FROM OUR PASTOR

Let us enjoy this, the last full week before Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday is a bit later this year than usual (as is Easter). As you enjoy the week, now would be a good time to think about what you are going to “give up” for Lent. In a quandary as what that might be this year? Why, I have some suggestions for you:

Choose one thing to do this Lent to help you Pray Come to a daily Mass each week Go to confession Read the Bible or a book on Spirituality Attend our Lenten Taizé Prayer Service

Choose one thing to do this Lent to Fast Your doctor asked you to ________.

Do that for your health! Choose a meal that will be simple each week Remember, no meat on Fridays

Choose one thing to do this Lent to Give Alms Help with the parish Lenten Almsgiving

Program Stock shelves in our Food Pantry Support your favorite charity

You have plenty of time to decide what you would like to do for Lent this year! Whatever you do, may God give you grace and peace to fulfill your desire.

Dear Parish Family & Friends,

Peace and all good, Fr. Steve Giannini

It’s almost LENT!! Ash Wednesday is March 6th!

REST IN PEACE

INTEREST MEETING - SUNDAY, MARCH 3 10 AM in the Courtesy Room

See if your vision is 2020 for the March for Life!

Interested in being a witness for the sanctity of human life? How about joining 600,000 of your closest like-minded friends?

The 46th annual March for Life was just held on January 18, the Friday before the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision. Our parish was represented at the March, but we could use a greater presence next year. While there is one common goal of joining in the rally and march on Friday, January 24, there are a number of options for travel

and lodging. Come find out what our experience has been and what you might want to consider. Now is the time to start planning. We can all make the pilgrimage for life!

JOIN IN A PRAYER OF CONSECRATION AFTER MASS ON MARCH 2 AND 3

ROSARY AFTER MORNING MASS ON MARCH 2

In sending His Son to earth as a baby, born into a family, God elevated the family beyond a mere natural institution. Our own family life reflects that lived by Christ, in obedience to His mother and foster father. Both as children and as parents, we can take comfort in the fact that we have the perfect model of the family before us in the Holy Family. By the act of consecration, you accept the truth that salvation history was changed forever by a family and that through your domestic church, you are called to exemplify their example.

FEBRUARY IS HOLY FAMILY MONTH - NOW IS THE TIME TO PREPARE FOR THE CONSECRATION

Prayer Cards and brochures will be provided by the Knights of Columbus of Saints Francis & Clare of Assisi.

The Bible Timeline classes are in pro-gress. The Timeline has been broken down into sets of classes. There are 24 classes in all with a DVD presentation by Jeff Cavins. All are welcome to attend any class. It is wonderful to have others continue on this journey with us to see how the people of God were formed and how the Old Testament points to Christ and the Church in the New Testa-ment. The schedule will be posted on the bulletin board in the Narthex extension. There is no class the first Saturday of the month so it does not compete with another meet-ing. To be determined by the group is whether to go through the summer or break until fall.

Every summer, adults and high school students from our parish spend a week in the Appalachian region of Kentucky. These parishioners help to improve the living conditions and quality of life for the less fortunate by repairing homes, constructing wheel chair ramps, re-roofing and restoring hope and love to the homebound. This year's trip will take place June 9 through June 15. Sign-ups will be held in the Narthex on this weekend, March 2/3 and April 6/7. For any questions or more information, please contact Joe Bowling, [email protected] or Miranda Kor-reck,[email protected].
