iEARN (Red Internacional de Educación y Recursos – www.iearn.org) es una organización sin fines de lucro compuesta por más de 30.000 escuelas y organizaciones juveniles en 140 países. iEARN ayuda a docentes y jóvenes a trabajar juntos online utilizando Internet y otras tecnologías de la comunicación. Más de 2 millones de estudiantes participan cada día en proyectos colaborativos a través de iEARN en todo el mundo. El lema de esta red es: “Aprendiendo con el mundo, no sólo acerca de él” (hacer clic aquí para ver el video institucional de iEARN). Esta gran red tiene redes asociadas en cada país. En Argentina, la red TELAR es el capítulo nacional de iEARN y está formada por docentes y estudiantes de todo el país, sostenida y coordinada por la Fundación Evolución (FE). Fundación Evolución (www.fundacionevolucion.org.ar) organizó en 2014 la XXI Conferencia Internacional de Docentes y XVIII Encuentro de Jóvenes de la Red iEARN en la ciudad de Puerto Madryn, provincia del Chubut, Argentina. Veinte años atrás, en 1994, el Primer Encuentro Internacional de Docentes de la red fue organizado también por el centro iEARN Argentina en la misma localidad. El lema de la Conferencia Internacional iEARN 2014 fue “Creatividad, innovación y aprendizaje global”. Asistieron 265 jóvenes y docentes de 22 países: Argentina, Australia, Brasil, Camerun, Canadá, Ecuador, Egipto, España, EE.UU., Holanda, Irán, Israel, Japón, Palestina, Perú, Puerto Rico, Qatar, República Dominicana, Rusia, Sudáfrica, Surinam y Taiwán. De Argentina estuvieron presentes delegaciones de: Buenos Aires, Ciudad de Buenos Aires, Chubut, Córdoba, Corrientes, Entre Ríos, Formosa, La Pampa, La Rioja, Mendoza, Misiones, Neuquén, Río Negro, San Juan, San Luis, Santa Fe, Santiago del Estero y Tucumán. Se realizaron 4 conferencias, 30 talleres, 3 paneles de análisis de casos, 1 festival de medios y 1 acto homenaje a los fundadores de la red. Se presentaron 17 proyectos de iEARN en 2 paneles y se expusieron 17 pósters .

1. Introducción

Este documento aborda las experiencias de implementación de proyectos de la red iEARN en instituciones educativas de diversas partes del mundo y que fueran presentadas durante la XXI Conferencia Anual de Docentes iEARN y XVIII Cumbre de los Jóvenes en Puerto Madryn, Chubut, Argentina, del 29 de junio al 5 de julio de 2014. Para ello, se hace una breve mención a: Qué es iEARN. Qué son los proyectos de la red global iEARN. Cuáles fueron los proyectos que se presentaron en los paneles de la conferencia anual 2014. La noche cultural. Para finalizar, se incluye una selección de fotografías de los distintos paneles realizados y un

apartado de bibliografía.

2. ¿Qué es iEARN?

iEARN www.iearn.org es una Red Internacional de Educación y Recursos (International Education and Resources Network), una organización sin fines de lucro con presencia en 140 países(1) que trabajan a través de una red global de telecomunicaciones, en proyectos educativos pensados para marcar una diferencia en el mundo. Hay tres niveles de representación en iEARN: coordinador, representante y contacto. Coordinador: Los países que tienen un coordinador son aquellos países o grupos que solicitaron su ingreso como miembros y fueron aceptados por la Asamblea Internacional de iEARN, por lo que tienen voto en la Asamblea. 3. Proyectos de la red global iEARN

Los educadores que son parte de iEARN proponen y participan en diversos proyectos con sus estudiantes. Cada proyecto propuesto por los docentes y estudiantes en iEARN tiene que responder a esta pregunta:

¿Cómo afectara este proyecto a la calidad de vida de nuestro planeta?

