MEMBERSHIPThe Service Desk is ready to assist you in the membership process, from scheduling atourofthefacilitytofillingoutforms.Fornewmembersandlapsedmemberships(30 days), the joiner’s fee plus one month membership fee are required upon joining. Fees are then withdrawn from your bank account or charged to your credit card monthly on the 12th of each month. Bank account information and a voided check or credit/debit card are needed to start the process. The monthly deduction bank plan is a continuous membership method of payment. Memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable.

GUEST POLICY & RATES Guests are required to purchase a day pass. Purchases of guest passes are limited to six per calendar year per person. Photo ID is required.• Youth $4• Adult $7• Family $10 (2 adults and dependent children)

FAMILY FRIENDLY FRIDAYSOn the 2nd Friday of each month, members can bring a guest for free. Community members must show photo ID.

TOGETHERHOODTogetherhood is a national signature program of the YMCA in the program area of Social Responsibility. This program provides members with the unique opportunity to reach out and give back positively to their community through service projects. Togetherhood is headed by a team of dedicated Y members and all projects are member-led and outward-facing. The Y members involved in the planning team choose, design, and recruit volunteers for each project. This is a great opportunity to connect with other Y members through fun, convenient, and rewarding volunteer experiences! YMCA POLICIESLost/Stolen ItemsThe Y is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please use a lock. Locks for daily use can be obtained at the Service Desk and Welcome Desk. Lost articles that have been turned in are kept for a short period after which items are donated.Racquetball CourtsCourt reservations may be made in advance by calling the Welcome Desk at 715-839-4620. Use of courts is free to members. Players may play on an open court at any time, but reserved court time is a priority.Lifestyle Fitness Center (LFC)The LFC is open to ages 12 and over. Youth ages 12-14 must complete an orientation before working out. Youth ages 11 and under are welcome if accompanied by an adult.Remember Your CardAllmembersmusthaveamembershipcardandaphotoonfile.Weaskyoutoscanyour card each and every time you come to the Y. We track building usage and the numbershelpuswithpurchasingequipment,staffingandsecurity.Thankyouforyour cooperation.Locker RoomsThe children’s co-ed locker room is only for children to change. Adults must change in adult locker rooms.Program RegistrationEau Claire YMCA members, please sign up during member registration to ensure your preferred program times. Most programs have enrollment limits so early registration is encouraged. To register for a program at member rates, your Y membership MUST be valid during the entire program session. If you decide to cancel your membership while still participating in a program, you will be required to pay the difference between the community and member program fee. If your child has any medical problems or concerns, it is the responsibility of the parent to notify the program director in writing prior to the starting date of the program. Program attendance is vital to your child receiving quality instruction from the program. We ask that all participants attend classes on a regular basis. Due to class size limits, we do not allow a child to make up a missed lesson.Guest PolicyYou are welcome to bring a guest to use the facilities with you. Guests are required to purchase a daily guest pass. Guests can purchase a maximum of six guest passes per calendar year. Photo ID required.VolunteersVolunteers are vital to the success of the Y and are needed in many roles such as instructing, coaching, refereeing, score keeping, maintenance, time keeping, fundraising, etc. If you are interested in volunteering your time, please contact Jen at [email protected] Eau Claire YMCA does not provide accident or hospital insurance for people participating in activities and programs. It is recommended that all participants review their personal insurance policies for coverage. The use of the Y facilities is voluntary. The Y is not responsible for any injuries that occur while in our facility. NOTE: It is recommended that children be a minimum of 11 years old to be left alone at the Y.

Program Refund/Credit PolicyThe Y reserves the right to cancel, reschedule or combine classes that do not have sufficientenrollment.Intheeventofaclasscancelledduetolowenrollmentorchange to the original schedule, a full refund or program credit will be issued.• All cancellation requests must be done in person, via email or in

writing; phone call requests are not accepted.• When a cancellation request is received two or more business days

prior to the start of the class a full refund or program credit will be issued.

