Bad Feminist Roxane Gay Eastern Illinois University Wednesday, March 6, 2013 6:30 pm Smith-Buonanno Hall, Room 201 95 Cushing Street Pembroke Campus Brown University Department of English Nonfiction Writing Program presents This event is made possible by Shane Family Program Fund Salomon Grant (Dean of the College) Roxane Gay, Assistant Professor of English at Eastern Illinois University, will present a talk and reading and will offer pointers on how to write with passion, care and occasional humor from imperfect opinions and conflicting principles--how a writer can be a "bad" feminist, a "good" citizen, and a “committed” cultural participant. She will read nonfiction and fiction from Ayiti, a collection of short works on Haiti and the Haitian diaspora, and her forthcoming essay collection Bad Feminist. Professor Gay’s writing has appeared in or is forthcoming in Best American Short Stories 2012, Best Sex Writing 2012, The New York Times Book Review, Salon, and The Wall Street Journal , among others.
