SYNOPSIS (THIS OUTLINES THE FLOW OF THE PARTY EVENTS) It’s 1955 and Fontaine City has a problem with teenage street gangs. In the east, there’s a hot rod racing

gang called the D-Birds. Their ladies are members of the girly clique called the Pink Chicks. These rebels attend Ryder High and spend their free time at Frosty’s Diner. The Pit Viper motorcycle gang runs the west side of town, and their ladies are the Black Widows. These hooligans attend Tuscadero High School and frequent the local hangout - the Milkshake Shack. If either of these gangs ends up on the other’s turf, a white knuckle rumble may break out and cause chaos in the streets.

At Ryder High, the cheerleaders have formed an organization known as Campus Crew which was created to focus on reducing criminal activity in the city. The founders firmly believe that bringing the teens of Fontaine City together will solve the gang problem, so they have scheduled the Friendship Sock Hop. To their surprise, everybody that was invited has sent in an RSVP! This should be a night to remember!

The Campus Crew has promised peace and harmony for this evening of forming new friendships and working out a truce between the east and west of Fontaine City. You have been invited. This is where your story begins.

THE PURCHASED GAME.

Get ready for an exciting murder mystery party! This party is an intriguing mystery game where the players act the roles of interesting personalities while sleuthing the captivating storyline. This is an excellent choice for your next get together! PREPARING YOUR KIT: The party pack (this document) needs to be printed in advance of the party. Cut out the clue cards, slip them into envelopes labeled with the appropriate round and character for each round of the party. It is optimal to choose different colored envelopes for each round, and you can purchase the exact amount needed for your game on the http://mymysteryparty.com/props/ site in the Mystery Prop Emporium section. For economy’s sake, an alternative is to scroll the clues and fasten with a ribbon. Be sure to label the outside of each scroll with the character/round. We demonstrate how to do this in our instructional videos at www.mymysteryparty.com/videos. In these instructions, however, we will assume you are using the envelope method for each character, each round.

We send you the clues in labeled envelopes and the rest of prepared game documents –‘ready to go.’ For a chart that explains the differences between the two versions of this game: Click here or to go the Party Ready Pack page on our site to find the link.

OPTIONAL PROPS: We also offer mystery props on the My Mystery Party site in the Prop Emporium including a thunderstorm ambiance 10 minute sound wav to play in the background, crime scene barrier tape, crime scene balloons, mystery investigation pens, white face makeup for the victim, victim t-shirts, victim’s halo, chalk line body silhouette and even instrumental rap beats as a downloadable mp3 for the optional but highly suggested bonus game rap contest. We sell envelope packs in different colors for the 4 rounds. There is a ‘Do You Think You Can You Dance’ mp3 track for the Do You Think You Can Dance challenge as well. Feel free to set up a mock crime scene using the crime scene tape, body silhouette mat and evidence marker cards available at our prop store. However, only set up the crime scene after the victim is unveiled and do not use for sleuthing – it’s just for a fun effect and photo opportunity for your guests. GAME STRUCTURE: The game is organized into four rounds and is structured as follows: OPTIONAL PRE-GAME TASKS: these optional pre-game tasks are to be delivered to each guest before the party or give them to the guests as they arrive. All pre-game materials are optional and do not alter the mystery and are intended to enhance the pre-game build up for the event. These tasks are not vital to solving the mystery and omission of them does not alter the mystery in any way. Also, encourage your guests to view the Your Mystery Party - http://yourmysteryparty.com/fifties website to get them excited about your game (this has shown to decrease the number of no-shows to your party). APPETIZER (COCKTAILS 4 ADULTS) HOUR / ROUND ONE: Deliver these clues as your guests arrive. DINNER HOUR / ROUND TWO: Deliver these clues while you serve dinner (optional) to your guests. DESSERT, AND THE BIG REVEAL/ SOLUTION ROUND THREE: Deliver these clues with coffee/hot cocoa and dessert.

Note: you are not required to serve dinner, this is only suggested, and the instructions tell you ‘when’ to serve it and what to do around the time you serve it. However, this is entirely flexible! As long as you play the game in order (i.e. round 1, 2, 3) – you can’t go wrong. You also do not have to serve dessert – again, it is only a suggestion. You can skip both without a problem and just serve snacks/appetizers the entire time.

