Welcome to Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD!

We are so glad that you have joined our EMS family; you are an incredible addition to your campus and our community. This school year promises to be exciting, challenging, and rewarding!

As with any new employment opportunity there will be some required training that you must attend. Those have been listed for you below.

Face-to-Face Training

T-TESS is the appraisal system Eagle Mountain Saginaw ISD currently uses for teacher appraisals. One of the legal requirements of the system is the provision of a face-to-face orientation session for all teachers. Your campus will conduct this training on Tuesday, August 8. If you and have previously attended a T-TESS orientation and have been appraised under the T-TESS system, you do not need to attend this training; you will receive a refresher the following week.

Thinking Maps training will also take place on Tuesday, August 8. If you have already attended Thinking Maps training and can provide a certificate of completion, then you are excused from this training. Please fill out the attached waiver form and return it to your campus principal.

Professional Learning Communities, Fundamental 5, and Rigor, Relevance, & Engagement are all pieces of the EMS ISD instructional philosophy. You will receive training on these topics on August 9 at your home campus. Several campuses have decided to come together to provide this training, so be sure to check with your principal for the exact location and time.

Online Training

Sheltered Instruction is also required for all teachers at EMS ISD. Because they are provided online, you can complete them at your leisure. You can easily access the courses through Gateway, at http://www.texasgateway.com/ . There are three courses in that series you should complete. They are:

1. ELL Foundations: Second Language Acquisition2. ELL Foundations: Effective Instructional Strategies and Routines3. ELPS Academy OR Implementing the ELPS (subject area of your choice)

Compliance Trainings are state required trainings that must be completed by every employee. EMS ISD has bundled these into an easy to access format, and it should take you approximately two hours to complete. You will find directions included in this packet, and you should complete the training before September 15, 2017 in order to be in compliance.

Science Teachers are required to take an online science safety course through TEA. Please sign up using the links below:
