•Anorexia is the Greek for ‘loss of appetite’.•Body image distortion•Starving yourself, sometimes even to a point of no return•You don’t always have to be extremely thin to be anorexic•Excessive fear of gaining weight

•Irregular or complete loss of menstrual period/testis shrink•Dry skin•Hair loss•Growth of fine body hair•Heart damage/cardiac arrest•Bone loss/osteoperosis•Withdrawal/isolation•Death

• Mainly occurs in women, but also men• 90% of women are targeted with anorexia• For every 200 women, 1 in 6 are anorexic• 20% will die from anorexia• Only 2-3% get treatment• Affects 12-20 year olds

•Binge eating•Forcibly throwing up

•Tooth enamel erosion•Swelling in the salivary glands•Stomach ulcers•Ruptures of the stomach + oesophagus•Abnormal build up of fluid in intestines•Dehydration•Irregular heartbeat/cardiac arrest

• 95% of people who are bulimic are women• Most common in late teens to twenties• 64% of bulimics have a near-normal body weight• Homosexual males are more likely to develop

bulimia than Heterosexual males• Half of all anorexic’s develop bulimic tendencies

Basically the same as Anorexia nervosa, just with the extreme obsession with exercising without eating

Obsession with only eating one type of food, mainly ‘healthy’ food. Like, salad, fruit and vegetables.

Page 9: Eating disorders

A medical disorder characterized by an appetite mainly for non-nutricious objects like metal, faeces, clay, coal, chalk, paper, soap, mucus, ash and

gum.

Also sometimes they like to eat ingredients that are used to make actual food like flour and starch, even ice cubes!