• Whenacancellationrequestisreceivedduringthefirsttwoweeksofthe session, a Y program credit will be issued for the prorated balance of the remaining classes, less a $5 cancellation fee.

• When a cancellation request is received for a medical condition, a physician’s note will need to accompany the request. A full refund or program credit will be issued less a $5 cancellation fee.

• Refunds/program credits will not be issued when payment for a class is under $5.

• There are no credits given for individual classes missed.• No refunds/credits are given on individual classes cancelled due to

weather.• Some programs require a deposit/registration fee that is non-

refundable. Participant cancellation in these programs will result in the loss of the deposit.

• Program credits will expire 12 months after date of issue.Code of ConductThe Board of Directors of the Eau Claire YMCA recognizes the right for all Y members to enjoy participation in our programs and facilities without fear for personal safety or verbal abuse. The Y staff is empowered by the Board of Directors to suspend membership privileges of anyone who behaves in a manner which negatively affects other members.Program DiscountsFinancial assistance and employee discounts are not available for all programs. Please contact the Service Desk for a current list.Photo PolicyThe Y reserves the right to take photographs of adults and children participating in Y programs to be used in promotional literature. AQUATIC PROGRAMSSkips Parent/Child Swim Lessons Ages 3-36 monthsThe Skips class focuses on strengthening the parent and child relationship while teaching the fundamentals of water safety. A parent will accompany their child into the water for each lesson. This class is ideal for our youngest swimmers.Pike & Parent Ages 2-4 yearsThis parent/child class is ideal for a toddler looking for more independence in the water under the guidance of a parent. Pike I skills will be the basis of each lesson. Pike I Ages 3-5 years PikeIintroducesnewswimmerstothepool.Participantsareintroducedtofloating,kicking, blowing bubbles and pool safety with an instructor’s assistance. Pike II Ages 3-5 yearsPike II strives to further assist the beginner swimmer to adjust to swim lessons. Swimmerslearntofloat,kickandblowbubblesindependently.Eel Ages 4-5 yearsEelswimmersareabletoindependentlyfloat,kickandblowbubbles.Eelsareableto comfortably perform the paddle stroke 10 yards.Ray Ages 4-5 yearsSwimmers strive to improve their existing stroke skills with exposure to treading water, rhythmic breathing and underwater swimming. Preschool Water Games Ages 4-5 yearsEnjoy playing games in the water? Participants will engage in fun and enjoyable water games like wetball, sharks and minnows, water tag, steal the bacon and many more! Swimmers will develop the Y core values through structured playtime. Starfish Ages 5-6 yearsStarfishswimmerswillcontinuetoimproveontheirabilitiestotreadwater,swimfront crawl with rhythmic breathing, and develop a rudimentary breast stroke. Starfishswimmersshouldbeabletoswim1lengthofthepoolunassisted.Polliwog Ages 6-8 yearsPolliwogswimmerslearnfloatingskills,flutterkick,paddlestroke,elementarystrokeandpersonalsafety. This class is ideal for school-age swimmers who are new to swim lessons.

Guppy Ages 6-8 yearsGuppyswimmerscontinuetobuildontheirfloating,kickingandrhythmicbreathingskills. Guppy swimmers are expected to swim 25 yards without assistance and comfortably swim in water deeper than 4 feet deep.Youth Water Sports Ages 6-12 yearsEnjoy playing games in the water? Learn how to play popular water sports. Participants will learn sports like, wetball, water polo, water hockey, synchronized swimming and many more! Swimmers will develop the Y core values through structured playtime. Minnow Ages 8-12 yearsMinnows are challenged to become acquainted with several strokes including the front & back crawl, breast stroke, elementary stroke and side stroke. Fish Ages 8-12 yearsFisharepushedtorefinetheirstroketechniqueandlearnthebutterflystroke.Fishare expected to comfortably swim 50+ yards per stroke.Flying Fish/Shark Ages 10-12 yearsSwimmers are expected to master all swimming strokes! Stroke technique and swimming endurance are largely emphasized. Swimmers are expected to

comfortably swim 200+ yards per stroke.

