Baptisms in Nigeria by Anameti

Today I want to share a Christmas Carol by Josh Groban, “What Child is this.”

What child is this Who lay to rest; On Mary’s lap is sleeping; Whom angels greet with anthems sweet; While shepherds watch are keeping. So bring him incense, gold and myrrh; Come peasant king to own him; The King of Kings salvation brings; Let loving hearts enthrone him. This, this is Christ the King; Whom shepherds guard and angels sing; Haste, haste to bring him laud; The Babe, the Son of Mary O raise, raise a song on high; His mother sings a lullaby; Joy, oh joy for Christ is born; The Babe, the son of Mary. This, this is Christ the King; Whom shepherds guard and angels sing; Haste, haste to bring him laud; The Babe, the Son of Mary

This raises a very good question for each of us to consider. What child is this? The refrain has a strong statement with the answer, “This, this is Christ the King!!!” If that is really so, and I believe it is, then the ap-propriate response is found in that 2 stanza, “ Let loving hearts enthrone him.” I love the festive music and lyrics of the songs that talk of joy and peace. I especially love the lyrics that honor Jesus for who he is. The trick is to live out these songs. It is easy to get caught up into life and let slip these truths. Since our King does not behead us when we fail him, it is easy to take him for granted. Let’s honor Christ, the King. –Blessings, Gene

This year’s Bible Bowl book is Luke. There are 24 chapters. We started study/practice December 3rd in the teen room. We will cover 2 chapters each week. We will meet Dec. 3, 10, 17, then start again Jan 7. We can do BB from 6:30 - 7:15. Holly will work on memory verses. Puppets will practice 7:15 - 8:00. If kids want to work on T-shirt designs ( Jan 12 deadline), that can be before 7:15 also. If you plan for your kids to attend the convention via Northside, they need to be in Bible Bowl. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Lynn or Holly Shinsky. The Tucson convention is April 3-5. Pup-pets will start in January. Pre-convention deadline is Feb. 2. (Service challenge, etc.)
