A travel magazine recently sent two of its reporters on different coach tours to the Costa

Brava*. Here are parts of their reports:

PARADISE HOLIDAYS 15 days: £*295

The coach was brand new, but the windows were filthy* and the floor was covered （ 1 ）

rubbish* from the last tour. Our courier*, Sandra, got us off on time and there were no delays

on the journey there or back. Sandra spoke fluent Spanish, and was obviously 🄐an old hand

at this particular tour. （ 2 ） the whole, she didn’t socialise* much with the group, but did

manage to sort out* any problem as it arose. The hotel was comfortable, and about 3 km. from

the beach, and the food was good and well cooked―🄑I did, however, find myself buying extra

snacks now and then. I found the excursions rather expensive （about £12 a time） but there

were plenty of them, and lots of アchoice....

VISTA TOURS 14 days: £199

The coach, though old and needing a service, was spotlessly clean, and when we eventually got

away the journey was quite pleasant. Our courier, Geoff, had only done this run once before,

and his Spanish was a bit shaky*, but he was great fun: he was never away from the group, and

really tried his best (which was not always good enough!) to keep things going smoothly. We

イarrived （ 3 ） last at the hotel, which I found quite comfortable, apart from the mattress.

The food was nice, but not always as hot as it could have been―and there was usually enough

of it. The beach was only about three or four minutes’ walk away, and if one got bored （ 4 ）

that, one could go on a local excursion―reasonable at about £9.50 a time, but not as much

choice as I’d been hoping for....
