4 Maintenance and Troubleshooting

4.1 Safety Warning on Maintenance

1. Be sure to turn off main power supply

4.2 Regular Maintenance and Cleaning

1. Regularly check for loose screws

2. Lubricate moving parts of the machine on a regular basis

3. Clean the surface of the machine

4. On a daily basis clean off the blades

5. If the machine will not be used for a long period of time, the blade should be oiled to

protect it

4.3 Troubleshooting

1. If the tape is not centered on the box; adjust the position of the tape. (Fig 4-1)

8 Adjusting the Tape Head

This walkthrough teaches you how to adjust your machines tape head. Each tape head can adjust from 2” to 3” tape or from 3” to 2” tape. This will also explain how to center the tape on your box seam. Tools needed for this adjustment are as follows:

1. 4mm Hex Head Wrench2. A box to test your progress

Before performing any maintenance on your machine, push the emergency stop button and turn the power to the machine off. This is to ensure your hands do not get caught if the machine were to start running.

Figure 1

First thing to do is loosen the tape wheel lock by turning it in a counter clockwise direction (See Figure 1). This is the knob in the middle of your tape roll that locks your tape onto the tape head. After just one or two turns, you should be able to slide the tape back and forth.

Figure 2 Next, you will need to take the 4mm hex wrench and loosen the center hold bolt that locks the position of the tape (See Figure 2). To do this, turn the bolt in a counter clockwise direction. Just loosen the bolt, do not take it out. Depending on how much the tape needs to move will depict how much the bolt is loosened. Figure 3 After the tape is loose, on the opposite side there will be a threaded washer back plate that can be spun with a couple fingers (See Figure 3).

Now that everything is loose, it’s time to adjust. Turning the back plate in a counter clockwise direction will move the tape to the left, while turning it clockwise will move it right. If, when turning the back plate clockwise, it starts to get tight; loosen the center bolt with the 4mm hex wrench just a little more to allow the tape to move further. Once the tape is in the desired location, tighten the center bolt with the 4mm hex wrench and then the tape wheel lock by hand (just snug, the wheel lock does not need to be extremely tight).

After everything is tight again and your hands are out of the machine, return power to the machine, release the e-stop and turn it on. Run a box through the machine 3-5 times to allow for the tape to correct as it comes off the roll. If the tape is not where you would like it, repeat these steps until desired location is acquired.