Esa visión y ese objetivo compartido es lo que da cohesión a los proyectos de la red iEARN. Participando en los proyectos de iEARN los alumnos desarrollan capacidades para intervenir en los asuntos de la comunidad, preparándose mejor para el ejercicio de una ciudadanía responsable. “Los proyectos colaborativos interinstitucionales que integran las TIC constituyen una estrategia didáctica llevada adelante por una organización (red escolar, portal educativo, organización no gubernamental u otra institución) que invita a docentes y alumnos a participar en una secuencia de actividades de aprendizaje en la que prevalece el trabajo conjunto para la consecución de un propósito pedagógico común durante un período de tiempo determinado. Pueden ser de alcance distrital, municipal, nacional o internacional, también varían según la duración (un mínimo de dos meses hasta un año), los destinatarios y el nivel de complejidad” (2)

Boletín de noticias: Cada dos semanas se envía un boletín de noticias por correo electrónico a todos los participantes de iEARN. Este boletín describe nuevos proyectos, brinda actualizaciones de otros y es un lugar para hacer anuncios generales. 4. Proyectos presentados en la conferencia

Para compartir los aspectos más importantes de implementaciones de proyectos de iEARN en diferentes instituciones educativas del mundo, se ofrecieron espacios en paneles plenarios, lo cual permitió a todos conocer algunos de los proyectos vigentes, aspectos relevantes, dificultades, actividades realizadas e identificar a colegas con intereses similares. La manera de dar espacio a todos, haciendo foco en la implementación y que pudiera compartirse en pocos minutos fue hacerlo en el formato “Pecha Kucha 20x20”. El nombre Pecha Kucha deriva de una palabra japonesa que imita los sonidos de una conversación: bla-bla-bla/chit chat/ cháchara. La idea básica en este formato es permitirle a la gente compartir ideas a través de presentaciones muy concisas y precisas que mantienen un alto nivel de atención e interés en la audiencia. Cada presentador puede usar 20 diapositivas o imágenes cada una de las cuales es mostrada durante 20 segundos. Cada presentación dura 6 minutos y 40 segundos en total después de la cual hay un tiempo para preguntas y respuestas. Dos profesores novatos en iEARN comparten su experiencia en la red, una guía en la que destacan la visión del aula, la construcción de redes de apoyo, la superación de los desafíos tecnológicos, sus expectativas, logros y la gestión del tiempo. Brindan consejos para navegar por la red iEARN con éxito y que los coordinadores y facilitadores de proyectos puedan obtener conocimientos sobre la mejor manera de apoyar a los nuevos miembros de la red.

2. Fotoperiodismo 2014: patrimonio, hambre y seguridad alimentaria. Empoderar a la nueva generación de líderes. Facilitadores: Nicole Weitzner, Chris Baer y Aqeela Jogee Cutter.

3. Competencias de comunicación intercultural en educación especial

La presentación “Fotoperiodismo 2014: Patrimonio, hambre y seguridad alimentaria – Empoderar una nueva generación de líderes” abordó los tres conceptos incluidos en la conferencia iEARN 2014: creatividad, innovación y aprendizaje global. Se ofreció un pantallazo del proyecto y se resaltaron la forma en que pudieron involucrar a docentes y jóvenes de Pakistán, Tayikistán, Estados Unidos, etc.

El propósito de esta presentación fue compartir la experiencia de un grupo de alumnos sordos en proyectos colaborativos internacionales. La idea del presentador fue alentar a otros docentes de educación especial a que participen del aprendizaje basado en proyectos de la Red iEARN. La información recolectada era parte de una investigación para obtener un Máster en Comunicación Intercultural. Facilitadora: Claudia Batista, Brasil.

4. Ositos de Peluche Facilitadora: Rose Gimenes, Brasil.

5. Barriletes parlantes alrededor del mundo

En este proyecto se hermanan clases que intercambian Ositos de Peluche por correo postal. El osito mantiene un diario personal ya sea por blog o correo electrónico y en él describe en primera persona las aventuras vividas, los lugares a los que ha ido, las cosas que ha hecho y visto en la ciudad, la escuela y los hogares de los niños. La implementación del proyecto Ositos de Peluche, estimuló la interacción, amistad y respeto a la diversidad y despertó el interés por las clases de inglés, la investigación y actividades interdisciplinarias. www.rosegimenes.blogspot.com

