Water Supplies Department

WSD commissioned Hong Kong’s first

ever photovoltaic (PV) pilot system at

harvest about 120,000 units of electricity

PV system can improve water quality by

suppressing algae growth, reduce the

use of precious land resources and

reducing CO2 emission. There are

currently 17 nos. of reservoirs in Hong

Kong, WSD is examining the feasibility

of implementing large-scale floating

solar farms in the future.