ASSIGNING CHARACTERS: you assign the character roles. Do not send your guests the invites or link to the guest pre-game site and have them choose their characters. This is far too much work, confusing for everyone, and nearly impossible for them to all choose a separate character and fill your required player spots. You assign the players from the host character list in this file. First, fill in your required spots with your most outgoing and dependable players. Then, use the optional players in any combination. They won’t know they were optional, however, so no worries. If you have time, it’s great to send a ‘save the date’ email/card at least a month before your party. That way, you can see if your intended date will work for you to have enough players. No time for that? No problem! Just text your closest invitees and ensure they’re able to attend so you can assign them to a required player. If you are hosting this for an event and will not be familiar with the guests, you will likely have more than enough players to play. INVITING GUESTS: Before the party, encourage your guests to view this mystery on the guest invite site at http://yourmysteryparty.com/fifties website and use the My Mystery Party invitations as they have each of the characters included. This way, before the party, they can get familiar with their character they are to play at the party. The invitations are located on the page where you purchased this game – click on the link that says

‘free, printable invitation’ to download. Using the Your Mystery Party site and doing the pre-game tasks in advance of the game have shown to reduce ‘no-shows’ to the party. The free, downloadable invitation is among the files you can download with your purchase. They are also located on the page where you purchased the game: http://mymysteryparty.com/1950s-greaser-murder-mystery-party/ Scroll to the center of the page under the helpful links section and click on the link that says ‘free, downloadable invitation’ to download the PDF file. Important – you must first save to your hard drive. Reopen with the most current version of Adobe Reader, or you may face issues. If you have Adobe Acrobat, you can use the text fields - fill in your information in the text fields and either print or save to your hard drive. You can email these invites to your guests to save paper costs. You will need to enter your information in the text field and save one on your hard drive for each player, changing the character to be played on each invitation.

ACCUSATIONS: after you collect the mystery investigation sheets, allow the guests to one-by-one accuse who they believe the murderer is and how they did it. Instruct them also to tell the group their guess of the murderer‘s motive. If you host an awards ceremony using the awards certificates available on the My Mystery Party site in the mystery props section, use this round as the final decision maker on the best actor/actress award.

FULL INSTRUCTIONS ARE IN THE PURCHASED GAME.

OPTIONAL AWARD CEREMONY: After the mystery is finished and the murderer has confessed, host an optional award ceremony. My Mystery Party has many award certificates that you can instantly download, or we can print them for you and ship them to you – your choice! Purchase trophies, plaques, ribbons, etc. to award your guests with – the sky is the limit! We also have costume award ribbons available, as well. It will be up to you who will receive each award. Many people may guess the murderer correctly, but you can ‘secretly’ determine the winner by whoever turns in their guess first (as per the instructions above). Don’t tell them you’re doing this, however, or you’ll have a bunch of rushed guesses! You want your guests to sleuth and have fun.

The game can be shortened by excluding the optional activities, or lengthened by adding more bonus games.