Los alumnos construyen y remontan barriletes a modo de gran homenaje dedicado a impulsar el diálogo cultural y social, como un puente que supera espacios vacíos y comprende al “otro”. Esperamos que los barriletes se vuelvan una tradición y que vuelen con nuestros deseos de un mundo mejor, de tolerancia, convivencia, aceptación del otro y paz. 6. Encontrar soluciones para el hambre Se donó el dinero obtenido a MAHAK, la institución de caridad más exitosa de Irán. Nada mejor que poder ofrecer ayuda a los pobres, juguetes y frutas frescas a los niños enfermos, y verlos sonreír después de tanto tiempo, sobre todo porque fue unos días antes de Año Nuevo. 7. La tecnología: un nexo entre diferentes propuestas pedagógicas

Cuando hablamos del mayor obstáculo solucionable que tiene el mundo, el primero a mencionar es el “Hambre”. Más de 800 millones de personas en el mundo saben bien lo que es irse a dormir con hambre, aún cuando se produce comida suficiente para todos. Por eso llamamos a nuestro equipo “Los guerreros del hambre” para comenzar a combatirlo. El mayor desafío que enfrentamos para publicitar y comenzar con el proyecto fue la organización de la “Feria de comidas”, la cual no hubiese sido posible sin la colaboración de toda la escuela.

Dos escuelas muy diferentes, el Instituto CREAR de Educación Especial http://www.institutocrear.edu.ar y el Instituto Tomás Devoto http://www.tomasdevoto.edu.ar, separadas apenas por 15 cuadras en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, Argentina, se vincularon durante muchos años solamente a través de los proyectos telecolaborativos de la Red TELAR-iEARN,

participando al mismo tiempo en diferentes iniciativas:

Telar va a la escuela, Tour por el Mundo, Intercambio de tarjetas y Celebraciones en la Red. Este vínculo generado a través de Internet y que fue creciendo en el tiempo, dio origen en el año 2012 a un proyecto de integración que se continúa desarrollando actualmente, con el propósito de Propiciar espacios de intercambio, por medio de diferentes técnicas de trabajo grupal, entre los alumnos, con la finalidad de entablar lazos y/o vínculos sociales. En la presentación se detalla todo el recorrido que, dentro del marco de los proyectos telecolaborativos, transitaron juntas estas dos instituciones educativas desde el año 2005. 8. Machinto Facilitadora: Yoko Takagi, Japón.

El proyecto Machinto es una iniciativa que propone conectar a niños del mundo tomando como punto de partida los libros Machinto y Sadako, relacionados con Hiroshima /Nagasaki. Machinto es un esfuerzo para dar a los estudiantes de todo el mundo una voz y una comprensión de la no violencia. Reúne a los alumnos a través del trabajo colaborativo para elaborar libros ilustrados sobre la paz y la amistad y enviarlos a niños que se encuentran en zonas afectadas por las guerras. http://us.iearn.org/professional_development/multimedia/imagine/machinto.html

10. Los símbolos de los antiguos pobladores Facilitadores: Abdelaziz Rhazzali, Christine Hockert y Christine Kolstoe, Estados Unidos.

Los desastres naturales ocurren en cualquier lugar y en cualquier momento en el mundo. Es importante que los alumnos sepan cómo hacer frente a los desastres para salvar sus vidas. La Cumbre de la Juventud de Desastres Naturales (NDYS) es un proyecto anual en el que los estudiantes colaboran y aprenden a salvar sus vidas y reducir los impactos de los desastres naturales utilizando las tecnologías de la información y de la comunicación. http://www.ndys.jearn.jp

Los participantes investigan los símbolos culturales y sus historias a través de Internet, los registros históricos locales, libros de la biblioteca, libros de arte y artefactos tales como alfombras, paredes, techos, pisos o dibujos y pictogramas en sus comunidades Al término de la investigación y documentación de la historia detrás del símbolo comparten sus obras de arte y los relatos con el resto de los participantes. https://sites.google.com/site/earlypeoplesymbols

12. Guía de supervivencia para el primer año en iEARN: cómo unirse a una comunidad global. .

¿Qué comparten las escuelas en este proyecto? La vida en la escuela: celebraciones, rutinas, uniformes, edificios, materias, deportes. Esta presentación dio respuesta a las siguientes preguntas: -¿Cómo crear una nueva visión en el aula? -¿Cómo prepararse para participar en un proyecto de iEARN? -¿Cómo poner en práctica habilidades de comunicación globales? -¿Cómo lograr que los estudiantes se involucren? -¿Cómo compartir los trabajos? -¿Cómo establecer expectativas razonables? -¿Cómo construir relaciones interpersonales? -¿Cómo maximizar los recursos? -¿Cómo construir a partir de pequeños éxitos? 13. Narcisos y Tulipanes Facilitadoras: Ruty Hotzen , Israely Joan Price, Australia

