Do you Like to Sing? Play a Musical Instrument? Choir Rehearsals begin Thursday, September 23

Our parish is abundantly blessed with musical talent. Please consider this a personal invitation to YOU. Please consider trying out one of our choirs at Ss. Cyril and Methodius this fall. No musical training is necessary, and singers of all backgrounds and skill levels are welcome. As COVID related restrictions have lifted, we would love for this fall to be a new dawn for our choirs. We sing a variety of styles of sacred music, from traditional to modern. All we sing is dedicated to God’s Glory and is appropriate for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

The 7:30AM choir has traditionally sung for Sundays throughout the year at our Sunday daybreak Mass. We’re trying to gauge interest for the 7:30AM choir on Sundays. This has been a crucial group of singers for our parish and I would love for this choir to continue singing for Holy Mass. Rehearsals will be at 6:00PM on Thursdays, with warmup at 7:00AM on Sunday prior to Mass. The “Christus Regnat” choir sings at 9:30AM on Sundays at Holy Mass, as well as for special liturgies throughout the year. We rehearse during the week immediately following the 7:00PM Mass on Thursdays (about 7:45PM) and also at 9:00AM Sunday immediately before Mass (especially for those are not able to attend the evening rehearsals during the week). Please do not let scheduling for evening rehearsals be a barrier to participation, and talk to me if you have any questions. The Children’s Choir sings at the 9:30AM Mass on the second Sunday of the month, and rehearses following the 9:30AM Mass on Sundays. I am still looking for volunteer (or volunteers) to coordinate this group – this would be a great opportunity for some of our young adults who are interested in music to take a leadership role, but by no means does this need to be a young person. Rehearsals will begin for the adult choirs on September 23, so now is the perfect time to prayerfully decide if this ministry might be a good fit for you! We also have opportunities for individuals to volunteer to assist with maintaining our music libraries. Thank you for all you do to make music at Ss. Cyrils beautiful.

If you are interested in joining us, please contact either the: Parish Office, at (586) 586-726-6911 or Joe Long, our Music Minister, at (810) 882-1806, [email protected]

Daily Prayer for Priests: O Almighty Eternal God, look upon the face of Thy Christ, and for the love of Him who is the Eternal High Priest, have pity on Thy priests. Remember, O most compassionate God, that they are but weak and frail human beings. Stir up in them the grace of their vocation which is in them by the imposition of the bishop’s hands. Keep them close to Thee, lest the Enemy prevail against them, so that they may never do anything in the slightest degree unworthy of their sublime vocation. O Jesus, I pray Thee for Thy faithful and fervent priests; for Thy unfaithful and tepid priests; for Thy priests laboring at home or abroad in distant mission fields; for Thy tempted priests; for Thy lonely and desolate priests; for Thy young priests; for Thy aged priests; for Thy sick priests, for Thy dying priests; for the souls of Thy priests in Purgatory. But above all I commend to Thee the priests dearest to me; the priest who baptized me; the priests who absolved me from my sins; the priests at whose Masses I assisted, and who gave me Thy Body and Blood in Holy Communion; the priests who taught and instructed me, or helped and encouraged me; all the priests to whom I am indebted in any other way, particularly N. O Jesus, keep them all close to Thy Heart, and bless them abundantly in time and in eternity. Amen. IMPRIMATUR: +Most Rev. Robert C. Morlino, Bishop Emeritus of Madison, September 6, 2018

DO YOU KNOW ANYONE WHO HAS NOT RECEIVED 1st HOLY COMMUNION? WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT WHAT THE CATHOLIC CHURCH TEACHES?

If you have never been Baptized, Confirmed, received First Holy Communion, and want to; or if you have, but just want to know more about what the Catholic Church teaches, now is your time to act!

The course provides a glimpse into the truths of Catholicism, is hands-on and teaches the beauty of the Catholic Faith. It is open to anyone who feels the Lord calling them into full communion with the Catholic Church, the un-baptized who have heeded God’s call to convert to the Christian religion through Christ’s Church, and to those who are already baptized and Confirmed Catholics but who desire to know the Catholic Faith more in-depth and thoroughly. Classes will be held every Thursday, beginning September 16, from 7:00PM - 9:00PM.
