The Gamers’ Corner BY HARRY TURNER
Hello and welcome back to this month’s issue of Gamers’ Corner. In
this month’s issue, Star Craft Legacy of the Void Goes into beta, Bliz-
zard sets a date for this year’s Blizzcon, signups for the Rainbow Six
Siege Alpha and Beta have started, and Star Citizen has a huge file size.
First up in the news, StarCraft II Legacy of the void enters beta
this month. If you haven’t already, you can register for the Starcraft II
LoV beta on Blizzard’s battle net website. StarCraft II: Legacy of the
Void is a planned standalone expansion pack to the military science fic-
tion real-time strategy game StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, and the
third part of the StarCraft II trilogy developed by Blizzard Entertain-
ment. The beta invites are set to go out on Tuesday, March 31, so sign up
and get your key. With this final iteration of the game, players will see
updates and changes to units, maps, and worker counts at the start of the
game. Next up, Blizzcon 2015 has been set for November 6th and 7th at the
Anaheim Convention Center and tickets are set to go on sale in April for
$200.00. Tickets will go on sale in two batches on Wednesday, April 15th
and the following Saturday, April 18th. These tickets have a reputation
for selling out in minutes, so be sure to get your virtual ticket if you
don’t plan on making the trip.
Moving ahead, signup has started for the Rainbow Six Siege Alpha and
Beta. On March 12, 2015, Ubisoft announced that a closed alpha is in de-
velopment. It is scheduled to be released exclusively for Microsoft Win-
dows. A closed beta of the game was also announced for PlayStation 4,
Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows. Ubisoft revealed that a guaranteed ac-
cess of the beta will be available for those who pre-order the game on
any of the platforms. So if you enjoy destroying walls and ceilings, be
sure to pre-order a copy and sign up for this event due to take place in
the coming weeks.
Lastly, Star Citizen is a game that will consist of two main compo-
nents. It will be a first-person space combat, mining and trading with
first-person shooter elements in a massively multiplayer persistent uni-
verse and customizable private servers. It also has a branching single-
player and drop-in co-operative multiplayer campaign titled Squadron 42.
The game is built on a modified CryEngine and will feature Oculus Rift
support. This game has got bloggers and redditors going crazy over the
possible file size of 100 gigabytes. The issue will surely be talked
about and hopefully be brought to the market leaders and other business
executives on how they plan to make this large title available to all
levels of consumers. That does it for this month’s issue, be sure to look
back here next month for more gaming related content and information.