Clases de todo el mundo plantas bulbos de narcisos y tulipanes. Los alumnos deben controlar la temperatura durante el experimento y comunicarla al grupo; además deben avisar cuándo prospera la floración. De este modo tendrán la oportunidad de hacer un uso activo de sus conocimientos de matemática, ciencias naturales, geografía y cultura. El proyecto puede ser tan complejo o tan simple como la clase lo necesite.

14. Taisho Koto Facilitadores: Motoko Hirota, Yoshie Naya y Yoko Takagi, Japón.

15. Historia local Facilitadores: Rimma Zhukova, Patty Wu & Thefonz Hsieh

Taisho Koto es un pequeño instrumento de percusión que fue creado hace 100 años está hecho en madera y es representativo de la cultura japonesa. El proyecto invita a los participantes a conocer y disfrutar de la música japonesa. El 16 de agosto de 2016 tendrá lugar un concierto en Nigata, Japón al que están todos invitados. La participación y entrada al concierto es gratuita. PROYECTOS

Este proyecto colaborativo para estudiantes está dirigido por docentes. Los alumnos investigan sobre la historia de sus comunidades y comparten los resultados con sus pares del mundo. El proyecto permite a los jóvenes y docentes colaborar en forma local y global utilizando las TIC para resaltar el aprendizaje y marcar una diferencia en sus comunidades y el mundo.

16. Arte público Facilitadora: Shiva Azizpour

El arte persa es uno de los más ricos y reconocidos artes en la historia mundial. En el marco de este proyectos se realizaron investigaciones sobre estatuas famosas y se visitaron estatuas de poetas, escritores, científicos, filósofos y políticos. Se compartieron fotografías e informes en la red iEARN.

PROYECTOS

En el marco del proyecto VOYAGE, el grupo "Manos Mágicas" realizó una presentación invitando a unir las manos para hacer cosas maravillosas y animar a todos a ser más compasivos. Repartieron juguetes hechos a mano a niños enfermos terminales de cáncer. También visitaron hogares de adultos mayores y realizaron presentaciones musicales con instrumentos iraníes.

Al final del 3 de Julio se realizó la noche cultural donde cada una de las delegaciones compartieron con las demás particularidades de su cultura: canciones, vestimentas, comidas, bailes, religiones. Se presentaron: Argentina, Australia, Brasil, Estados Unidos, Holanda, Irán, Japón, Palestina, Puerto Rico, República Dominicana, Surinam y Taiwán.

This e-book corresponds to a series of publications of the International Conference iEARN-Fundación Evolución 2014. The series is composed by six e-books: Backstage, Posters, Presentations and Case Studies, Projects, Resources, Workshops. Every paper is available in English and Spanish. Backstage of the International iEARN Conference 2014: It describes the steps and procedures

followed by Fundación Evolución to plan, implement and monitor the development of the conference, together with some useful advice for future international events.

Posters iEARN 2014: It shows photographs of the posters and a summary of their contents. Conferences, case studies and a tribute to the iEARN founders: It includes summaries of the

iEARN 2014

iEARN (International Education and Resource Network) is a non-profit organization made up of over 30,000 schools and youth organizations in more than 140 countries. iEARN empowers teachers and young people to work together online using the Internet and other new communication technologies. To find out more about this network, watch iEARN's video: “Learning with the world, not just about it!” This big network has associated networks in each country. In Argentina, Red TELAR is the iEARN national associate and it is composed by teachers and students from the whole country, supported and coordinated by Fundación Evolución (FE). In 2014, Fundación Evolución (www.fundacionevolucion.org.ar) organized the 21st iEARN Conference and 18th Youth Summit in Puerto Madryn, Chubut Province, Argentina. Twenty years before, in 1994, the 1st iEARN Conference was also held by iEARN Argentina in the same place. The iEARN 2014 International Conference motto was “Creativity, innovation and global learning”. Teachers and 265 youngsters from 22 countries attended the conference: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Cameroon, Canada, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Iran, Israel, Japan, Netherlands, Palestine, Peru, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Suriname, Taiwan and USA. Delegations coming from Argentinian provinces were also present: Buenos Aires, Ciudad de Buenos Aires, Chubut, Córdoba, Corrientes, Entre Ríos, Formosa, La Pampa, La Rioja, Mendoza, Misiones, Neuquén, Río Negro, San Juan, San Luis, Santa Fe, Santiago del Estero, Tucumán. The activities included: 4 conferences, 30 workshops, 3 case studies panels, 1 media festival,1 tribute, the presentation of 17 iEARN projects in 2 panels and the exhibition of 17 posters.

