Teaching staff must be present at all times during DYW Live sessions. Please ensure this ispossible for each course/session that interests you before completing the DYL Live online form. Itis the responsibility of the lead teacher to meet the needs of their own learners relating to toaspects such as ASN, resourcing, behaviour, etc

There may be additional requirements for individual courses, these are detailed in the outline foreach course, contained in this brochure. This DYW Live session will share insight on Scotland’s Third Sector and the significant contribution the ThirdSector makes to both the economy and civil society. We will open each session with an overview of the ThirdSector, through which we will explore the size of the sector in terms economic footprint, services andemployment opportunity. We will then go onto share specific insight on a variety of career pathways within theThird Sector, further demonstrating the breadth of opportunity which exists within the sector. Across the sessionour aim will be to showcase opportunity, challenge stereotypes, and promote the importance of Third Sector.

This session will be delivered by The Wood Foundation. With an overarching focus on developing young peoplein Scotland, The Wood Foundation deliver a number of education programmes and investments (including YPIScotland) and distribute a number of charitable grants.

This course is for young people who want to try animation for the first time. Artist, animator andillustrator Tom Morgan-Jones (http://inkymess.com/) will guide you through a range of simpleanimation techniques, empowering you to tell your own stories. This will include flipbooks,animating found characters, creating your own character, drawing, sculpting and putting yourselfin the animation. Reference will be made to the work of animator Ray Harryhausen and theexhibition on display at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art: Ray Harryhausen Titan ofCinema. Harryhausen is widely acknowledged as the godfather of stop frame animation andinfluenced contemporary animators such as Spielberg and Aardman Animations.

This is a fun and interactive series of 4 workshops aimed at P6-S2 learners that encourages them toget involved in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) activities and be inspired. The course will use a range of activities from the Youth Scotland ‘STEM Activity Toolkit’which will require some easily sourced resources.There will also be an additional online training/support meeting for lead teachers prior to the course commencing and we will provide teachers with acopy of the STEM toolkit and a resource list.

Climate Ready Classrooms is an accredited Carbon Literacy training course designed for young people aged14–17 years. The course aims to inspire students to take positive action against climate change by studying it'senvironmental and social impacts and identifying choices they can make to reduce the size of their carbonfootprint. The workshops introduce students to numerical and graphical information and ask them to explainconcepts, such as the carbon cycle, which are linked to climate change.Upon completing the course pupils receive Carbon Literacy accreditation. Climate Ready Classrooms is also anexcellent accompaniment for geography students studying the 'Global issues' unit in Nationals 3-5.

The Climate Ready Classrooms (CRC) course is aimed at participants who wish to educate themselves on climatechange, with a view to taking resultant climate action, and who then wish to pass on this knowledge and understandingto others (e.g. educators to pupils, or senior phase pupils to younger learners). It is designed to inform participants onclimate change in order to teach it and explores what we can do as a society, as individuals, and as groups to take saidclimate action. On one day every week, there will be a live Q&A session, giving participants the opportunity to putforward questions and observations about the course. These sessions usually last around 30 minutes and will bedelivered through Microsoft Teams within Glow. At the end, participants will submit an evidence form which will be sentto The Carbon Literacy Project, the body which accredits this course. If certified, participants will then receive acertificate which recognises them as 'carbon literate', and participants can then reteach the course.

The Young Scot #AyeFeel interactive programme will focus on supporting young people’s mentalhealth and emotional wellbeing by providing quality assured information and signposting. Eachsession will concentrate on a topic that may impact a young person’s mental health and emotionalwellbeing, supporting them to develop an informed view of how to look after themselves mentally,emotionally and physically. The course will contain information from our #AyeFeel campaign whichincludes a wide range of content, co-designed by young people and experts in the field, and willbe delivered in an engaging way via videos, polls and interactive quiz sessions. As an outcome ofthe session, young people will have developed an awareness of their own mental health andemotional wellbeing, know how to access relevant and quality assured information and know howto identify if they need further advice or support and how to access it. Resources shared duringthese sessions will be translated into Gaelic.

PwC are launching their Spring ‘New World New Skills - Schools Series’, their social mobility virtual skillsprogramme, which gives learners the opportunity to develop their confidence and key employability skills.Running over a period of weeks, the programme is made up of a combination of short skills sessions deliveredby PwC, teacher facilitated activities in the virtual classroom, and optional self-guided learning for learners.Each week is designed around a different skill, covering topics such as teamwork, speaking and listening andproblem solving. Over 60% of employers are now using online profiles and social media as a form of second CV.Your online profile is the picture you build of yourself for the world to view, but what information doyou want your potential employer to know? This session will highlight the dos and don’ts of buildingyour online profile – your ‘brand’, offering the opportunity to understand what good looks like andwhat is not so good. Following a 14 minute video from a leading PR firm learners will be asked toengage in group discussion and reflect on scenarios of whether they would ‘hire’ individuals based ontheir online profile. How do I access the live sessions?

Lead teachers will be added to a MS Team on completing the online DYW Live note of interest format e-sgoil.com

If partners confirm your participation, this MS Team will be used to host the live DYW Live sessionsand associated resources.

Please ensure all necessary technology has been setup and tested in advance of each live session.You may wish to have local technical support available to deal with any centre specific issues youmay encounter.

Please ensure additional requirements for each course/session - as detailed in this brochure andshared by partners in the course MS Team - are available for use when required.

Lead teachers will be able to access DYW Live sessions via the course MS Team. Please ensure youhave logged on and accessed the supplied meeting link in good time before the session begins.Young people should be settled and ready to learn by the published session start times.

The lead teacher will be required to support the partner in delivering sessions to their own learners -this will include live communication using the MS Team chat function to provide learner responses toquestions, etc.

Please do not switch on video cameras or microphones unless instructed to do so by the partnerproviding the session

You may be asked to supply attendance figures for your centre to partners for each session
