Page 3: EAST MEON PARISH PLAN 2013 Update of 2005 Parish Plan Presentation...River Meon Q 8 – The The lack of flow and the overall management of the river and its environment are of concern

• E.H.D.C.‘Local Plan’ in development / South Downs Nat. Park a reality

• All recommendations in the 2005 Parish Plan were pursued, and where feasible actioned

• 2005 Plan Reviewed – omit what is no longer relevant

• Determine continued relevance/importance of core issues

• The Questionnaire was broadly phrased for conciseness

• Many areas identified in the 2005 Plan are still important

• Not all areas of Village life are the Parish Council’s responsibility

• We must be realistic in our expectations of what can be achieved

• Further consultation on existing and new issues/ideas

Updating The Parish Plan

Some Feedback To Date - 1

• Please TRY to maintain village as a RURAL area - not a suburb - light pollution and signage contribute to this

• Parking outside Almshouses can get very horrendous and dangerous. More car park signs could help

• Parking on corners is dangerous viz near the shop, also on pavements. Large vans also present a hazard when parked overnight where children play. Could the village car park be utilised?

• I am disabled and it would be nice to have a notice at the bottom of Glenthorne Meadow to say parking for residents only

• No more signs!

• Being unemployed for over a year now I never see anything about local job opportunities

• Noise: would it be possible to circulate a request that 'strimmers' do not start strimming too early or continue too late?

Page 6: EAST MEON PARISH PLAN 2013 Update of 2005 Parish Plan Presentation...River Meon Q 8 – The The lack of flow and the overall management of the river and its environment are of concern

Some Feedback To Date - 2

• Would be nice to replace street light with more appropriate style and lighting effect

• The working parents of East Meon desperately need a before and after school child care facility in the village

• Phone Box: currently an eyesore - could it not be painted? I would do it!

• The Olde Forge: we notice it has long lain empty and has now been boarded up. What a fantastic site for a village tea room

• When we moved here in June 201 we were welcomed warmly. We feel we are lucky to be part of a village where community plays a very strong part

• If only we could make more of the shop….

• We strongly believe that any more housing development would destroy the character of the village and thus would grow beyond the village community as we know it today. The village has had it fill of development over the last 15 years

Page 7: EAST MEON PARISH PLAN 2013 Update of 2005 Parish Plan Presentation...River Meon Q 8 – The The lack of flow and the overall management of the river and its environment are of concern

Some Feedback To Date - 3

• Future building projects should be of a small and unobtrusive nature.

• No point in building affordable houses if there is no local work for people This only encourages people who do not intend to work

• Social housing is needed for residents/families of EAST Meon only. No more so-called affordable housing

• I do feel the River Authority could do more in keeping the village river course tidier

• I don't drive and having the early bus service stopped has severely reduced my chances of getting work outside a 3-5 mile radius. I would happily work outdoors in any weather!

• It would be nice if people are aware of how much more restricting the cuts in buses are. If you are in town with a car maybe keep a look out for villagers who are either distractedly rushing for the bus or hanging around wondering how to pass the time

Page 8: EAST MEON PARISH PLAN 2013 Update of 2005 Parish Plan Presentation...River Meon Q 8 – The The lack of flow and the overall management of the river and its environment are of concern

Some Feedback To Date - 4

• There should be a service that leaves EM between 8am and 8.45 to Petersfield, and a later bus service to and from Petersfield especially Saturday pm

• Please sort buses out!

• Broadband internet IS available. Businesses now need higher speeds. We need much better mobile phone signal particularly 3G

• We do need safety in the village - a 20mph would be good

• We do need safety in the village - a 20mph would be good. Also I know we have large lorries through but I think they need to be warned of the narrow roads and bends that have to be deal with

• We do not need more traffic calming. Buriton has much traffic calming - it is not in keeping with the village. Agricultural traffic has enough trouble negotiating parked cars

Page 9: EAST MEON PARISH PLAN 2013 Update of 2005 Parish Plan Presentation...River Meon Q 8 – The The lack of flow and the overall management of the river and its environment are of concern

Some Feedback To Date - 5

• Living in Workhouse Lane we think there should be signs (Unsuitable for Heavy Goods Vehicles) to cut down on unnecessary traffic

• The surface on High Street is very bad - we have tripped over deep ruts - once bruising my face badly - urgent filling is needed

• Bad roads discourage speeding. Wide, smooth, straight roads greatly encourage speeding

• Why not encourage team opportunities? Develop sense of belonging,

• I feel more than enough effort has been put into non-team recreational activities. How about more team activities?

• This has always been a difficult and contentious subject. Much more detail and discussion required on this suggestion

• Personally I love adventure playgrounds created for enjoyment

• A very good idea but must be sited well away from houses

Page 10: EAST MEON PARISH PLAN 2013 Update of 2005 Parish Plan Presentation...River Meon Q 8 – The The lack of flow and the overall management of the river and its environment are of concern

Some Feedback To Date - 6

• I keep noticing dog poop bags (used) hanging in hedges due to lack of bins?

• There is much litter around the village. I have already had the Council tidy up Pidham Hill Layby but it is filling up with rubbish again

• The Meon Matters magazine was lovely, our friends and family were all impressed by it. It helped us to make friends and meet people as it had details of events, village hall classes, etc.

• Meon Matters is much too pretentious. It would save a lot of money if non-glossy paper was used and there were fewer colour photos

• Meon Matters is a wonderful magazine and it is vital that it is enthusiastically supported
