCO, SACRED VALLEY, CHINCHEROS, CASA DE BARRO LODGE9:00 - 9:30 am: pick-up in your hotel lobby by an Eco Quechua Adventures representativetransportation service. On the way to your excursion, you will see some of the most scenic spots in the Sacred Valley. Visit the traditional Andean village of Chinchero located in the highlands of Anta. The visit combines Inca archeological sites, typical Andean community, a colonial church, and a colorful market which to date, on its “market day” practice the tradition of “barter” goods. Overnight at the Hotel Casa de Barro in a Colonial-style room.

DAY 2 CHINCHERO, ABRA MALAGA, SANTA TERESA, ECO QUECHUA LODGEDepart the hotel early to head to the amazing Sacred Valley with stops in various and lookout points along the waycrossing over the 4,316m high Malaga Pass at the base of massive glaciers. The landscape is quite impressive with amazing views of the snow-capped mountains. Following the tour of the Malaga Pass, go to the Guaman Marka Inca Ruins which have recently been restored. Arrive in Santa Maria in time for lunch. After, prepare for an afternoon hike along the Inca Jungle Trail, reaching Eco Quechua lodge at the end of the day. DAY 3 ECO QUECHUA LODGE (1, 530 M / 5,007 FT)

Depending on traveler preference, today is spent leisurely spending time around the lodge resting, or participating in activities provided locally. The most popular activity at Eco Quechua is a nearby half-day canopy zipline tour. In the afternoon, guests may choose the bird watching tour, visit to the hot springs, enjoy a massage, or Andean sauna. In the evening, the tour leader will brief the trekking party on gear and the itinerary for the next two days.

DAY 4 ECO QUECHUA LODGE, LLACTAPATA INCA TRAIL, ECO QUECHUA LODGE

After an early start and a hearty breakfast, travel to the beginning of the Llactapata Inca Trail. Walk about 20 minutes to the coffee plantation where local experts will teach the group about sustainable growing practices and coffee's vital role in Santa Teresa´s social and economic evolution. It is said that Santa Teresa produces the best organic coffee of the world. After tasting the result of the plant to cup process, head uphill on a 2-3 hour hike towards the Llactapata Pass (2,700m/8,900ft), where there is a distant but quite special view of Machu Picchu from the southwest which few tourists ever glimpse. An added value is the Llactapata Ruins, which have recently been restored, a place that had great sacred significance for the Incas.

Lunch is provided nearby, in view of Machu Picchu. After lunch, begin the final descent to the Aobamba River through lush bamboo forests and more orchids and coffee plantations, another 2-3 hour hike. Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu are a short (30 minutes), scenic train ride away. (Total hiking time: 4-6 hours. Hiking level: moderate to challenging). DAY 5 MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

Today is spent exploring the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu with the tour leader. In the afternoon, return to Aguas Calientes to board the train for the journey back to Ollantaytambo. Get off the train in Ollantaytambo and you will be transfered to your choosing hotel at Ollantaytambo or Urubamba. Breakfast in your hotel; recommended to purchase a box lunch before heading to Machu Picchu.

FAQ HOW DO I GET THERE?

Fly into Cuzco, Peru (CUZ). You will need to arrive one day prior to the itinerary. An Eco Quechua Adventures representative will provide transfer from your hotel to the first activity on Day 1.

WHAT ARE THE ACCOMMODATIONS LIKE?

Accommodations are in two different lodges as described below.Casa De Barro LodgeLocated in the heart of the Sacred Valley winner of Trip Advisor Traveller's Choice 2014, 2015, and 2016.

Eco Quechua LodgeSituated in Santa Teresa, Peru, not far from Machu Picchu. Winner of Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence 2014, 2015, and 2016. Located in the high jungle, it offers a lovely and tranquil getaway. Like a jungle lodge in the Amazon, some windows are open to nature so that you feel like you're part of it all (beds have mosquito netting).

I'M A SOLO TRAVELER. IS THERE A SINGLE SUPPLEMENT?

Solo travelers will need to pay the single supplement fee of $90 in order to acquire single room accommodations.

IS TRAVEL INSURANCE REQUIRED?

Travel insurance is not required but is highly recommended. Eco Quechua Lodge recommends travel insurance that covers accidents, medical expenses and emergency repatriation, including rescue and air ambulance. It is also recommend that it covers cancellations and loss of luggage. For recommendations on where to acquire trip insurance, please contact the travel support team.

WHAT MEALS ARE INCLUDED? AND WHAT IF I'M A VEGETARIAN?

All meals are included with the exception of breakfast on day 1 and lunch in Aguas Calientes. Typical meals will include chicken, quinoa, vegetables, fish, and spaghetti. Vegetarian options are available upon request, please let the operator know in advance of arrival.

HOW MUCH EXTRA MONEY SHOULD I BRING?Travelers should budget an additional $150 per person, but this can vary drastically based on your spending preferences.

CAN I CANCEL THE TRIP?You may cancel reservations up to 72 hours after the booking is made. After that time period all modifications/cancellations will be granted solely at the discretion of Eco Quechua Lodge. Cancellation processing fees may apply.

WHAT DO I NEED TO PACK?
