Institution

St. Aloysius College the pioneer educational institution in the town as well as the state, is affiliated to the RaniDurgavati Vishwavidalaya , Jabalpur. St. Aloysius College was founded in 1951 and is situated in the JabalpurCantonment area. It is a Christian College owned and established by the Catholic Diocese of Jabalpur, which

belongs to the minority community of Catholics and is administered by the said Diocese through the St.Aloysius College Society. The college is named after St. Aloysius Gonzaga, the Patron Saint of the college,

who harboured a burning desire to serve God and his fellowmen. Drawing inspiration from the life andteachings of Jesus Christ, who came into this world that we may have life and life in abundance (Jn. 10:10)

and that we may learn to live as children of one loving Father, the Foundation Society made a meagrebeginning by starting St. Aloysius College in 1951 In 2004, the college introduced B.Ed with the objective tohelp pupil teachers to achieve professional standards of work; to encourage personal growth and inculcationof moral and spiritual values and to develop in them a sense of responsibility; love and understanding. B.Ed.course is a two year Graduate Programme, affiliated to Rani Durgavati Vishwavidalaya and National Councilfor Teacher Education (NCTE), recognized by Government of India. The department started with an intake

capacity of 100 students. The department provides advanced facilities in learning through ICT Lab;Psychology Lab, Curriculum laboratory, Art and Craft Resource Centre & Health and Physical Education

Resource Centre .All these laboratories are equipped with necessary apparatus and equipment in keepingwith the guidelines of NCTE. Library has very wide rich collection of 4777 Books, 917 Reference Books, 28Encyclopaedias, 76 Dictionaries and 25 Journals. . The department holds a reputation for unrelenting hardwork in the field of publication. The departmental members have published 20 and 69 research papers innational and international journals and has contributed 66 chapters in edited books and participated and

presented papers in National and International seminars and conferences. The departmental members arerecipient of fifteen national level awards. A research ambience has been created in the department as the

faculty members have taken up seven minor research projects. Value education classes, mentoring and dailyassemblies are conducted to build the emotional and spiritual quotient of the students. The department haspublications of its own like newsletter-Edusphere and magazine-PRAGYA. Education is an amalgamation of

knowledge, sports, personality, talents and skills. Keeping this thought in mind department celebratesdifferent national and international days. The department plays a cascading role in building the personality ofinnumerable students who have brought laurels to the college by participating in community outreach activity

like literacy drive, developing health and hygiene awareness, contributing to environmental well-being,campaign against social ills and service to community learning centre. The urge for wisdom, which is seededand cultivated into our learners, goes on amongst students even after leaving the institution. Being mentors,

teachers counsel and guide the students for their further education and career. B.Ed students are trained witha motive to be an efficient and capable future teachers.
