Mens Ministry Prayer Breakfast
On Oct 22-8:30am, WLBC 2nd floor,
we are having a prayer breakfast at
the church. We will have good old
fashioned breakfast food...no quiche
at this breakfast. The theme is: Are
You Living the Christian Lifestyle?
A man and woman had their car sto-
len one night. A few days later it
was returned with a full tank of gas,
no damage and a note saying we
are sorry we took your car. The cou-ple was so thankful they went to
church on Sunday and put a little
extra in the offering plate. They
came home only to find their home
had been robbed and everything
was gone. Had the couple known
they would be robbed wouldnt they
have stayed to defend their belong-
ings? Had they known that the theft
of the car would start a snowballeffect, wouldnt they set the car
alarm? Had they known wouldnt
they? How about you? If you knew
when Jesus was returning, wouldnt
you pray more, study more and wit-
ness more? Matthew 24:43-44
elicits a powerful question; So when
Jesus comes what will you be doing?

Grocery bills are rising through
the roof. Food banks are runningshort of donations. And food short-ages are causing sporadic riots in
poor countries through the world.
Youd never know it if you sawwhat was ending up in your landfill.
As it turns out, Americans waste an
astounding amount of food anestimated 27 percent of the food
available for consumption, accord-
ing to a government study and ithappens at the supermarket, in
restaurants and cafeterias and inyour very own kitchen. It works
out to about a pound of food everyday for every American.

Common Thread
Christ was common to all
in love, in teaching, in
tender consolation, in
generous gifts, in merciful
forgiveness. His soul and
his body, his life and his
death and his ministry
were, and are, common
to all. His sacraments and
his gifts are common to
all. Christ never took any
food or drink, nor any-
thing that his body need-
ed, without intending by
it the common good of all
those who shall be saved,
even unto the last day.

cery money to the World
Hunger Fund? That maysound like a big request but
if we dont over buy thesenext four weeks for our own
homes, we can give that ex-tra money we dont spend?
It seems like there aremainly two reasons why we
over buy. First, we buy in bulk
to save on cost per pound/
item. Second, we dont want tohave to go shopping again,
wasting gas and our time, sowe buy plenty to choose from.
Inevitably, these two reasonscan cause us to have to throwfood out or have extra of
something that we are tired ofeating. So we undermine ourown plans to save.

Deacon of the Week: Micah Camarata 434.426.3312
The Red-faced UsherWhen an elderly woman asked a church usher to seat her close to the pulpit, he tried to talkher out of it. If you sit up front, you wont be able to sleep, he said. She looked the ushersquare in the face and asked, Do you know who I am? No, I dont, he replied. Well, stating firmly, Im the preachers mother. Fully embarrassed, the usher asked, Do you
know who I am? No, she said. Good! whispered the fellow. Sit anywhere you want.
Many times we are asked, Who is my
deacon?
To help you, we will list the Deacon of the Week
and his list of families in the WLBC Bulletin
ENewsletter. There will be a complete list posted
on the bulletin board near the church office. This
complete list is alphabetical by your last name.
We hope this will help you know who your deacon
is for the year. If you have any questions, please
feel free to contact the church office.

An Old Testament prophet wrote the following words
about Jesus: He was oppressed, and he was afflicted,
yet he did not open his mouth; like a lamb that is led to
the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is
silent, so he did not open his mouth.
Who wrote those words?
A. Amos; B. Jonah; C. Jeremiah; D. Isaiah