MARLINS SWIM TEAM2015 Summer SwimThe Eau Claire YMCA Marlins Swim Team offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages andabilitylevels.Itisourgoaltoofferage-specifictraining geared toward challenging and developing each individual to the best of his or her ability. Mini Marlins Ages 4-8 This group provides an introduction to competitive swimming for children ages 4 through 8. This is a great way to prepare your young swimmer for YMCA Marlins Swim Team while developing new skills & friendships! Mini Marlins is primarily taught in the YMCA small wading pool. When the swimmers are ready, a portion of the lesson will be moved to the big pool. Indigo GroupTraining at this level is primarily for swimmers who are currently swimming or desire to swim in high school or college. Swimmers who choose to swim Indigo Level must be prepared to swim up to 8,000M or more per day. Stroke technique will be a priority, along with dry land conditioning and work on mental preparation for racing, starts, turns, and underwater work. Focus is placed on offering swimmers the opportunity to participate in peer groups that are appropriate, positive, and encourage healthy attitudes toward training. Y-JUNIORS ENTERING GRADES 5-6

Y-Juniors is based on our Adventure Camp and designed for students who are transitioning from elementary school to middle school. This program offers youth a chance to budget and plan where they go each day with their own transportation. In addition to what the kids do in Adventure Camp, your camper will develop leadership skills through mentoring younger campers, community service projects, assisting with their own schedule and other enrichment opportunities.

Weekly Themes The Y-Juniors follow the same themes and activities as Discovery Camp shown on page 14.

Y-LEADERS ENTERING GRADES 7-8

The Y-Leader program balances a fun and exciting summerexperienceofbigweeklyfieldtripswhileoffering a variety of youth leadership opportunities that develop life skills, health and wellness, recreation, and self-awareness. We hope by the end of the summer the youth have had the opportunity for character development, are committed to community service, and become leaders! This weekly program for students going into Grades 7 and 8 assists in developing teamwork, leadership, budgeting, safety, healthy living, and community stewardship. In this program, your children will grow, thrive, lead and belong. These lifelong skills can be applied to their lives now and into the future.This program meets weekly Monday – Thursday from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. Participants will be placed in a group of no more than 13 students where they learn to budget their weekly allowance, plan a weekly community service project, and decide what other activities they want to do for the week.

BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL AGED CHILD CARE (SACC)Grades K-5 | Open to Members and Community The Y operates the SACC programs at the Y and various other sites in the Eau Claire area schools. This program is designed to provide children a safe, enriching, dependable and affordable before and after school experience. Y-Tee of the Chippewa Valley is dedicated to enhancing the lives of youth through character development and value-driven educational curriculumsallthroughthegameofgolf.Thisfun-filledprogramoffers three levels of golf education that are geared to various ages and ability levels. You will begin by learning the basic components of a golf swing and the parts of the course. 2015 TACKLE FOOTBALL LEAGUE Grades 5 & 6Join USA Football and Eau Claire area youth in the area’s largest Youth Tackle Football League. The tackle football season runs mid-August through late-October over a 12-14 week period consisting of practices during the week and games on Saturdays. Participants will be placed on teams according to where they attend school. Rostersarelimitedto25players.Inthecaseofanoverflowofplayersorlateregistrations,playersmaybeplacedonteamsnotaffiliatedwiththeirschool.Thismay include some players traveling from neighboring cities. Our league is designed to help teach the fundamentals and skills as well as the rules of the game and both teamwork and sportsmanship. Player safety is a priority so USA Football Head’s Up tackling techniques will be taught and enforced. YMCA DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAMIf you are at high risk for type 2 diabetes, this program is for you! The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program helps those at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles by eating healthier, increasing physical activity and losing a modest amount of weight in order to reduce their chances of developing the disease. Research by the National Institutes of Health has proven that programs like the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program can reduce the number of cases of type 2 diabetes by 58%. ABOUT THE PROGRAMIn a classroom setting, a trained lifestyle coach will help facilitate a small group of participants in learning about healthier eating, physical activity and other behavior changes over a 12-month period, beginning with 16 weekly one-hour sessions followed by monthly maintenance for added support to help them maintain their progress.DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM GOALS: • Reduce body weight by 7%• Increase physical activity to 150 minutes per

Parents provide the refreshments and necessary tableware (cups, plates, napkins and plastic ware), and we will provide the rest (tables and chairs)!