This document deals with the experiences of working with iEARN projects in schools from many parts of the world which were presented in the 21st iEARN Conference and the 18th Youth Summit in Puerto Madryn, Chubut, Argentina from June 29th to July 5th, 2014. The following topics are briefly developed: What’s iEARN? What were the projects presented in the panels of the 2014 iEARN Conference? Cultural Night Finally, there is a selection of photographs of the panels and the bibliography.

2. What´s iEARN?

iEARN (International Education and Resource Network, www.iearn.org) is a non-profit organization made up of over 30,000 schools and youth organizations in more than 140 countries. iEARN empowers teachers and young people to work together online using the Internet and other new communications technologies. Over 2,000,000 students each day are engaged in collaborative project work worldwide. IEARN provides three levels of support: Coordinator, Representative and Contact. Coordinator: Those countries which had asked to be members of the net and were accepted by the iEARN Assembly have a “Coordinator” and can vote at the Assembly. 3. iEARN Projects

Educators propose and participate in different projects with their students. Every iEARN project must answer the question:

How will this Project improve the quality of life on the planet?

The shared vision and objectives provide consistency to iEARN projects. Students who participate in them develop abilities to get involved in their community issues and are better prepared to be future responsible citizens. “Collaborative inter-school projects that include ICT make a didactic strategy used by institutions (schools, educational portals, non governmental organizations, etc.) that invites teachers and students to participate in a series of learning activities for the achievement of a common pedagogical objective during a certain time. The projects can be worked locally, nationally or internationally. They have different duration (from two months to a year), level of difficulty and may involve students of all ages”.(2)

4. Projects presented in iEARN 2014 Panels

Plenary panels were offered to share the experience of many iEARN projects in schools from all around the world. Participants could get to know the existing projects, main aspects of them, difficulties, and meet colleagues with the same interests. To give some time to all the presenters and to focus on the implementation of projects, we decided to use the “Pecha Kucha 20x20” format. The name “Pecha Kucha” comes from a Japanese word that imitates the sounds of chat: bla-bla-bla/chit chat, etc. The idea of this format is to allow people to share their ideas in a brief and precise way that keeps a high level of attention on the audience. Each presenter can use 20 slides or images which are shown during 20 seconds each. Every presentation lasts 6 minutes and 40 seconds on the whole. Two teachers, new in iEARN, share their experience on the net. They presented a guide in which they highlight the classroom vision, the construction of support nets, the technological challenges, their expectations and achievements and the time management. They also give advice about surfing iEARN Network successfully and how coordinators and facilitators can better support new members.

2. Photojournalism 20144: “Heritage, Hunger and Food Security - Empowering a New Generation of Leaders” Facilitators: Nicole Weitzner, Chris Baer and Aqeela Jogee Cutter, US.

3. Intercultural Communicative Competence of Special Education Students

The presentation “Photojournalism 2014: Heritage, Hunger and Food Security—Empowering a New Generation of Leaders” encapsulates all three themes of the 2014 iEARN Conference: creativity, innovation and global learning. It will include a brief overview of iEARN’s Photojournalism 2014: Heritage, Hunger and Food Security program and highlight how it has engaged educators and high school youth in Pakistan, Tajikistan, the United States.

The purpose of this presentation is to share the participation of a group of deaf students on international collaborative projects. The presenter expects to motivate more teachers of Special Education programs to join project-based learning within iEARN network. The data collected is part of an action research to purse a master´s degree with focus on Intercultural Communication. Facilitator: Claudia Batista, Brazil.

4. Teddy Bear Project Facilitator: Rose Gimenes, Brazil.

5. Talking Kites

This project aims to foster tolerance and understanding of cultures other than your own. After teachers register, the facilitator matches you with a partner class. Once paired, classes send each other a Teddy Bear or other soft toy by airmail through the normal postal system. The bear sends home diary messages by email or through the iEARN Teddy Bear Forum at least once a week. The students write the diary messages as if they are the visiting bear describing its experiences in the new. www.rosegimenes.blogspot.com

Students make kites to fly as a massive tribute dedicated to advancing the cultural and social dialog, a symbol of bridging the gap and understanding the "other." This will hopefully become a continuous tradition of flying kites with personal and group images of our dreams for a better world, a world of co-existence, tolerance, acceptance of the "other" and peace. 6. Finding Solutions to Hunger The money gained was donated to MAHAK, the most successful charity in Iran. Nothing would have been better than giving the poor, ill children the toys and fresh fruits and seeing them smile after a long time especially for it was a few days before The New Year’s Eve. This project gave us the chance and honor to be a drop for saturating the desert of hunger where many people are wandering in. Facilitators: Kiana Karami y Marzeah Abedi, Iran

7. Technology: A link between different pedagogical proposals.

When it comes to the world’s biggest solvable obstacle, “Hunger” must be the first issue mentioned. There are more than 800 million people around the world who know what it is like to go to bed hungry although the world produces enough food to feed everyone but still these people remain chronically hungry. That’s why we called our team “Hunger Warriors” to start fighting hunger. The most major challenge we had for both advertising and putting the project on action was the food festival, which wouldn’t have been possible without the collaborative interaction of the entire school.

Two very different schools, “Instituto CREAR de Educación Especial” (special education) http://www.institutocrear.edu.ar/ and “Instituto Tomás Devoto” http://www.tomasdevoto.edu.ar/, located a few blocks away in Buenos Aires, Argentina, were connected only by online collaborative projects of Red TELAR-iEARN for many years. They both participated in different initiatives at the same time:

Telar goes to school, World Tour, Cards Exchange and Celebrations on the Net. This relationship grew up and in 2012 the schools started an integration project which is still being developed. Its aim is to provide exchange spaces by different techniques so that team work can generate social links. The presentation explained how these two schools have been developing their work on online collaborative projects since 2005. Facilitators: Laura Golubovic y Cristina Velázquez, Argentina.

8. Machinto Facilitator: Yoko Takagi, Japan.

Based on books such as “Machinto” and “Sadako”, related to Hiroshima/Nagasaki, the project connects students around the world who learn about what wars bring us and encourages them to express themselves against violence. 9. Natural Disaster Youth Summit

10. Early Peoples Symbols Facilitators: Abdelaziz Rhazzali, Christine Hockert and Christine Kolstoe, US.

We learned the importance of human lives and preparedness for disasters that may occur at any time. The goal of the project is to enhance awareness of natural disasters to families, schools and local communities around the world through children's actions. NDYS will build a global disaster management education network utilizing Information and Communications Technology (ICT). http://www.ndys.jearn.jp Facilitators: Yoshie Naya y Yoko Takagi, Japan

In the Early Peoples Symbols (EPS) project, students will explore the meanings of their cultural symbols. They will start by doing research (Internet, local libraries, museums, art books, and artifacts such as rugs, wall, ceiling, floor drawings, pictographs, etc.) in their communities. Then, they will briefly tell the story related to the symbol using journals, Voice Threads, PowerPoint Presentations, videos or digital photos. Students are also invited to create a drawing or painting using these symbols. Upon completion of the research and documentation of the story, students will share their artwork and stories in the forum and the EPS website (http://sites.google.com/site/earlypeoplesymbols/home).

16. Tulips and Daffodils Project Facilitators: Ruty Hotzen, Israel and Joan Price, Australia.

Students in different parts of the world plant bulbs together and collect data on various parameters (latitude, longitude, sunlight, temperature etc.) and track when they blossom. They will be asked to collect temperature data throughout the experiment and report to the group – in addition they will report when the blooms appear etc using their knowledge of Math, Natural Sciences and Geography. The project can be as involved or as simple as the class needs it to be.

