Geospatial Literacy requires 3 kinds of understanding:

Interactions - Understands that the world is composed of interacting systems

    that move and transform resources

Interconnections - Understands that these systems connect people and places

to each other. This means that events that happen in one location affect other

    people and places.

Implications - able to use understanding of interactions and interconnections tomake well-reasoned decisions.

    decisions.html

Geospatial Literacy enables 6 categories of critical decisions that Geospatial prepares

    people to make:

Community life - Understands the factors that improve or degrade the quality of

    life

Location and transportation - able to reason through problems involving siteselection and transportation planning

Interactions across cultures - able to communicate and collaborate effectively

    with individuals from different cultures.

Environmental and social impacts - able to anticipate the potentialenvironmental and social impacts of our actions and make decisions accordingly.

Global affairs - able to participate in the public debate about trade, diplomacy,

    military action, and foreign aid.

Acts of caring - able to alleviate poverty, reduce hunger, or improve health careand education

Spatial and Location is very important.

Everything presented had some form of mapping

    component involved.

If you can leverage spatial data, take advantage of it!

Where you come from isnot as important as