PROGRESSIVE GYMNASTICSProgressive classes promote success by bringing out the best in each child through safe, exciting classes geared toward instilling a positive mental focus and an “I can do it” attitude. Each class will include instruction on all four artistic gymnastics events:vault,bars,beam,andfloor.Theseprogramsareforchildrenenrolledin kindergarten and older. Our YMCA Cabrioles Gymnastics team is governed by USA Gymnastics rules and guidelines. The Cabrioles competitive team consists of levels 2-10 and XCEL divisions. Each level focuses on solid basics and skill progressions while developing the YMCA core values of respect, responsibility, caring, and honesty. Team building activities are planned throughout the year in addition to competitions. Our competitive team competes October - March and travels to different YMCAs throughout Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. Our competitive season concludes with the State meet in March. Our annual Big Chill Gymnastics Invitational will be held in December and is open to the public. Teams from throughout Wisconsin and Upper Michigan will compete in USA GymnasticsLevels1-10andXCELinallfourcompetitiveevents.Awesomeraffles,gymnastics clothing, and yummy concessions are available throughout the weekend competition.

Lesson participants can make up for missed lessons in a similar group lesson in the same session if approved by the Tennis Director, Head Pro, or lesson instructor Quick Start It’s a whole new ballgame for youth tennis! With equipment and courts tailored tosuittheirneedsandabilities,kidswillfeelconfidentassoonastheypickuparacquet. Using the Quick Start Tennis format allows kids to rally back and forth over the net right away and enjoy the game right from the start. Quick Start 1 Ages 4-5For children ages 4-5 or the proper skill level. This is a fun, engaging program that teaches the fundamentals of tennis including hand-eye coordination, back and forehand strokes, simple games where points are scored, cooperative activities, basic rules, care of equipment, and sportsmanship. We will use 36’ courts, foam or red balls, and 17” racquets. Quick Start 2 Ages 6-7For children ages 6-7 or the proper skill level. Children will continue to improve on the form taught in QS 1. Players will also begin to learn basic rules of the game, to keep score, to make shot decisions and basic tenets of doubles and continue developing sportsmanship. We will use 36’ or 60’ courts, foam or orange balls, and 19” racquets. Quick Start 3 Ages 7-12For children ages 7-12 or the proper skill level. Children will continue to develop what they learned in QS 2 while spending more time learning to play and apply rules of individual or doubles play, practice, encourage and support others, and continue their development of being a good sport. We will use 60’ courts, orange or green balls and 25” racquets.Transitions Ages 12+For tennis players that have been through the Quick Start program and are ready to transition to the 78 foot court. They will use green dot, yellow tennis balls, and the 36” net.

Ace Program All Ace classes meet 2 times per weekCompetitive training for the serious junior tennis player. Strokes, strategy, conditioning, and mental toughness will be stressed. Please contact Matt Boughton or Matt Sem before signing up for any Ace program to ensure that your children are placed in the appropriate class. Juniors may NOT sign up for only one day of the class. The roster spots are only for juniors that can participate in both classes weekly.Ace III Formerly Ace III and Junior StarsCompetitive Junior High to Junior Varsity level players. This class is designed to be fun and interactive, all while meeting the current needs of the player. 2015 SUMMER TENNIS CAMPThe Eau Claire YMCA Summer Tennis Camp offers a concentrated, but highly interesting and invigorating tennis experience. This intense and rewarding learning-and-playing program will help players improve their skill set. Instruction is geared to all levels of play, from beginner to tournament player. Every aspect of the tennis game will be thoroughly covered, including: basic strokes, strategy and overall conditioning. Drills will be designed to provide game-like practice for possible playing situations. We will maintain a low student-teacher ratio throughout the session in order to ensure personal attention.
