About usLiviero is a large privately owned construction company based in South
Africa with its head office located in Johannesburg - Gauteng and regional
offices in Durban - Kwa Zulu Natal, Polokwane – Limpopo and newly
established Gaborone - Botswana.
Liviero was founded by the late Giosue Liviero in a small town outside
Venice, Italy called Mirano in 1955. This later became Giosue Liviero
Builders in 1967 in Zimbabwe and has in 2008 celebrated its 25th year in
South Africa.
The Liviero Group is comprised of a few hugely diversified construction
entities generating an annual turnover of around R1.4 Billion. Through
these various divisions, the group is able to provide a one stop
construction solution for its clients due to its specializing in all aspects of
Construction namely in the Civil Engineering and Building fields.
With a highly experienced Directorate and dynamic teams of managers
complimented by a dedicated group (Building, Civils & Plant) workforce of
around 1800 people, Liviero continues to strive for excellence, delivering
quality products on time and within the required budget.
These entities are substantially backed by the Groups’ impressive array of
modern plant and equipment valued in excess of R250m. The Groups’
philosophy has always been that of having the right tools for the job and
thereby ensuring the greatest amount of efficiencies both for the
respective divisions and clients alike.
BuildingSince its inception in 1983, G. Liviero & Son Building (Pty) Ltd has
established a reputation for reliability and technical excellence in all
aspects of construction. Working in both private and public sectors, the
Company has delivered successfully in the industrial, commercial and
residential segments of the industry.
The Company is responsible for the construction of office blocks,
warehouses, shopping centres, institutional buildings, apartment blocks
and residential complexes, design and build solutions, alterations and
additions and more recently sports stadia. The Company has successfully
delivered over 2600 middle and upmarket residential units over the last
few years.
The Company is the biggest of the operating divisions, contributing about
two thirds of the annual turnover. The Company was the first privately
owned building company to achieve a 9GB grading from the Construction
Industry Development Board. This is the highest rating a Building
Company can obtain.
Among the company’s highlights is the completion of Mooirivier Mall
R400m and the construction of the R300m Zimbali Fairmont Hotel and
Garden Suites and the R407m Upgrade to the Royal Bafokeng Sports
Palace for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
The Company excelled at the KZN Master Builders Association
Excellence Awards in 2008, scooping “Highly commended apartments”,
“Joint Winner Supreme Builder of the Year” and “Winner — commercial
building of the year”.
Liviero CivilsSince its inception in 2005, Liviero Civils (Pty) Ltd has already
become a serious player in the construction market. The Company
has endeavoured to recruit superior expertise from the industry,
creating a powerful mix of experience and dynamic youth.
This strategy has culminated in Liviero Civils’ successful involvement
in the construction of the Gautrain Stations at Rosebank and
Sandton, the Soccer City 2010 World Cup Stadium upgrade as well
as the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Projects. Liviero Civils have
successfully completed contracts across various Civil Engineering
disciplines. These include roads and earthworks, bridges, concrete
reservoirs, mine infrastructure and various other aspects of civil
engineering.
As a shareholder in the Siyavaya Highway Construction Joint
Venture, Liviero Civils is part of the construction team working on the
Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project. The Client for this project,
the South African National Roads Agency Limited, has awarded
Works Packages A and E to the Siyavaya Joint Venture. The
combined value of these contracts are in excess of R3 billion. Liviero
Civils currently enjoys a CIDB rating of 9CE.
The Company is registered with the South African Federation of Civil
Engineering Contractors and has representation on the Enterprise
Development, Training, Human Resources and Economic Affairs

BEE PolicyThe Company has an Ideal Minimal Internal Affirmative Procurement
target of 40% per contract.
Liviero Building (Pty) Ltd and Liviero Civils (Pty) Ltd have a 30% BEE
shareholding in the respective companies. In terms of the DTIs
BBBEE scorecard, the Building Company is graded as a Level 3
contributor recognizing a procurement score of 110%. Liviero Civils
is currently a Level 4 contributor thus ensuring procurement
recognition of 100%.
SafetyAt Liviero the safety of our employees is non-negotiable. We believe
that working safely must be a way of life. This is demonstrated by
numerous milestones being achieved on various projects. Our
Pilansberg Platinum Mine project achieved 750 000 LTI free hours in
May 2009.
We are committed to ensuring that our operations comply with the
Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Compensation for
Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act, Environmental legislation,
the Mine Health and Safety Act, and the Minerals Act and
Regulations.
Furthermore, sites in the Liviero Group are audited by external
service providers. This provides an unbiased and independent audit
on health and safety.

Plant
Over the past 25 years the Company has consistently invested in
formwork and scaffolding and has always kept up to date with the
latest and most cutting edge formwork technology. The Company’s
current inventory consists of approximately 40 000 m2 of formwork
and 130 000 m2 of access scaffolding.
The Company has a vast inventory of plant and equipment that
service both our own Building and Civils operations. These items of
plant and equipment are also hired to the external market and are
renowned for their service and reliability.
The Company’s Kyalami workshop was built in 2006 based on
Mercedes Benz dealership standards. Mercedes Benz accreditation
was awarded in March 2007. The workshop has six service/repair
bays and is equipped with a 5 ton overhead crane, wash bay and an
automated oils dispensing and removal system.
