From the Principal’s Desk…

On Friday, September 16th, ESE will celebrate COLLEGE COLORS DAY! It’s never too early to talk to our children about going to college.

All students are encouraged to wear a shirt from a college or university. It could represent a family member’s alma mater, the college the student hopes to attend one day, or just a favorite college team.

Like last year, we will be listing ALL the represented colleges and universities. We hope everyone will participate!

Mrs. Maldonado

The ESE Choir is gearing up for the Fall Semester of 2011! Last year was wonderful and

we want to keep the momentum going for this year!

The Choir is open to all 4th & 5th grade students. This is an after-school program that will function the whole school year. Students will have a chance to be exposed to different types of music and have a

chance to perform in front of audiences, which helps build confidence.

There will be voice assessments. Your child’s voice assessment date will be based on their last name as follows:

Last Names A-M: Monday, September 19th Last Names N-Z: Tuesday, September 20th

If you are unable to make it to your assigned day, make-ups will be on Friday, September 23rd.

Voice Assessments will be held in the Music Room from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. More information will be coming soon ~ Mr. Whorton

Eagle Notes... REMINDER!! Permission Slips & Money for the

5th Grade Field Trip to the Houston Museum of Natural Science

are due by September 19th. $7.50/student & $7.50/chaperone

If you wish to chaperone, you must contact your child’s teacher.

Third grader Morgan W. is this week’s RECYCLE ROCK STAR!

She encouraged her family to sort and save “BAGS” of used items that we will be able to creatively

UPCYCLE this year in Art. Thanks to Morgan and her Family!

Many thanks to all our incredible ESE students and staff for contributing their used plastic bottles for our GARDEN PROJECT.

We do NOT need any more bottles at this time. We ARE collecting all types and colors of

plastic bottle tops.

Mrs. Gower and I would like to thank our awesome ESE PTO volunteers who helped us prepare

for the first week of Art. You ladies ROCK!

We would like to show our appreciation to Mr. Tom Holland, our

AUGUST VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH! Thanks, Mr. Tom, for all of your hard work.

A book has been donated to the library in your honor.

We would also like to say THANK YOU to all of the volunteers that helped to make the K.I.S.S. Luncheon a huge success! If you were there, you know how huge it was and we received several compliments on how

smoothly things ran. We couldn’t have done it without our VOLUNTEERS!

Thank you to everyone who became a member of the PTO and joined at Flight School. The winner of our membership give-away basket, with over $120 in gift cards, was Sonny & Stephanie

Garcia. Congratulations! Thank you, also, to our local businesses who donated the gift cards: Culver’s; Spring Creek BBQ; Christopher’s Italian Restaurant; and AMC Movies!

There is still time to join the PTO ~ it is ONLY $5.00 per family! Our PTO does many great things, all year long, for ESE and all of our students. Support our school and join PTO today.

Simply fill out the form below and send it in with your child.

Thanks for your support! Together Our Eagles Soar Higher! For membership questions, please contact Romi Farias at [email protected]

Rebate Program Updates...

Thanks to all of you who have sent your box tops in. We are on our way to a great start! Please continue to clip, collect and send in your box tops either in baggies or you can use the collection sheets that are

sent home. Did you know you can print your own sheets? Just go to http://www.btfe.com. We will have an up-to-date count in

next week’s newsletter and we will also have a new receptacle for collection in the commons area. Please keep in mind that the box tops you send in must be current. Unfortunately, a lot of them we

have received have expired this past June.

Please save SunnyD Labels for our school as well (you will find below an ex-ample of what we need to submit). Even if your child’s teacher is not par-ticipating, we will give them to a teacher who is saving them for their class. The program is called the SunnyD Book Spree, which donates 20 books when a class sends in 20 SunnyD labels! You can find the official

rules at http://www.sunnyd.com. Eligible products include:

Bottles: 16 oz, 20 oz, 48 oz, 64 oz, 67.6 oz, 96 oz and 128 oz; 6 Pack Shrink-Wraps: 6.75 oz and 11.3 oz; 8 Pack Shrink-Wraps: 6.75 oz; 12 Pack Shrink-Wraps: 6.75 oz. and 16 oz; 24 Pack Shrink-Wraps:

6.75 oz and 11.3 oz; and 12 Pack Cardboard Case: 6.75 oz (bottles) and 12 oz (cans).

THEY WILL ONLY ACCEPT CAPS FROM THESE ITEMS

Keep sending in My Coke Rewards codes (a 12-digit alpha-numeric code) found under the caps of bottles and inside the packaging of all 12-pack to 32-pack cases of participating Coca-Cola products.

To date, our school has 11,539 points!

Thank you for your support of these important programs!

If you have any questions, please email Lupe Lopez-Ruiz at [email protected].

Happy Clipping!
