E-Flash SeriesElectronic Door Locks
Kaba Australia has been supplying security solutions to the Australian commercial market since 2001.
Kaba Australia’s locks, high security key systems and electronic access control systems are today being used in hospitals, military sites, educational facilities, correctional facilities, court houses, police stations and commercial premises across Australia.
With our proven experience securing even the most sensitive of commercial sites, we can be relied upon to secure your home. To ensure secure and convenient home security,
we have taken the best features of electronic access control and created the Kaba E-Flash Series.
The Kaba E-Flash Series is comprised of two styles of electronic door locks which have been specifically designed for residential use.
The E-Flash 680 grants entry via either proximity card or pin code, while the E-Flash 780 is operated by either fingerprint or pin code. Both types of electronic door locks have been designed with the home owner in mind and, as such, are not only secure and reliable, but also incredibly simple to use.
Whether you are building a new home, renovating, or simply wish to update your current door locks, the Kaba E-Flash range is the perfect choice. These locks can be fitted to a new door or retrofitted to an existing door.
The lock itself is made from quality construction materials including a stainless steel mortice lock, ensuring a durable, high strength locking system. A mortice lock is designed to fit inside a pocket of the door, making it essential to have a professional locksmith install the E-Flash lock.
The main advantage of a mortice lock is that it doesn’t distract from the overall appeal of the lock as it allows the beautiful face plate and lever to be the dominant features, rather than the locking mechanism.
Although a professional locksmith is required to install the lock, the lock itself is incredibly simple to use, responding to the presentation of a registered proximity card or a registered fingerprint (depending on the model) or to the registered password (pin code), which is set by you.
The registration of the pin code, along with the proximity card or fingerprint all takes place during the set up process, which has been made extremely user friendly thanks to E-Flash’s voice guided set up feature, which will talk you through the set up process step by step.
The answer to home security
Another important feature of the E-Flash range of products is its fire rated status. The E-Flash range complies with the Australian Standard AS1905-1-2005 Part 1, which refers to Fire Resistant Door Sets. To be awarded this standard, our E-Flash locks have been independently tested on a fire resistant door. The results prove that the E-Flash product will not compromise the effectiveness of a fire resistant door.
When safety is key
The set up feature begins as soon as you install batteries into the E-Flash lock. Four standard AA batteries are included in your E-Flash pack, which based on typical usage, should last a year. Set up will only take a few minutes and once complete your new lock is ready for use. As the lock runs off battery power, there is a low battery alert function to let you know when it is time to change the batteries.
If the batteries are not changed before they fail completely, then the manual override key will need to be used in order to enter the premises. Alternatively, there is an emergency battery backup terminal where you can connect a 9V battery in order to temporarily power up the unit.
Your home, your choice
Both the E-Flash 680 and the E-Flash 780 contain two models, the Egress model and the Deadlock model. The Egress model has been designed for use in apartments and features a single locking function, meaning that the door can always be opened from the inside, even when locked to those on the outside. The Deadlock model meets insurance company preferences for a residential property as it allows the door to be locked to those on the inside as well as the outside. To activate this deadlock function, the user must use the touchpad on the outside of the door, making it virtually impossible to lock oneself inside. To ensure that nobody else becomes locked inside, the Deadlock model comes with an internal key override, additional to the standard external key override. Both models also come with a privacy function, which can be set by pressing the open/lock button on the inside face plate. The privacy function does not allow anybody to enter through the door from the outside, even if they have a registered password or registered proximity card/fingerprint.

Every family is different, yet there are commonalities to be found, such as the need for a locking system designed to accommodate all members of the family. With all of our E-Flash locks capable of holding up to 100 user registrations (either proximity cards or fingerprints), there are more than enough for the whole family no matter what its size. In fact, there are enough registrations to allow multiple cards or fingerprints to be recorded, giving you the flexibility of leaving a spare card in the car or being able to unlock the door with either hand.
There are also optional accessories available to add to the convenience of the system. The optional wireless door remote control allows you to open the door with the simple touch of a button. The remote works from both outside and inside the home, allowing the user to open the door when arriving home or to open it for visitors without having to touch the handle. The EF680 also has an optional fob accessory, which can be attached to everyday items, such as a school bag or mobile phone case, making them convenient to carry and hard to lose. Better still in the case of a lost proximity card (or optional fob), the card can be easily removed from the system and a new card registered, making this option perfect for the school aged members of the family. Even if a card is lost or your fingerprint compromised (e.g. burn or cut), you can still gain entry by using the password (pincode) override via the digital touch pad.
No matter which options you choose, the real convenience comes with not having to fumble with your keys, making entry a breeze regardless of what you are carrying.
Convenience for the whole family
All units come with an external override key, while the deadlock models also come with an internal override key.
A digital touch pad gives the convenience of entry via password (pin code) in the case of a lost card or for use by guests.
Optional accessories add to the convenience of the system.