7:00 PM: Guests arrive, have their pictures made (optional) and receive a refreshment / cocktail for adults. The guests will view the guest instructions and character list while they wait for everybody to arrive. The host should build in at least a 10 minute cushion for guests to arrive late. Hey, it happens. 7:10 PM: The host reads the guest instructions to the group. It is optional to have each guest introduce their character in front of the group. Play the video game trailer on Your Mystery Party for your game &/or read the game synopsis from Your Mystery Party to the group to give the premise. 7:20 PM: The Round One envelopes are handed out and the game begins. The guests mingle and reveal the clues on their clue cards. It’s just like a normal party, but the guests remain in character and gossip about each other’s characters. The motives & storylines will start to unveil. 7:50 PM: An optional bonus game is played. Bonus activities keep the energy flowing and the guests have a blast. They are optional, but highly suggested. The players must remain in character. 8:05 PM: Optional to serve dinner. Dinner can be sit down or buffet – or even as simple as a pizza that’s delivered! Or, serve appetizers/snacks during the party. 8:35 PM: The Round Two envelopes are handed out to the guests and pre-murder clues are discussed. 8:55 PM: The victim becomes the victim and the host passes out the investigation sheets to the players. The guests interrogate each other to determine whodunit. The full story is in the player clue cards, but the guests will have to be skilled at asking the right questions of each other, etc. 9:10 PM: The forensic analysis report is revealed and within ~5-10 minutes, everybody submits their formal guess of whodunit. 9:20 PM: Optional accusation round – the guests can take turns formally accusing who they think did it, and why. You’ll be surprised at how everybody’s inner actor will surface during this activity. 9:30 PM: Dessert and coffee (optional) are served and the Round Three envelopes are handed out to the guests. The guests sit in a circle and one-by-one, the solutions are revealed by each of the guests and the murderer will confess at the conclusion of the round. The murderer is notified in their round three solution card that they are the murderer. They will not know or have any advantage over anybody of knowing whodunit before this round. *If you do not opt to have the optional players read their final solutions in front of the group, give them a few minutes to mingle and share their solutions after the murderer confesses. 9:50 PM: An optional bonus game is played. 10:10 PM: An optional award ceremony. My Mystery Party has award certificates of all kinds that you can purchase in the Prop Emporium. The host can determine who receives the awards while the bonus game is being played. Some awards are traditional and some are snarky but hilarious! 10:30 PM: Game over!

We hope you have a fabulous time at your party. If you have a fun time, please share your success story and pics (no spoilers of who the victim/murderer are) on our Facebook Page (My Mystery Party)

and we will be glad to show you our appreciation with a loyalty coupon code for your next party!

CLUES TO DISCUSS WITH OTHERS Talk to a few people about gang violence. In 1951,

there was a rumble in town and twelve people died – an equal amount from both sides of the city - so both gangs lost. Such a shame!

Character H was nominated for prom queen this year. You were the junior prom queen last year, but it’s more important to win this year. You’re going to the prom committee to find out if she’s still eligible since she just became a member of the Pink Chicks – which is a gang! Prom queens should be role models.

Talk to Character B about how you do not want Squigmon to be a D-Bird and to leave Squigmon alone (see below).

PERSONAL CLUES TO CONCEAL You heard your boyfriend, Squigmon (also a senior at

Ryder High), wants to become a D-Bird behind your back. You’re furious!

You’d do anything to be prom queen again this year. You’d not be able to stand it Character H took your title from you without being at Ryder High for four years to earn it as you did! She shouldn’t be eligible, as she’s in a hooligan street gang (the Pink Chicks.) You are very angry about this situation.

You’re the super smart Student Class Representative from Ryder High on the east side of Fontaine City. You are not affiliated with teenage street gangs, and you do what you can to stop them. You disapprove of all violence. You are here to help them make peace.

Cut out the cards, slip into envelopes that are labeled with the appropriate round and character. Pass out the envelopes to the guests to commence round two.

Character S - ROUND TWO

CLUES TO REVEAL: (PRE-MURDER CLUES) Tell Character N you’re disappointed in her for quitting

your cheer squad to become a gang member. This really makes your cheer squad look bad since you are the founders of Campus Crew – a group that is focused to clean up gang activity at Ryder High. If the rest of the student body found out that one of your squad members is now a Pink Chick, they’ll never take your club serious again. There might be more gangs popping up all over school! Character G will be responsible for this town going down the toilet!

You’ve got to do something about Character M – stop her from being a Pink Chick in any way possible. Ask around for advice how to make her quit the gang.

Ask Character Q why he doesn’t seem to get along with Character V. That surprises you, since she is such a nice girl. If he doesn’t like her, maybe you can work with him to get Character M to quit the Pink Chicks?

POST-MURDER CLUES: You brought a large handbag to this sock hop. You don’t remember if you touched the victim’s glass

tonight. You touch a lot of things – so who knows? You are a straight A honor student. You plan on being

a chemist one day. You’ve been around the victim a lot tonight. You

noticed the victim got three refills on their milkshake! Pay close attention to the forensic report once the

detective releases it to the group!