Taisho Koto is a wooden musical instrument invented in Japan almost 100 years ago. The Project invites participants to learn how to play it and enjoy Japanese music. On August 16th, 2016 there will be a concert in Nigata, Japan where we are all invited. Participation and entrance are free. The Local History Project is a teacher directed collaborative student project in which students research the history of their communities and share their findings with their global peers. The LHP enables the youth and teachers to collaborate locally and globally, using ICT to enhance learning and make a difference in their own communities and around the world.

17. Magic Hands Facilitator: Nasim Sadeghi, Iran.

The Persian art is one of the richest and recognized arts in world history. As part of this project students visited and researched about famous statues of poets, writers, scientists, philosophers and politicians. Reports on the iEARN network and pictures were shared.

Under VOYAGE project, the "Magic Hands" group made a presentation inviting join hands to do wonderful things and encourage everyone to be more compassionate. They handed handmade toys to terminal cancer sick children. They also visited homes of elderly people and performed music with Iranian instruments.

On July 3rd a Cultural Night was held with dances, songs, typical food and clothing presented by the delegations from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Iran, Japan, Netherlands, Palestine, Puerto Rico, Suriname, Taiwan and USA.

¿Qué es Fundación Evolución?

Fundación Evolución (FE) es una organización argentina sin fines de lucro registrada en la Inspección General de Justicia (IGJ) en Argentina bajo el número 0097/94. Desde 1989 promueve la integración pedagógica de las Tecnologías de la Información y Comunicación en ámbitos educativos. Tiene como visión contribuir a mejorar la calidad de la enseñanza y el aprendizaje a través del uso reflexivo e innovador de las TIC, con el fin de promover el desarrollo integral de las personas. Su misión es consolidarse como una organización con presencia en todo el país, proactiva en la generación de oportunidades de aprendizaje colaborativo, continuo y de calidad para todos, a través de tecnologías educativas de vanguardia. La FE diseña e implementa iniciativas de alcance nacional, regional e internacional en: Formación y acompañamiento de educadores e instituciones interesados en la integración de las

TIC en ámbitos educativos formales y no formales; Generación de comunidades virtuales de aprendizaje y colaboración; Formación de mujeres y varones jóvenes con el propósito de desarrollar capacidades tecnológicas

para aprender y trabajar; Producción, adaptación y localización de contenidos educativos; Investigación acerca de aspectos del aprendizaje y la enseñanza con TIC y los contextos en los que

se desarrollan; Asesoramiento a organismos y gobiernos para la implementación y evaluación de iniciativas

pedagógicas de integración de TIC. Cerca de 20 mil alumnos y 1.200 docentes de escuelas argentinas participan anualmente en uno o varios de los proyectos que coordina la Fundación Evolución. Y desde 2001, más de 90 mil docentes han sido capacitados en el uso pedagógico de las TIC, en el marco de los programas de formación que la organización implementa en todo el país. Entre otros reconocimientos, en 2006 recibió el Premio Estímulo a la Educación del Harvard Club Argentina.

What is Fundación Evolución?

Fundación Evolución (FE) is a nonprofit organization registered with number 0097/94. Since 1989,

promotes the pedagogical integration of ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) in

educational environments. Its vision is to contribute to the improvement of teaching and learning by

the reflexive and innovative use of ICTs, to promote an integral development of people.

Its mission is to consolidate itself as an organization that is present throughout the country,

proactively generating opportunities of collaborative, continuous and quality learning for everyone by

the use of cutting edge educational technologies.

FE designs and implements initiatives of national, regional and international reach:

To train and help educators and institutions interested in the integration of ICTs in formal and non

formal educational areas.

To generate virtual communities of learning and collaboration.

To train young people to develop technological abilities for learning and working;

To produce, adapt and localize educational contents;

To investigate the aspects of learning and teaching with ICTs and the contexts in which they

develop;

To advice institutions and governments to implement and assess pedagogical initiatives for ICT

integration.

Every year about 20,000 students and 1,200 teachers from Argentinean schools participate in one or

more projects coordinated by Fundación Evolución. And since 2001, more than 90,000 teachers have

been trained in the pedagogical use of ICTs through the training programs implemented throughout

the country. FE received many awards, one of them was the Harvard Club Argentina Award on

Education 2006.
