ECHO PainPain management is a significant issue in healthcare
today with upwards of 70% of emergency room visits
related to pain concerns. In addition, community
clinicians oftentimes require support with pain
management adherence to guidelines, and patient
counseling.
ECHO Pain facilitates a multifaceted approach to
chronic pain by incorporating a team of specialists that
support primary care clinicians in rural communities in
the management of chronic pain and opioids.
The ECHO Pain program includes brief lectures and presentations by specialists on specific topics of
interest and in-depth case-based presentations by
community clinicians for feedback and
recommendations. Clinicians are given access to
evidence-based educational resources and are
encouraged to express any suggestions or comments
that they have regarding the ECHO Pain session. An
environment of group learning and best practice
protocols is established to reduce variation in care and
improve outcomes for patients experiencing chronic
pain.
