Your reused item scarecrow will be judged on 2 main criteria:

Waste Wise PrinciplesYou have built your scarecrow using items that have been saved from going to landfill. These items could be sourced from school, home, the Reuse Market or charity shop.

CreativityYour scarecrow is one-of-a-kind never seen before unique.

Judging Criteria

1 Kindergartens and Early Learning Centres

2 Primary School (including Prep)

3 High School

4 Special Education (All grade levels)

1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes awarded for each category1st $250 Giftcard

2nd $150 Giftcard

Overall awards chosen from all entrants

Your gardens will be judged on 4 main criteria:

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle - WaterYou have created a garden that uses as little water as possible to keep it flourishing. You might plant water wise plants, reuse or recycle water for your garden, capture your own rainwater or include water wise gardening principles (such as mulch and compost).

Student ParticipationThe students have been involved and enthusiastic in every aspect of the garden and competition including planning, preparation and caring. Students are involved in demonstrating their garden and all they have learnt when the judges visit.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle - WasteYou have contributed as little waste to landfill as you possibly can. You will have included reused items in your garden design.

CreativityYou have thought of ‘out-of-the-box’ ideas in designing your garden and presenting to judges.
