• A macro is a series of recorded typing and clicks of any day to day

function.

What is a Macro?


• A macro can populate a form for you, click some buttons, navigate to a

new window, or quickly populate information on a window that would

normally take several clicks by a user.

• Every second that you don’t have to do repeat the same steps each time

saves that second for something more important.

What types of things can a macro do?


• Macros are available from within the menu

on any GP window.

Tools > Macro

Where can I find macros?


• Start by mapping out your steps. You want

to ensure that while you record the macro

you are making clean movements and

selections.

• When ready click Tools > Macro > Record

• Choose the location you want to save the

macro file. PS: Make is somewhere easy to

find.

• Perform the Steps you would normally

perform.

• Click Stop Recording when completed.

How do I record a macros


• Easiest and recommended place is to add a

shortcut for the macro on your home page.

• Right click in the shortcut area

• Add > Add Macro

• Locate the macro you saved previously

• NOTE: Each user should have their

OWN macro file to select from for this

step. Once you have a working macro

copy it and distribute it. Multiple users

running the same macro will cause

issues.

• Set a name for the shortcut and I highly

recommend attaching a keyboard shortcut

for the macro

• Open your window and try it out.

simplifies deferring revenues or distributing expenses

Pre-requisites

• Install RED on SQL Server

• Install RED on terminal server &/or workstations

• Add RED security Tasks/Roles to users

• Add any needed deferred revenue and expense GL accounts to

your COA


2 Methods

• Balance Sheet posting method• Profit & Loss posting method


Balance Sheet posting method - two accounts involved in the deferral:

• the deferral account (e.g., Deferred Revenue or Expense) • the recognition account (e.g., Recognized Revenue or Expense).


1. Profit and loss (P&L) account used for the original posting of the credit (revenue) or debit (expense).

2. P&L account used when a deferral is applied to offset the original posting (this could be the same as

Account No. 1 or different).

3. Balance Sheet account used for the deferred amount, typically Deferred Revenue or Expense (this is

the offset to Account No. 2).

4. Balance Sheet account used when a deferral is recognized (this could be the same as Account No. 3

or different).

5. P&L account used when a deferral is recognized, typically Recognized Revenue or Expense (this is the

offset to Account No. 4 and could be the same as Account No. 1 or Account No. 2).


Deferred Setup Options
