History ofthe
Institution
The Bombay Teachers’ Training College was established in April 1969 as a grant-in aid, linguistic (Sindhi)minority, English Medium,co-educational institute, affiliated to the University of Mumbai, by the Hyderabad(Sind) National Collegiate Board. It was the vision of the founders of the H.(S.)N.C. Board, ‘Vidyasagar’ latePrincipal K.M. Kundnani of K.C. College and a legal luminary Barrister Hotchand G. Advani who realised theneed and importance of teacher education. Both these eminent personalities played a pioneering role in the
field of higher education in Mumbai. Beginning with conventional degree courses, the H.(S.)N.C. Boardcontinued to set up institutions of specialized learning. Today, the Board manages a chain of professional, vocational and job oriented courses in various disciplines, and is one of the largest educational corpus in
Mumbai& Thane District. Our founder Principal Dr. N. R. Parasnis, initiated the work of college in four roomsof the the K. C. College building at Churchgate in April 1969 and later in Cuffe Parade, Colaba in 1971 . Dr.
B.P. Lulla who served as Principal from 1973 to 1990, has played a significant role in shaping the personalityand destiny of this institution. The college shifted to its current premises at Apollo Bunder in May 1991. Dr.
K.T. Bhatia and Dr. M.M. Lulla took the college to even greater heights. Since 2004 the present PrincipalDr.Mintu Sinha has provided strong leadership and firmly established it as an institution of international
repute. During her tenure, the college was accredited ‘A’ grade in 2004 and re-accredited “A’ grade in 2011.With a humble beginning in 1969, BTTC has become a resource centre in education due to its prominent
achievements in teacher preparation, in-service training, research, extension services, co-curricular activitiesand add-on courses. The alumni of the college are well-placed in esteemed educational institutions both
