Governor’s Corner

This month has flown by.

First our Cal/ NV 2019 annual convention was

Sept.5 thru the 8th. A lot was discussed, including the

combining the Lodges and Chapters as one DISTRICT

board. This new change is effective October 1, 2019 and

does not effect our Lodge. This is a combining of the

women and the men at the District and Association

level. There is a Town Hall meeting on November 1st

in Florida to discuss a ONE MOOSE membership

which would make both men and women equal as one

Moose. There are several things needing to be discussed before anything is ready

to go forward to a vote, but this is where the Moose is heading (we think!).

On Sept. 27th is our Comedy Show, we hope will be a great success. Thank

you all the members in advance that helped put this all together. couldn't of done

it without you.

On Sept. 25th at 10:30 at night another tree fell in the park. this time it took

out the entire outdoor stage! thanks to some of our members that came out to

help, we managed to cut the rest of the tree down and hall away most of the tree

pieces. they also trimmed some of the branches of the trees that were top heavy

and in danger of falling. but the stage is destroyed and will need to be rebuilt.

If you haven't been out in the park since labor day you haven't seen the

beautiful new fence that Phil Ponto and his crew put up. not finished yet, but

looks great. thank you Phil Ponto and all that contributed towards the materials.

Members like the ones that came at a minutes notice to help, make me feel proud

of our membersship. thanks to all for your help.

We would like as many members as possible to show up for our District

meeting on Oct.20th and show your pride for own new district 23 president, Dan

Papp. Let's see if we can fill our lodge with members to be counted.

We also have Halloween for the kids and adults scheduled in Oct. see flyers

that are displayed on lodge tables with date and times.

In Nov. we will have a celebration for veterans day and support our veter-

ans. Then we will have our Pre-Thanksgiving dinner on Nov. 22nd.

we have plans for a children's Christmas party on the 7th of Dec. signup sheet

will be up in Nov. and to close out our great year, will be having our annual new

year's eve party for adults.

Flyers will be coming out for all these events, so watch for them.

Fraternally yours,

Phil Persails

Senior REGENT’S chapter chatter

Dear Co-Workers and Lodge Members, My personal thanks go out the all those who have put so much into our events in the summer months. The WOTM work tirelessly to raise money for our two charities...Mooseheart and Moosehaven. Moose Lodges fund both the Family homes/school at Mooseheart and retirement village at Moosehaven...what a difference we make in the lives of so many. So when the Women of the Moose are doing our bake sales, and other activities, we are not only raising money for these two wonderful projects, but also for the benefit of our Lodge's children and grandchildren, activities such as the Halloween party on Sunday 10/27, Christmas party with Santa on 12/7, and Easter with the Easter Bunny. WOTM meetings are on the First and Third Wednesdays of the month and you are all welcome. Here's where the new great ideas and projects are hatched and plans are made. Make you voice heard...this is your lodge! YOU BELONG HERE AND YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN TO THE LODGE IN A FEW MONTHS...YOU'VE BEEN MISSING OUT! Membership is growing, there are new volunteers and cooks, so come and have some fun with us this fall. Breakfast on selected Sunday mornings now feature a Bloody Mary Bar. Check you calendar for the dates. Football is more fun to watch with a group so join us on Sundays for the games. For 17 years our beloved Duffy has been teaching line dances on Tuesday nights. We seem to forget what a treasure that is for our lodge. Bring your friends for a night of good food and dance on Tuesdays.

If you haven't come to participate or just listen to the music on Guitar Night Wednesdays...it's great. Anyone who wants to join in is welcome and there's great talent and friendships on display.

DO NOT plan anything else for Friday nights...come to the Lodge! We have great food, people and music. With so many lodges closing around the country, we truly have a gem here in Escondido. Bring your friends and make every Friday a party!

Lastly...we are looking for a few volunteers for these upcoming events...Our Lodge Thanksgiving feast, New Year's Eve party, and BINGO. Please contact me anytime to volunteer and make these events a success!

Fraternally yours, Meridee Reynolds Sr. Regent 760-822-6021

What’s Happening with the Moose Riders?

I have been elected as the Vice President of CA/NV Extreme South Moose Riders.. As such, the Escondido riders are joining the CA/NV Moose Riders instead of being two separate dues paying groups.

Please review the La Habra Moose Rider’s Poker Run flyer, October 5th (page 7). We can join them for all or part of the ride and they end up in our park for an evening of fun, food and entertainment. Plan on coming out and enjoying the evening with fellow Moose Members. Stay and tent camp or bring your motorhome.

Due to your generous contributions Phil Ponto and I were able to get the top tier of the park fenced to prevent falls. Thank you for your contributions. You may or may not be aware, but we ’ve lost two oak trees from the upper part of the park. The first one damaged the keg barn and that was taken care of and the necessary repairs were made to the roof of the keg barn. On Tuesday, 9/24 the oak tree by the horseshoe pits split, taking down the entire stage and blocking the drive way into the RV Park. We sure could use some help rebuilding the stage. If you can help, please volun-teer your time and talents. As always, we do the cooking on the fourth Tuesday of every month to help out the lodge. Look for monthly special burgers, like the Western Bacon Cheese burgers, and Ortega burgers (Mike & Tom make the best burgers in town!).

Until Next Time, Jesse Farrell Vice President ESMR

ADMINISTRATOR’S UPDATES Brothers and Sisters of the Lodge,

An update for everyone. You may have heard about the outside bathrooms and the septic issues. Our old pipes are cast iron and had eroded to the point that THEY WERE NOT FUNCTIONAL. Also the septic system needed to be pumped. This is an old building and there are two tanks and they were both full. The drain company gave us an estimate of $5000 to $7000 to come in and repair the system. Luckily, one of our members, Jesse Farrell, is a plumber. He managed to replace the pipes for $650 and we are back in business. We do need the help of some members who are skilled in tile and drywall work. We would like to clean up and refurbish those bathrooms. If you have these skills please contact me.

I am sure you are all aware of the tree that fell on the beer barn and the seats in the park. We have repaired the beer barn and seats. Monday another oak split and completely destroyed the outdoor stage. We have several events schedule and we are building almost from scratch. If you can help please let a board member know, and come out to assist. We sure could use your expertise and assistance.

Also, if you haven’t heard, as of October 1, the WOTM are now officially full members of the California/Nevada Moose Association. Therefore, they are full members of District 23 which is our district. On October 20, 2019, the District meeting will be held at our Lodge. The general meeting is at 11:00 am. This will be the first meeting with the ladies as full partners. Please show up to celebrate this historic meeting. Show the WOTM a great welcome.

Thank you all for everything you do to support the Lodge.

Dan Papp, Treasurer (Administrator pro-tem)
