Opening Credits.The O2 arena is a well know landmark for the city of London, as well as this the river themes is highlighted during the opening credits, because of this it is clear to the audience that this soap opera will take place in London.

The title of the soap opera is clear above the background image – the audience will now know that it is set in the East end of the location.

The music played in the opening credits, begins with a drum set and then continues into a piano, the music doesn’t seem exciting, is very mellow and boring.

Mess at the bottom of the stairs implies that children of a few ages would also live in the house.

The socks and no shoes, shows the audience that this person must either live here or has stayed the night.

Characters performance and facial expression allows the storyline to unveil as it is clear he was trying to quietly sneak out the house.

“A goodbye would’ve been nice.”

The one and only quote used in this scene allows the audience to completely understand the situation, it seems this middle aged women and man may have just took part in a one night stand, where he has tried

to sneak out and she is upset.

The mise en scene is this seen shows a typical working/middle class house, the decoration is well and truly dated with green carpets, cream walls, faint leopard print wall paper and old paintings on the wall in dark

wooden frames.

At first glance this women looks all glamorous, however the mise en

scene of the brick wall, food poster and other characters in the

background, e.g. the builders (shown my their florescent jackets).

All of this suggests that maybe she it fake and all the ‘glamour’ is an

act, a character like this can sometimes automatically dislike her

before they know her background or storyline.

This shot is a medium close up has been taken through a piece of furniture in the set, doing this allows the audience to feel they are taking place in the storyline.

The mise en scene in this shot, from the desk, the phone, the suit too all the messy papers indicates to the audience that this is an office however do too the mess, colours and lighting it implies that maybe this is a dodgy (maybe illegal) business). The lighting and performance in this shot also suggests that this man maybe a dark, evil character.
