Dear Friends,
After more than three years of preparation the actual work on our sanctuary organ began in May. A crew from the organ builder Schlueter disassembled the parts of the organ that are in the gallery. Some of the pipes were shipped to Klais Organ Builders in Germany who is revoicing
them (modifying the sound they make), others are in storage while Schlueter is releathering the wind chests (wooden crates under the pipes, that have small holes that are sealed by small leather patches - these are being replaced). The console in the gallery was hoisted down as well and is currently being rewired with state of the art technology and according to fire code. At the same time, new pipes are being made, safe access to the elevated organ chambers in the gallery has been designed and will be installed during the summer, a platform for a new division in the empty chamber on the right side of the gallery is under construction, and we are working on the layout of the main console. Work on the gallery organ will be finished by the end of September, when we will take a break in the onsite work until January 2017, when the main organ will be taken out.
We want to thank the 156 households that have made either a pledge or a contribution to the Organ Renewal Campaign thus far totaling $1,050,000! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
The total campaign goal is $1.6 million, which includes a $380,000 reserve fund. This leaves us about $550,000 short of our goal. We want to strongly encourage the over 900 member households that have not yet made a pledge or contribution to participate in this campaign.
Checks can be made payable to the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta, Attention: Organ Renewal Campaign.
Please prayerfully consider a gift for this campaign and thank you in advance for your generosity.
Blessings,
Tony Sundermeier Jens Korndoerfer Senior Pastor Director for Worship, the Arts, and Organist

Samaritan Counseling Center News and Job Opportunity.
SAMARITAN COUNSELING CENTER OF ATLANTA
A s Rev. Kevin Knab announced in an earlier Chimes edition, Rev. Katie Sundermeier has
been named the Executive Director of the Samari-tan Counseling Center of Atlanta (20 hours per week). The center’s mission is to deliver traditional and spiritually integrated counseling to the diverse Midtown community, regardless of one’s ability to pay. Samaritan Counseling Center of Atlanta serves people of every age, gender, race, sexual orientation and ethnic background, and offers help to individu-als, couples, families and groups. In addition to her role as Executive Director of SCCA, Katie will continue to work 15 hours per week with the Pastoral Care Team here at FPC. Hav-ing Katie in these two positions allows us to deepen and expand the mutual ministry shared between the center and the church and bridge the disciplines and practices of theology, counseling, pastoral care, and psychology. If you have had a connection to the SCCA in the past and would like to get back in-volved, or if you would like to share your story, offer an idea, or learn more about the center, Katie would love to hear from you! Email at [email protected] or call at 404-228-7721. Finally, The Samaritan Counseling Center of Atlanta is looking to fill a part-time counseling posi-tion with the opportunity to become full-time. This counselor will be responsible for providing high quality and ethical counseling services to individu-als, couples, children/adolescents, families, and groups. Develop and implement treatment plans. Evaluate client progress. Maintain appropriate electronic records and client statistics per HIPPA standards and attend staff meetings. The minimum requirements are a Master’s or doctoral degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related mental health field. Licensed in discipline by appropriate state board with a consideration of associate licenses.
For more information please contact Rev. Katie Sundermeier at 404-228-7721 or

YOUTH
Whether it’s a small group, a Bible study, a social event, or a service opportunity, here are some ways you can connect with our community.
SUMMER SMALL GROUP Beginning in June, we’ll meet every other Monday evening at 7 p.m. to wrestle with the Old Testament.
We’ll use This Strange and Sacred Scripture: Wrestling with the Old Testament and Its Oddities as our guide. Whether you can commit to each week or not, we’d love for you to join us!
Q2 SUMMER HIATUS Q2 will go on a brief hiatus before resuming again in Sep-tember. We’ll still head to brunch after 10:45 a.m. worship service, though, so meet us in Fifield at 12:15 p.m., and let’s break bread together.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Did you know FPC has a women’s shelter? Or that FPC makes breakfast for hundreds of homeless guests every Sunday? Or that we recently settled two refugee families in Atlanta? Or that we’re planning events with Hillside Pres-byterian Church re: racial reconciliation? Well, all of that is true, and we could use your help. Within our 20s/30s community, we have a team of folks dedicated to serving God and neighbor who’d love to hear from you. Email Ann-Henley and she’ll connect you.
COUPLES’ GROUP On the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 7 p.m., we gather at folks’ homes, we play TopGolf, we visit breweries, and we cheer for the Braves. If you’re engaged or married, email Ann-Henley to learn where we’re headed next!
