Andaman Islands

Remote, mysterious and relatively secluded—with only 26 inhabited i s l a n d s o u t o f a b o u t 550—Andamans' lush tropical forests open on to deserted beaches; its crystal-clear waters holding within them an underwater paradise of rare residents.

Jacques Cousteau, a dive industry pioneer and co-inventor of the SCUBA, made the islands and its reefs famous after his 1990-documentary, Andaman Islands: Invisible Islands. Some of these islands are indeed almost 'invisible' and strictly out-of bounds for visitors, in order to protect its indigenous tribes, most of them as yet untouched by the modern world.

Human residents aside, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands have also been declared as two of the 218 Endemic Bird Areas of the world. Over 270 species and sub-species of birds have been reported to exist on these islands, 106 of them being unique to the area.

There are about 96 Wildlife Sanctuaries, nine National Parks and one Biosphere Reserve on the islands. Of these, Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park is possibly the bestknown.

Havelock - our dive destination - is also home to one of the most amazing beaches.Radhanagar Beach, made famous by Time Magazine in 2004, ranks among the best beaches in the world.

Sunsets here weave palettes of colours, taking you to a world of calm and peace seldom found in cities. Long walks through rainforests along with trekking and cycling are some recommended activities, apart from snorkelling, scuba diving, game fishing and bird watching.

The ferry to Havelock arrives at the northern end, or Beach 1. Most activities and resorts are based around Beaches 1 to 5, and one can traverse the distance between these in about an hour. Beach 7 is about 12 km away with a bus service and autos available.

The Resort

A short Jeep ride of about 10 – 15 minutes

from the ferry wharf takes us to our

resort.

Built on permanent plinths, the cabana

tents are tastefully decorated and exude

coziness and comfort with a lot of small

details which go a long way towards

making your stay more enjoyable. A

balcony with rocking chairs for relaxing

after a dive, a powerful fan and electronic

mosquito repellants / nets and an en-suite

bathroom with hot and cold water makes

life peachy! Laundry service is also

available.

The resort is just a minute away from the

beach and the ocean with hammocks

spread out throughout for a power nap to

and from your dives !!

A full service restaurant provides tasty

meals throughout our stay. No alcohol

served here BUT there are bars just

minutes away from the resort. Internet is

erratic at the resort but cyber café's are

just a short walk away.

Pristine forests with many endemic

species of flora and fauna abound making

the islands a nature lover’s paradise.
