Update From Katie

Happy Half Term!

It's been an exciting and busy half term as the classes from Station Road have been settling into their new classrooms at Killingworth.

The move was seamless and staff worked very hard to get the classrooms and therapy spaces ready for the children coming back after the Christmas

holiday. A big thank you to everyone concerned. The children have settled really well and seem to be enjoying their new surroundings.

It's quite a relief that the days are getting longer now and we can almost feel spring in the air. I know the staff have plans for the new gardens and outdoor space and it get's easier,

and more pleasant, for the children to spend time outdoors as the weather improves. I hope to have photographs of special projects as children complete them and we hope the weather allows us to use our outdoor spaces to their full capacity.

Please don't be a stranger - if anyone has some time to get involved in school, please let

your child's team know. It would be wonderful to see you and I know the children will benefit from your support.

Have a happy and safe half term break and remember that the children return to school on Monday February 27th.

Very best wishes,

Katie PS I would like to remind you that Ofsted's Parent View (http://parentview.ofsted.gov.uk) is still awaiting feedback. I think we're now up to 7 responses but we need at least 12 for this to be available for Ofsted when they next visit. It would be great if you could find a few minutes to complete their short survey.

Welcome to the first Newsletter of 2017

I would like to welcome new families to school and introduce myself. I work part time as Family Liaison Officer, providing a signposting service to families. I also pass on information via Newsletters, at coffee mornings/afternoons and arrange training/workshops for families. If there is anything you feel I may be able to help with, please get in contact. I would like to recommend that families join the mailing list of “Contact a family” who e-mail frequent bulletins with valuable information on training, workshops and social activities in the North East. To receive these, please e-mail [email protected]. All Local Authorities have a “Local Offer” section on their website which give information on activities local to you. If you need help finding yours, please contact me. Could I ask that parents/carers complete the “Ofsted Parent View” survey? This is checked by Ofsted prior to inspections; it is also circulated during an inspection. However, some of our students access Bradbury View during the week which would delay this information getting to them. It takes about 5-10 minutes to complete and, in order to do it you will first need to register via email. You will have received a letter from Dr Sue Fisher, Director of Education Services recently asking for your support. You will find the link on the website under the headings: Parents and families > Parent Views.

PTA updates: PTA My Family Liaison role assists the PTA, which raises funds for classes and provides a link between school and home to foster good communication. Information on the PTA can be found on the website. We held our AGM on 24 January 2017. Your new committee is: Chair: Claire Jamieson (Parent) Vice Chair: Sarah Voysey (Parent) Secretary: Rebecca Fletcher (Staff) Treasurer: Lesley Martin (Parent) Also supporting the PTA are: Pupil links: Rebecca Fletcher and Joanne Gibson (Staff) Family Liaison Support: Eileen Robinson (Parent/Staff) Please check on the website for PTA information. It will be under the “Parents and Families” heading. The easiest way to contact me is by email, or messages can be left with Reception staff at Killingworth Best wishes, Eileen Robinson, Family Liaison Officer Email: [email protected] Telephone: 0191 2161811
