I must take this time to thank all of those who gave their time, energy and sweat to make the landscape project a reality. First and foremost, Breen Emery who spearheaded this project from start to current time. Dick Cross, who put up with me through my frustration days. Ed Migdal, for his expertise and being the workhorse he always is. Lee Taylor (City of Escondido) and his team of experts for their input. Denny Martin, for sharing his knowledge of the property and picking up a shovel. Roger Fannin, who figured out how we could irrigate with a minimum of range interruption. And here is to all who came up to help: Tonil Cash, Rich Lippucci, Jon Sherwood, Annette Sherwood, Tim Phillpott, Paul Hendrikson, William Crabb, Tony Pack, Quan Nguyen, Ryan Huttonmater, Mike Freet, Chris Sutton, Alonzo Clark, Cade Kellum, Cole Kellum, Robert Sabec Tony Pendrich, Stuart Smith, Tim Craig, Darren Eaton, John Ennis, Mark Ruubim, Eugene Demnianuk, Robert Fichbelman, Joanne Anderson, Al Anzelone, Tom Battle, Mikayla Kricfalusi and Daryl Good. THANK YOU ALL. OOP’s: Some people are using regular target frames on the rifle ranges to “Pattern” their shotguns, thus destroying the target frame. This practice is prohibited by our range rules. There is a shotgun patterning system located at the trap range adjacent to the pistol range. I have given permission to the Chief Range Safety Officer to advise the RSO’s to pull the membership cards of anyone seen using regular target frames for this purpose. (Cards will be turned in to the Board of Directors). HOLIDAY’s Well, it’s that time of the year once again. I want to wish all of you a Safe, Healthy and Happy holiday season. BBQ The EF&GA annual BBQ (May 17, 2015) tickets are now being sold. Safety Tip- Be aware of your environment. What’s your shooting neighbor doing? What’s going on down range? Being in contact with your surroundings makes for a safer and more enjoyable day on the range. Neil PLAY SAFE, STAY SAFE

RSOs who wish to sign up for the December 20th NRA certifi-cation class have until December 10th to do so No further sign ups

will be accepted after that date We will also be looking at another first aid class early next year RSOs will have first priority but the class will be open to all club members on a first come basis until all seats are filled

From August through January the club processes new members on the third Thurs-day of each month On that afternoon the process entails a safety walk-thru for all prospective members their spouses along with youth members and their parents

The groups have been as large as forty-five Typically we break them down into smaller groups who are then escorted through-out the entire range where all the features and safety rules are reviewed then a test is administered Whenever a group approaches a particular range a ldquocease-firerdquo is called if shooters are present The reason for this is be-cause few if any will be wearing safety equipment at the time

Please accept my apology if your shooting time is shortened on that day especially dur-ing the winter hours Safety is always a primary concern for the club and we go to great lengths to make certain that new members are as well versed in our rules as possible

For those of you who are interested in obtaining a Concealed Carry Permit good news The pendulum seems to be swinging in your favor again The courts have ruled that you have the right to obtain one even here in California and there is to be no appeal Just remember that having a gun and carrying a concealed gun are far from the same thing Before you ldquocarryrdquo be certain to take the time to review all the applicable gun laws We all need to be responsible permit holders and to keep the pendulum swinging our way The bad guys will have a much harder time deciding which of us is prepared to defend himher self and that makes us all safer

Christmas will be coming soon after you read this diatribe so remember to get your order into Santa early Be certain to specify that the ammo that he leaves you must not be steel core or attract a magnet Since California is now trying to eliminate lead bullets you might ask for a slingshot or possibly a loud horn that goes BOO I am pretty sure that will scare your next turkey long enough for you to put him in a bag and take him home I am not too certain that it will work with deer However if I come up with something you all will be the first to hear about it

In the meantime have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
